A wind blew from nowhere, sharp and bitingly cold. It stopped as suddenly as it appeared.

The fact a town as unremarkable from the outside as Ashdown had a ghost tour complete with gruesome stories and a pamphlet with -- Julian had needed to borrow and flip through it for a moment to ascertain -- decent graphic design said about as much about the town as his preparatory phone conversations with his aunts had. This place was unusual. And filled with unusual people. One of whom had held a door open for him in an alluring act of chivalry. Dammit that was hot too. "Well," he remarked after Marcus animatedly wrapped up his story of a government conspiracy. "I hope that means this place has run out of bad luck." It was an idea note on which to finally take Marcus up on that offer for his arm, and maybe a -- The gust of icy air cut through Julian's relative composure like a cleaver, and instead of smoothly reaching over to pull the other's arm he ended up yelping with surprise and leaning bodily into Marcus's chest to brace himself. ********. Marcus, if asked, would have called Ashdown 'pretty normal'. But this also was a man who thought that eating poptarts without toasting them was the intended way to eat them. Close, but not quite correct. "Luck or a curse? Could have a whole debate about which is more real if you really think about it." Marcus thoughts curses were the more real of the two personally. "The place is actually really great architecture wise. They got rid of the old interior sure, but the front is classic. Plus, when you cover up the past, it makes it all more curious as to what they were covering up to start wi-." Julian's movement was seen and felt before Marcus's mind registered the sound the other man made, cold making him stop as a shiver ran down his back and had gooseflesh crawl up his arms. Oh man. OH MAN Julian was suddenly pressed against him, leaning even, and Marcus nearly fell backwards with the sudden weigh shift. Thankfully, they stayed upright, but not before his arm had wrapped around his date and pulled him just maybe a bit closer. "Uh-" Looking down, they were close and this was very unexpected. "You alright? I-" He licked his lips before gathering the courage to stop staring at Julian's face like it was the cutest thing he'd seen in weeks, "-You want to borrow my coat?"

With a mumbled thanks, Julian accepted the jacket, and he expressed visible relief upon putting it on. Also, as is indicated in his profile, Julian has a hobby for scented oils and usually smells really good. Marcus definitely just got close enough to notice it -- he was wearing something with hints of spice, cherries and... firewood smoke? Oh my.

Something creaked and groaned. A building giving underneath that strong chill wind that blew? Perhaps. It continued on for several seconds. It may have, in fact, groaned and creaked out 'get on with it already'.

Things were moving. Actually moving in the way of 'wow this date is going really well and so far nothing bad has happened and I'm having a nice time and he looks like he is too.' That gave Marcus a tiny bit more confidence in his actions as he wrapped his arm protectively around Julian once the man had slipped on his coat. It was.. cute. Dang he was cute. In his coat. And he smelled nice. Really nice. Leaning over to try and discreetly sniff Julian, he caught the faint hints of a woody spice. The lighter fruit notes went unnoticed, but much later, he'd realize he'd missed the note, and it was a rather harmonious blend that he was already fond of. Marcus was falling fast and hard and he didn't mind at all. Attraction like this was just normal. Buildings creaking and making noise that he knew were not from structural integrity however, were anything but normal. His grip on Julian tightened as he tried to brush off what sounded like words. Words of advice no less. That had to have been in his head. Had to have been. "You know-" Didn't mean he wasn't going to take that advice to heart, "-There is another way to get you to warm up really fast." Marcus was going to go for it. He hadn't been rebuffed yet, might as well go for it.

Julian already knew (though whether he'd fully accepted was another question) that in Ashdown, things like vampires and werewolves were real. For the most part, Leila and Eve and Lady had told him, all of these supernatural beings were still essentially human at their core and most likely would not hurt him on purpose. He also knew that ghosts were probably real. Marcus had confirmed that just a little while ago. However, he didn't know anything about ghosts past that. Were they ever malicious? Was one of them among them right now? Was that why the weird gust of wind and strange noises had just happened? None of that seemed to be bothering the resident ghost expert much, and the sudden boldness he'd found in himself practically made Julian's own demeanor flip like a switch. Now he was wearing the arm embracing him like a prized accessory, and although his expression only ever seemed to change by nanometers there was something about it now that said yes, you dingus, this dude wants to bone you. He leaned in with that vibrant look, stretched out a hand past the other's shoulder to brace himself on the wall behind them, and said, "But there might be ghosts watching. How do you feel about that?" That voice was heady with hormones but also technically had a point, so it was impossible to tell just how serious he was being.

