"No," he smiled at her, "you certainly can not. I would be hurt." Jeremiah was being playful with the way he was speaking but he patted her arm once it was linked with his and started to walk down the street. His faintly glowing eyes would flick everywhere, looking for the telltale signs of the veil being thin.

He snorted. "The food really is quite terrible and several of us have actually started to leave survival kits behind in case what is supposed to be a short stay turns into something extended." Glowing eyes flicked towards Juniper a moment, his head tilting slightly. "I was trapped here for a week at one point, so I'm well aware of the food being horrendous."

His attention went back to the street, briefly pausing at the opening of an alleyway to look down it. "There's places you can explore, places that you might find something that helps you. I often come here for the purposes of working with magic, but there are beings here that are not out for our blood. If you can find them, they'll teach you things or help you out." His lips twitched upwards once more into a smile. "If not them, then myself as I've become something of a magic tutor without realizing it."

"A week?! Damn. What did you do for an entire week here? Were you just unable to find a way out or was there a reason you were here for so long?" Juniper questioned, eyes turning up at him. "After something like that I bet I'd be stashing food here too." It really wasn't a bad idea. She could think of a few things that could easily be brought over and left in small stashes without any issues. Can goods would probably be the best bet. She'd just have to remember to add a can opener into the mix.

As they continued their walk, Juniper watched Jeremiah as his eyes flicked this way and that in search of that magical opening that would lead them back to the normal Ashdown. It was a bit peculiar, knowing that the older man could see something she couldn't and that, in a way, she was at the mercy of what he was able to find.

At the mention of other beings, besides those she had encountered thus far, Juniper raised a brow. "It would be nice." She remarked. "To meet someone from here that was actually friendly and possibly even cared." That seemed almost like a novel idea. Sure, some of the patrons at the party hadn't be necessarily mean, but they certainly weren't all that nice either. "I'll have to remember that next time I am here. Maybe I can find someone who can help me learn some new things. After all, I wouldn't want to monopolize all of your time." She joked with a wink.

"Explored, learned the ins and outs of a few places ..." Jeremiah let out a small huff at the memory of when Zac and himself had been trapped here for a week. "It was before there were a lot of people involved like now, when the teenagers went originally missing, and finding a way out was not exactly possible unless you had someone to show you." He smiled at her. "Like I'm showing you."

Eventually he came to a halt at what was a small park area downtown. There was an archway and, to him, he could see the way the veil was thin. Ashdown was visible through it, the colors no longer muted as they were here. His eyes glowed brighter for having focused on it. "Just be mindful of whom you talk with. Much like the nobles of the ball, there are those you can trust only so long as their interests align with yours." The wink of hers had him smiling. "... but you're likely to find beings that will help you and it's not taking up any of my time if you truly need something."

He lifted his hand and gestured towards the archway. "If you walk through that, Juniper, you'll find yourself back in Ashdown." Jeremiah patted her arm. "I, however, have a couple other things I need to take care of before I can head out but ..." A hand was raised, and as ridiculous as it was, a business card appeared in his hand in a flash of cold green fire. It was slightly chill to her touch when she took the card but it would warm quickly. "This has my contact info on it in case you need to get a hold of me."

She shook her head. "Well, you definitely seem comfortable in this place anyway. Well, more comfortable than I am right now. I hope I never have to deal with an entire week here at once, but I'd like to get to know it better since I am obviously going to be pulled here like it or not." She shrugged and gave a side smile.

"But I'll be careful. Or try to be anyway." A finger scratched at her nose. "I won't lie and say that I tend to get myself into more trouble than I intend to." A bashful look his way was turned towards the archway that Jeremiah had gestured to.

She stood there and squinted her eyes. Doing her best to try and see this divide that he could obviously see, but nothing changed. She continued to see the drab, rainy world she was surrounded by.

"There's no need to show off, you know." She teased playfully as she reached to take his card. She coolness of the paper didn't go unnoticed but she didn't remark on it. Instead she looked the card over once. A detective. I wonder if he knows Shun? That wasn't necessarily important now though, so she tucked the card into her purse for safe keeping. She'd need to add that to her phone.

"Perfect! Seeing as I don't have a card of my own, I'll toss you a text message so you have my number. Just in case. It can't be bad to be able to get in contact with people, right?" Not that she expected him to actually need to contact her, but she would feel better knowing that he had hers number as well.

"Thank you! Not just for helping me with those birds and getting me out, but for answering some of my questions too. This whole Other Ashdown thing is still so new and, I'll be frank, fascinatingly scary." She chuckled softly. "But I am really intrigued by it, especially now that I have something to go off of."

Turning from Jeremiah she looked at the Archway again. "Alright. Well, you take care!" She offered him another smile before walking towards the archway. One moment she was in the dreary, muted world of Other Ashdown and the next she was faced with the brighter, more active world she was use to.

She paused and glanced behind her, but couldn't see a trace of Other Ashdown or Jeremiah. "That's so weird." She said softly to herself before turning to reorient herself and begin the trekk home.
