Mare sighed.
"If that is what you wish," she said with a chilly hiss, "I will not deny you your right to your own folly."
Thorne sighed, soothing her with another gentle pat and Mare whuffled, a little sound of petty discontent. She had told him she was countless years old - hundreds, he imagined - but still acted young enough that he wondered if she was like Lady had been. Taken too young, never released.
"Yes," Thorne said. "I would like that as well. The danger is in any one person taking up some vigilante mantle. Everything is connected. Everyone is connected. Even in a clash of ideals, we have to meet an ultimatum somehow." He crossed his one arm behind his back, the motion realigning the regal edge of his figure now.
Pax had told him plenty of things. But some stayed coiled in his throat, hidden. Secret.
"Only what I am," he said. "Only what I am allowed to do from here on out."

Now ignoring Mare, Shun folded his arms as he watched Thorne. There was something more regal in the way he carried himself now, compared to the last two times he had seen him. There might have also been something in the way he spoke. He wasn't sure if this whole nobility thing was getting to his head, or if there was something else to it. If not for the fact that Adoelle wasn't an awful person from what little he knew of her, he might have been more concerned that the man before him would end up like Melany or Ezra. There was a little bit of that still. Despite what Thorne had been talking about, the fact that there were a group of people who considered themselves as Nobles, with fetches putting them up as lords and ladies... that already kind of set one group to appear to be superior than the rest. Everything said here sounded good in theory, but he didn't trust people enough to think it'd go so well in practice. There wasn't always time to work out compromises when it came to a clash of ideals. Nor were people always willing to levy any ground. "So you do know some of your rules, then."With a sigh, he shook his head slowly, "So what now, then?"

"Only some," Thorne said.
Mare rewound the scarf around her head, staring at Shun with large doe eyes. She was glacial and frosty, but she did not seem very interested in harming him anymore, apart from with her sharp words.
"You're as lost as I am, Shun," Thorne said, "I only know what I am. What the creature I have become is meant for. But how that turns in alignment with the rest of this cycle, this world - that's something I can't figure out on my own."
He glanced up at the other man.
"What would you suggest?"

Shun closed his eyes, falling silent for a short time. "The same thing I have told others, because I honestly do not know what else we can do now; learn more. We have barely scratched the surface of this world, the cycles... any of it. Actions made from ignorance will only hinder us."The answer sounded so cheap at this point. Gather more information. Something made more difficult due to the fact that otherbeings were either cryptic or tight lipped about everything it seemed. "I do not even know the full extent as to why I fight."

Thorne exhaled, a sweet-soft sound, like he'd never expected an answer in the first place. Mare disentangled herself from him only to straighten her scarf and align her body with his, and with her gone, he let both of his hands fall to his back, the small of it, where they rested quietly, the trembling of restlessness abated for now.
"Inaction is still an action though," he said easily. "We can learn all we want. But the world will not wait for us to do so."
He tilted his head at Shun.
"Do you want to stop?"

The noble and fetch before him were oddly cuddly with one another. Shun wasn't really sure what to make of that. "It is not a matter of what I want. I cannot stop, knowing what I know. Not willingly at least," he quietly said, "s**t tends to get worse if nothing is done about it. Even if I tried to ignore it, it would still affect me in some manner. Action has to be taken, as you said. And others may not necessarily be willing to do what must be done."

Thorne was resigned to his clingy fetch. And his clingy fetch knew it. That they improvised a somewhat formidable appearance together was - well. By accident.
"Well then," Thorne mused, "I'm glad to hear it. Inaction is an enemy, just as much as in-fighting. I'm not - " He paused. "I would like to know more about how these four divisions are meant to co-exist. If they can even do so any longer, without guide."

"If we cannot, then I suppose we will end up crumbling. Failure will be just around the corner, and perhaps another cycle. That is if we are even allowed another chance at this in the first place."There was absolutely no guarantee that they would be given another chance at this. He doubted the enemy would allow them to keep going at this forever, to solidify his victory. "It does feel a bit like an impossible task for us, if only due to the fact that we seem to be denied the tools we need."

Thorne tilted his head at Shun, his eyes sharp at the mention of the cycle.
"I would prefer if that wasn't the case," he said, "I've tasted enough death lately. I'd rather give us all a chance to live."
He exhaled softly. "Perhaps there's a way to come together. To at least talk about what we know. What we are. And what we can do. But that comes with time, and I'm not the one to do it, I don't think." He ran his hand against the back of his neck.
"Well, if we have been denied those tools, I suppose we'll just have to start over," he said with a crooked smile. "There has to be a way, or what has it all been for? I have to believe that we can do something to change the world."

Shun nodded slowly. One way or another, they probably will end up changing the world. The question was if it was really for the better. And how many sacrifices will need to be made to reach that? "I would like to limit the casualties if possible, but I feel that there will be many deaths yet to come. In the very least, maybe we can make our own tools for the job in the end."The detective gave a shrug, then looked up to the rain soaked sky. "We just need to find our paths..." he murmured, before he began to turn to start walking off.

Thorne exhaled softly.
"I'm glad we're aligned on that front, at least," he said softly. "But death will come. There's nothing we can do to prevent it, so for the ones already in the ground, let's at least do right by them. Adoelle sacrificed herself for a reason."
He looked to Mare, who was waiting on him with patience, the complete servitude of one happy to be where she was.
"I hope you find yours," Thorne said to Shun.
"Do you think he'll be okay?" Mare asked as they parted, and Thorne exhaled into the mist.
"We'll see," he said, and led her back into the grey.Blade Kuroda awesome, we can plot it over aim! that's a wrap!