Now that was one heck of a question. Marcus opened his mouth to give a long winded opinion on what life must be like if one took into account that at any given moment a ghost might be watching. For one thing, the bathroom would be a lot more awkward for a myriad of reasons. But in that moment, a tiny little alarm bell went off. Now was not the time to talk about ghost voyeurism. "I feel... Indifferent." If a ghost was watching, why not let them. It's not like ghosts ever hurt anyone. Except when they did. Actually, he figured if that happened he would still be okay because proof of ghosts would be a thing. "In fact-" He ran his hand along Julian's shoulder, slowing making his way to do it. The back of head cradle. The kiss hold. "-If they're watching might as well give them a show yeah?" That's when Marcus did what he was pretty sure was both his worst and best idea all night. He kissed Julian. cibarium crying this rp went in a vastly dif direction than planned but its gr8

The wind blew again. It sounded suspiciously like a cat call whistle and then, of course, another gust blew. This one was hard enough to push them both over. On to each other. In a rather intimate tangle of limbs.

The kiss only lasted for a couple of seconds, but in those couple of seconds Julian experienced some of the most intense euphoria he ever had, enough so that for one rare and blissful instant of his life he was miraculously almost free of pain. He didn't even notice the wolf whistle or being knocked over until the floor slammed into his back and Marcus landed with equal force on top of him. That hurt, but it was still puzzling when he opened his eyes to confirm the makeout session had been cut short even though his date was still there. "You stopped," he remarked myopically. There was some clear disappointment in his tone.

He had just intended it to be something quick. A peck really. But like most things Marcus did, the kiss did not go as planned. It was longer than just a simple peck, was nice and well received but it ended with him on top of Julian on the floor. Now, had this been in a place that was a) not public, and b) much more familiar, Marcus might not have minded it as much and just kept kissing. However, given that this wasn't his place and open to anyone who could walk in on them, he realized that them kissing on the ground was not a very good visual. That and hearing that they had been seen given the whistle was embarrassing. He'd just fallen on top of Julian like an idiot. It felt like someone had pushed him but they were alone and- Looking down at his companion, Marcus felt certainly a lot warmer himself, cheeks flush with color. "I did." Lifting himself off, he offered a hand up. "Think we got caught. Why, did you want to keep going?" He wasn't trying to even be slick, he was just wondering if maybe, he had just heard wrong. They were alone and his mind was known to play tricks on him. "I mean, we.. could but it's up to you. I'm used to being watched." Just not in the context of while on a date. Usually when he was going on about illuminati or aliens. It was in that small fraction of a moment that Marcus realized that what he was saying sounded right out of a cheesy romance novel from the dollar store. "Oh wow I didn't mean like that just that um." "Um." He stood awkwardly wondering how they had gone from innocent ghost tour to make out session.

that was the best kiss he'd ever been given and Marcus was sheepishly asking him if he wanted to keep going?! Julian was visibly a bit taken aback. Of course he wanted to keep going. He was biting his lip at the thought and making no effort at hiding it. His date was getting points for checking in with him, but it was still shocking that those two seconds could have been all he'd gotten. "If we're done with the tour." There was a long, awkward pause. Of course they were done with the tour. They'd just had full body contact with each other, on the ******** floor. In an attempt to save the moment, Julian assertively tugged at Marcus's hand, directing them outside. "Let's find my car. Or your car. I'm sick of the drafts in here." Yup, that's all it is. Drafts. Of wind. Definitely not haunted.

They were done with the tour. 100% done. If not just because things had suddenly gotten a lot more intense than Marcus had ever expected, but, because he couldn't ignore the whole 'wind inside had knocked them over and whistled at them'. "My car has heated seats." Because drafts and cold and so this was real and happening and Julian was asking to move kissing to a car. His windows might not have been tinted, but he was pretty sure at this point neither of them would care all that much.
