"To each their own," Thorne drawled in return, "God knows Corr was an absolute terror to behold." He shrugged, letting the topic fall, and added, "Neither would I. It would be fascinating though. I'd love to find out. Books, after all, are the greatest way of preserving an authors soul through time."
He grinned at Shun, shaking his head.
"They are," He retorted, "I prefer cats though. My father had dogs though. Hunting dogs, because when you're rich, why not paint the right picture?" It was a sarcastic drawl, but Thorne's grin stayed firmly in place. "Are you going to get it as a baby?"

Shun hadn't dealt with Corr as much as he had with Beel, but he still recalled the way he carried out Melany's orders against Alois. There was no telling how much he had personally enjoyed that, but it still painted a poor picture of that fetch in his mind. "Perhaps in a more literal manner over there as well... Memories are powerful, lasting things, and it seems to be especially true on the other side," he added, regarding the books. The tomes within the library showed memories, from what he had heard. It wasn't something he had experienced for himself just yet, but it made sense in a way, he supposed. "Not quite as a baby... but if I can get it as a juvenille, that may be nice. Rats do not have a very long lifespan to begin with, and it may be easier to bond with one while it is still relatively young," the detective nodded. He looked over a couple different products on a nearby shelf, then asked, "Have you always kept cats since being on your own, then?"

Thorne glanced at Shun, a crooked smile on his face, halfway between his regal manner and the casual creature that usually occupied this skin.
"Perhaps," he retorted, wryly, "Milton wrote extensively in his belief that literature and printed works were the only true way for man to live on forever, after all." He ran fingers through his hair, humming a soft, deep tune as they looked at the pet supplies.
"That would probably be better," Thorne remarked, laughing. "I hope you become good friends. You'll have to keep me updated." His eyes flicked to Shun, curious, and he tilted his head. "Mostly. Once I raised a wolfhound with a friend in college, but she ended up the one to take it with her."

"It is, unless you have some assholes who decide to burn libraries and s**t like that," he muttered. Like the library of Alexandria. Some of those things were lost forever. "Of course nowadays, it is more difficult to lose such things."With a shake of his head, Shun placed the box back onto the shelf, and moved onto the next thing. "I certainly will. It will likely take some time to get it to trust me. Small creature and all," he commented.

"True," Thorne responded, low and humming, "I wonder sometimes about all the things humanity left behind or burned. What a world we're missing out on."
He laughed and the sound was gentle and rough. His eyes burned as he stretched his fingers out for another cat that had come by to purr at him and grinned at the other.
"Thank god for the internet," he said. "But there's nothing quite like opening an old book up and finding something lost in time."
Straightening again, he shook out his head and smiled at the other as his phone lit with a message, presumably someone asking where he was.
"Send me pictures," he said grinning, and waved his hand, "I've got to go, but I'll see you around, yeah? And seriously," he added, grinning, "send me pics once you get your new friend."
