Blue eyes shifted to a stray leaf that fell from the tree. It's edges brown and the color of it a deep, sickly red as it tumbled over itself to nestle between the two of them. "Oh geez. I hadn't considered how terrible magic must be for someone who wants or needs to understand the mechanics of it." She leaned forward a bit, blonde hair slipping over her shoulders. "I had a hard time at first, just accepting that it was real. That magic actually existed, but now..." She shrugged. "I just...know it's there and that's it. I won't say that it's my first instinct to use or suspect. Not yet anyway, but I am getting there. Especially after the ball." The ball had been quite an eye opener to her, and was actually the first time she had ever attempted to use magic on anyone. It hadn't been the most successful of attempts, but at least things had turned out alright in the end. A chuckle rose up from her. "It's actually really nice. I won't ever complain about loving on some cats. I have to admit, I don't know if I smell like catnip to them but since the ball I've noticed that, um, well, I smell pretty damn good. Whether or not I put perfume on or not. It's really strange, but not totally unwelcoming." She watched Nathaniel fiddle with the strap of his bag. It was meditative in a way to focus on the gestures he made and she was only pulled from her almost staring when he spoke again. "Hm." She said, as she let herself focus back into the conversation. "I feel like a lot of us are just floundering around." She agreed. "It's like we need to figure out things on our own. It's a great way to learn I've found. You're less likely to forget what you discovered on your own, but having someone to help would really be useful." She leaned forward, her back leaving the tree that had been functioning as her back rest. "I think making connections with others who are being pulled into Other Ashdown is important because of the lack of mentors or teachers. We can all just sort of help each other out as we learn things."

Nathaniel was absently twisting his fingers around the strap of his bag still, feeling the worn leather against the palm of his hand. He head leaned to the side a little, head tilted against the wide trunk of the tree, blond hair pressing against the bark.
"I actually didn't have too much of a problem with believin'," he said, with a slight smile. "I do have a problem thinkin' I have any magic myself, I don't really see how that would even be a thing."
I'm not that special, he thought, but pushed it aside.
Nathaniel's brows rose; he didn't lean over to actually see if she smelled good, but he would take her word for it, head slanting back so he could stare up at the branches above his head, gaze roaming over green leaves steadily turning orange and red.
"I do at least have some people to help, which is nice," he admitted. "I mean, I still don't know a jack damn thing about nothin', but I feel like I can at least ask around, y'know?"
He cast Juniper a cheery smile. "I can't say I've noticed anythin' different about myself, other than the glowstick thing, but maybe that's all I got."

"Welp, that makes two of us who don't know much about anything." She said with a smile in her tone. "But I am sure we will figure it out with time." A gentle breeze blew through the trees and Juniper closed her eyes, enjoying the sensation. The leaves above rustled gently and a few fell towards the ground at the sudden jostling they received. "I think my inability to believe was because I couldn't wrap my brain around me having magic myself." She said as an after thought. "So in a way, we are similar there. But, it's become easier since I first found out about all of this." "I wouldn't be surprised if you notice other things occurring to you. That seems to be the general thing that happens from what I've seen and heard. It starts with one ability and sort of expands from there." A vibration sounded from Juniper's back pocket. She reached back and pulled out a small, basic phone and glanced at the screen. With a suppressed groan she glanced at Nathaniel and held up a finger to indicate to give her a moment before she hit the green call button and held the phone to her ear. The conversation didn't take long. In fact, it was less than a minute before she was clicking the conversation off and leaning against the tree with a sigh. "I just got called into work. Someone called off." She moved to stand up, brushing off her pants int he process. "I really shouldn't complain since I need the money, but...I was looking forward to an evening off. Oh well." She shrugged before reaching down to grab her Violin case. "But yea, don't worry too much about the whole magic thing. I am sure it'll start to click for you soon. Especially if you end up in Other Ashdown again. Just be careful if you do." She added. "Here, let me give you my number in case you need anything."

Juniper's sentiment was a nice one, though Nathaniel couldn't help but think that it was, perhaps, a little naive - at least in regards to himself. As much as he wanted to figure everything out in due course, whether or not he actually could was another story entirely. And sometimes - most of the time - he wasn't sure it was possible.
The breeze rifled his hair back away from his face, blond strands flicking around his lightly tanned cheeks. Nathaniel's lips curved back into a smile, and he gave a shake of his head.
"I'll believe it when I see it," he quipped. "I mean, I know that's kinda dumb, but it is what it is, right?"
Nathaniel was relatively certain that he wasn't going to discover any sort of new abilities, but he appreciated Juniper's belief that he might anyway. He glanced at her as she plucked up her phone, giving a nod to indicate that he understood her taking a call.
"Oh, don't worry," he said, reaching out to brace a hand against the tree to levy himself up as well. "I understand needin' the money, I work three jobs as it is. But I appreciate you talkin' to me, it's been nice finding someone else who's still a l'il bit new to all this."
Nathaniel didn't want to take out his embarrassingly unexciting cell phone, so instead he offered Juniper a pen and a piece of paper pulled from his bag.
"Thanks for that, too, I'll keep it in mind if I need to talk to someone."

Juniper jotted down her number on the offered paper and flash Nathaniel a smile. "It's not a problem! Thanks for stopping to listen to my playing." She handed back the paper and pen and picked up her violin case. "Seriously though, if you need or want to talk to me about anything, just toss me a text. I don't mind at all!" As much as she loathed to cut the conversation short, Juniper only had enough time to hurry home, change and hopefully catch the bus in about a half an hour's time. It was going to be tight. "Thanks again! And enjoy the rest of the day, it's gorgeous out!" She gave him a wave, before turning from the tree and Nathaniel to hurry her way down the pathway that would lead her out of the park.
