Chris thought for a moment, fingers tapping on the lavender. "Yes and no," He answered, looking at Nathaniel. "Some of them are friendly and want to pose no harm to us. You'll figure out who they are fairly quickly, so far as you don't purposely antagonize them. The rest are more ambiguous. Sometimes they're unfriendly, sometimes they're perfectly fine. It's a fine line to cross, but really if you don't want to interact with the Otherbeings you won't have to. It's rare to come across them if you're just passing through or walking around, since they don't seem to really want to interact with us."
He hummed for a second, then said, "That doesn't mean trust anything there though. Most of all, everyone is looking out for their best interests and it's rare they care for you, even if they are friendly. You have to be careful if you do end up talking to anything."

He wished he had his notebook so that he could take notes on all of this, Nathaniel making a mental note to do exactly that once he got back home. Everything Chris was telling him was important for future reference; he wanted to make sure he got it all down properly in case - well, in case he ran into things unexpectedly.
It was bound to happen sooner or later.
"Gloom is friendly, so far," said Nathaniel. "And not everyone at the ball looked like they wanted to kill us, but I mean, looks can be deceiving. I tried to keep from making any of them mad, but I think I failed in that respect on a couple of occasions."
He thought of Melany and winced a little, Nathaniel letting out a small laugh.
"You're very helpful so far, thanks Chris. I'm still - getting used to all of it, it's kinda weird."

"Gloom is maybe the only one I trust," Chris admitted, a wry smile on his face. He was fond of animals and they seemed to be willing to decry Dee, which was a point in Chris' book. Dee was an utter disaster. "I think if you don't have any of them coming after you actively, you're fine. They only seem to hold grudges for rather large offenses."
There was a buzz of his phone and he fished it out of his pocket, staring down at the screen before looking up at Nathaniel apologetically.
"I'm sorry, my friend is asking where I am, I really have to go," He said. "I'm glad to be a help though, feel free to text me any time. It's always an adjustment but you seem smart - I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time."

Gloom was really the only thing at the party that Nathaniel had instinctively trusted as well, though maybe that was just because he was a fluffy, seemingly harmless creature and Nathaniel was nothing if not a sucker for animals in general.
"That's good to know, then," said Nathaniel, as Chris's phone buzzed. He waved a hand quickly, and gathered up the rest of his things, making sure all of the plants were accounted for (not that he needed any more anyway).
"No, it's fine, thanks for talkin' to me," said Nathaniel. "I'll let you know if I need any other advice on anything."
And with a smile and a nod, he made his way to the front.
