He threw up his other hand in surrender. "You're right, I'm pretty much a giant, or you're just really short." Both, it was both. Still, he chuckled and offered her a smile as her fingers wrapped around his arm. "Carrying is still an option, if you want it."

Connie looked like she weighed little and with super-powered strength, he was sure that it would be almost effortless.

"I'd like to think that I'd be a good person either way." Aluminite could only hope that he'd be the same, at the core of it all. "Maybe I would be better. It's just - " he sighed in a defeated manner, unsure of how much he should say or share. Everything about the surrounding had been pressing down on him in an almost suffocating manner lately and he wanted to talk about it, but the people around him didn't understand. "My memories are all jacked up and - " He shook his head.

He didn't think Connie would understand either, it was hard to understand any of it if they weren't there, but she seemed like she would listen at least. "Do you think that we'd be friends, if I did take that chance?" He didn't understand the full repercussions of side swapping, but he knew it changed a person and for some reason, it was important that Connie, who decided to trust him despite his rank and the chaotic energy that leaked from his core, would at least consider being his friend.

"I'm glad I met you too," he said, a little softer this time, heaving a sigh. "I think, if you wanted. We could meet again. I'd try anyway." He pressed his tongue against his cheek as the gas station door came into view. "I'd let you know some more too, about me. Within reason."

“I think you’d be a good person, either way,” Connie said with a definite nod as she glanced up at the man beside her, her brain still telling her that something could easily go wrong and she could end up dead, but Aluminite wasn’t that person. He took the chance to help her when he could have been in danger, as well. No, she didn’t have any fighting skills, but he didn’t know that.

The expression on his face seemed to startle her, and she peered closely at him, her own smile fading as she tried to figure out just what he was feeling, what he was thinking. Slowly, she took a step away from him, letting go of his arm, but it was only so she could turn to face him. Connie reached out to grab hold of the Captain’s hands and gave them what she hoped was a comforting squeeze.

“We’d be friends, because I’d make sure of it,” she insisted, not quite knowing the full extent of what was involved with purification, but in their small conversation, she was sure it was a huge decision for him, if he wanted to even attempt something like that. It was dangerous, and even though his aura told her that she should be afraid of him, she feared for him. She was scared that something might happen to this kind hearted man who seemed to be caught up in something horrible, and she had no idea how to help other than show support where she could.

“I would like to meet again, Aluminite. I’ll keep an eye out for you,” she said, a small smile making its way back onto her face as she finally released his hands and took an actual step away from him, towards the gas station. “I’ll be okay. Thank you. And I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble,” she winced sheepishly and limped backwards again, before turning to she could find where the ice was.

The captain desperately wanted to believe Connie, because he thought that he was a good person, or that he tried at the very least and that had to count. Aluminite had been looking down when she pulled away, startled until he realized what he was doing and he let her take his hands easily. His green-eyed gaze didn't life, instead focusing on the hands wrapped around his and marveling at how small they were in comparison to his own.

"Okay." He nodded, swallowing thickly when he finally raised his head, searching Connie's face for some sort of certainty or promise. "If I - " he didn't want to say it, the if I remember you that sat heavy in his head. His memories were a mess as it were but he hoped that even if he didn't that he would at least remember her kindness. "I'm gonna hold you to that."

That seemed like a safe, hopefully true, sort of thing to say.

Making friends with the "enemy" was likely a bad idea, but Aluminite still couldn't see a reason not to, because he didn't understand how anyone would look at someone like Connie and think this is a bad person.

"I hope we do," he agreed, arms dropping back to his sides as he watched her carefully back away. "I'll keep my eye out for you." He wished there was an easier way, some way he could offer to meet up with her or find her without trouble but...

That was wishful thinking and he didn't think he was allowed to have too much of what he might want these days.

"Nah, I'm the one that fell on you." Because he'd been careless, as usual. "Stay safe Connie." He lifted a hand to wave, then slipped back the way they'd come.
