"Alright, alright. I'll get out of your hair, I can take a hint," Autumn acquiesced, but she was too tired to be angry. To have any real, raw hurt. Really, she was just glad he was okay and talking to her. Alive and here. Not replaced, or dead, or something even worse. She moved over to the bedside and gave Rabbit a gentle kiss on the forehead, looking down at him fondly.
"You call me immediately if you need anything, okay? It shouldn't take tragedy for us to be better friends. I'm sorry for that." She didn't want to leave, not really. She wanted to stay and take care of her friend, make sure he healed up and was okay and nobody took him again. But that wasn't the way the world worked. He had family, and she had to go home.
"I mean it though. If you want me to smuggle you chocolate into this place, I ******** will. Just try me." But she smiled, and turned to leave the room.
"I'll see you around, Rabbit."

Okay, fine. He probably had meant it as a bit of a dismissal, but not because he really wanted her to go. He just needed to keep the true nature of this town a secret from his sister for a little while longer, and if there was any chance she might meet one who was as steeped in Ashdown's mystery as Autumn was, he couldn't let that happen. Soon, but not yet. And Autumn really did look tired.
"I will. I'll call." He was surprised by the kiss, but he grinned up at her as she moved away anyway. "Take care of yourself."
