"I think the key is finding what works best for you," Alg chuckled and shook his head, "Like career training. But with magic. You are practical sort though.. I'm sure you can find more use than you'd expect. Think about the experiences we've had- through either fighting or simply being caught up in things- and what skills you'd wish you had." Alg was starting to think he may need some magical binding spell considering how often they've taken things into impromptu custody.

"Yes... that makes sense."Most of the things he wished he could do had to do with the situation at hand. Forcing a locked door open while they were stuck in the theater, or simply be able to move faster and more precisely while he fought against the fetches. Or maybe something that would slow them down instead. Something to blast all the othergulls would have been nice too. "That may be a part of the reason why I had difficulty thinking of things when there is... nothing to solve at hand, or so to speak," he mused, before letting out a huff, "I will figure something out sooner or later. Or I will not. Thank you for the insight, however."

"It's a bit like riding a bike.." Alg mused, "You bobble at first, try very hard until you get it, but once you keep it up you're able to simply do what you want without thinking." Alg motioned to the barrier over his head, "Like exercising muscles."

All of that made sense. Just as with any other skill, he supposed. "Only these muscles are ones I have only recently discovered having," he murmured. He almost appeared thoughtful for a moment, and seemed like he was going to ask something, but had stopped himself. After another pause, he went ahead and said something else. "I imagine things might have gone a little more differently if more of us were adept with this," Shun quietly stated.

Alg slipped a hand into his pocket casually. "I'm not so sure. We don't know anything more even if we all have magical ability." The professor glanced around, as if anyone would appear any moment. "We may have just ended up with more idiots attacking members of the court." He wasn't calling Shun such, but Alg didn't have a high estimation of most of the other visitors or their sense of judgement.

Shun's fingers twitched slightly, thinking that Algernon was referring to him with that statement. "Perhaps I should have walked away when I had the chance, but I am not sorry for what had triggered the fight in the Ivory Hall," he murmured, "Nor my attempts to finish off Melany, for that matter."He shook his head. "But you have a point."

"No judgement for wanting Melany dead.." Alg flipped a hand, "She almost ended up on the chopping block, to be perfectly frank. But would you have preferred if her defenders were a bit more magical??" He shook his head. The professor had a very acute capacity for trust and most people didn't fit the qualifications.

That thought almost made Shun smile. Almost. It wasn't nearly enough to make it happen. "Melany must be rather unpopular among her peers if that is the case," he commented. It had, after all, been one of the fetches that tried to kill her first. "But no. Her defenders having more access to magic would have just given me a bigger headache," he grumbled, "Regardless... I am going to need to see to it that I will be of more use to whatever our cause is in the future. Whether it be taking her down, or the enemy himself."

"I believe the exact phrasing used was ah," He pushed his glasses up, " Horrendous b***h." Alg read the frustration in the other man, still keenly remembering he and Jeremiah finding him fighting Shiloh's doppelganger. It probably didn't do great for the ego when the people dubbed 'gramps' show up to help. "Well," Alg gripped his book, "I wasn't actually planning on coming here so I think I'll head home.. Are you going to umm.." He motioned to the trashcan. "Stick around?" He hadn't tried to take anyone back with him yet but on this side it should have been easier than vice versa.

That was somewhat satisfying to hear. Still, he would have felt better if she were actually dead right now. As far as the offer went, Shun furrowed his brow, looking to the trashcan as he considered his options. After thinking it over, he let out a sigh, "I still have some time. I should get what practice I can with this sort of thing. I am uncertain when I will show up here next."He needed to train up on it. He wasn't going to improve otherwise. "Thank you for the short lesson though, Professor."

Alg flicked a hand and nodded. He wasn't much good with thanks, praise or compliments of any kind really. Even his husband got abused for flattery. "Be safe," It seemed a reasonable enough goodbye. In a moment he was flipping open his book and speaking something low, something that sounded like a line of a story, and he took one step into nothing and disappeared.
