Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Youkimi didn't want to give up. The thought threatened to plunge her into depression. No... She certainly didn't want that.
However.... if there was a means of granting work to the people there, then they could sustain themselves long enough, and strengthen the economy there enough, to break apart the ground and find the best way to make the land green and fruitful again. If there were enough mines to provide stable work...
That opened up happier thoughts in her mind. Stars of hope...
"If we can open those mines, that will solve multiple problems simultaneously." Her eyes stared blankly ahead, through Dixon, and possibly beyond him. It might have been a bit unnerving to watch. "The revenue will invite interest, trade would encourage the workers there and stabilize money-flow. It will also allow outside resources the freedom to be utilized in other ventures such as testing the soil and finding out what grows best... Perhaps we can uncover the farmland and dirt that have been spared from the fire."
She nodded slightly. Yes... it was a preparatory plan, at least for now. Her eyes focused on Dixon, now prepared to address him and ask a few more questions. "How much manpower and funds do you need to uncover the mines we do know about?"

✺Forgotten Son BACK IN THE--shh! Oh... Sorry.
Back in the library. Felt nice, felt good. Felt like home for Youkimi, that's for sure. The only place Dixon would agree was safe and quiet enough to hold this type of meeting. He wasn't going to chance anything for a while. This place was public and private at the same time. Can't very well write letters in a movie theater, so this was it. Quick scan, table, chair, pen, hand.
"Right..." he looked at Youkimi expectantly. "Let's get started, huh?"

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
It was a simple matter to land and enter the library. Having spent a great deal of time here over the past months, she knew who to talk to to gain access to quills, ink, and paper to write on. She obtained these and soon set up a space at an available writing desk, setting what she brought across it almost in a ritualistic manner. She was going to work here, so she would claim her space, and this seemed to be a straightforward, if methodical process.
When this was straightened out, she sat down, she braced her arms on the table, and looked across the way to Dixon. "Shall we?"
She knew that she needed to try to contact the queen again, only this time, she wanted to ensure her success. She knew also that she should try and contact the anonymous sender of the letter she received earlier that day. Among the things to be done was an honest and deep review of the plans that were options, both Dixon's and the one proposed by the prince and council. She was ready.

"Sickly little boys sometimes become powerful men." An odd figure would be seen wandering around the various shelves of the library, picking out thick leather bound books and stacking them over his arm. The eyepatch, his most outstanding feature, besides the infamous dark hair, he wasn't from around here, he clearly didn't belong there. Not to mention the Phobosian stench of trouble-not literal stench. But he wasn't doing anything wrong, neither was he stealing the books, he was simply stacking them along with a few more he had set on a desk with a few papers and a quill. He seemed to be quite content in his own company, humming quietly to himself with his stack of books and laying them down one by one before going over to see if he could find more that he'd like. It wasn't like he was simply stacking books and making the librarians lives miserable, he was actually jotting down notes in the papers he had laying there. Probably one of the "experiments" he was planning for, or something he was looking for? Either way, that was classified information. Sitting back down on his desk, he would slip on a pair of reading glasses. Glasses.. He had only a single eye, what was the point? Well, none really, he wore framed correctionless glasses at times to probsbly seem like an intellectual person. Was that even needed? Not really, but he liked it and it phased no one around him so it shouldn't matter. Adjusting his dark metal frame to the bride of his nose, he peered over to the corner of his eye and noticed the odd pair near by. They weren't necessary noisy to distract him, but he could use a little quiet. He turned to them and shushed them when they seemed to just be confirming if they would begin what ever they were planning on doing, turning his gaze back to his open books and sheets. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Company: No one || Mood: indifferent || Duke || ♆ || Where: Bellris Library || Ren ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ♆ Occ: sorry for the sad opening post e u e

✺Forgotten Son Outfit (Oh, that's not a problem. c: It's probably not as bad as you think.) Dixon didn't even see the guy come in, more focused instead on Youkimi's meticulous preparations. He always admired that attention to detail, and he coud tell by how serious she was this was going to be a very well-written, direct letter--or at least he hoped so. To be honest, he was probably projecting a lot of that, but it was nice to go on thinking these thoughts of victory over indistinct footbeats and the dusty symphony of scooting chairs, turning pages--probably even heartbeats and breathing at some point, though listening for them would be like trying to understand the purpose or addition of some obscure plucker in the rows of a real symphony. The Duke was one of these.
One could only go on looking at these vestigial band members for so long before it drove them mad. And whose concert was it? It could be that Youkimi and Dixon were performing; perhaps, then, this rude shh'r wasn't interested? Was he tuning them? Was the music to be had held within the pages of those books? Dixon was thinking a simpler way about as he turned and quickly sized up the offender. Maybe it was simpler; that this place was the band and this guy was the irksome plucker who usurped attention in exchange for something that couldn't even been noticed anyway...
RIGHT!
"... Mm." Dixon closed his eyes and shook his head, turning back to Youkimi and continuing as though nothing had happened. This chap wasn't about to boss them around.
"Right then. Let's start with how many parties we have to address." He held up a hand and began counting on his fingers. "First there's the council as a whole, then then headmistress, then the prince, then the..." And so on for a spell.
"Next we have our terms. The way I see it, we're in a position to demand they deliver better results--I doubt it very much if they would be willing to let themselves lose face to us, being more refined and from Ethe!" He whispered it all, but it was audible to the tables around. He saw no reason to start speaking any lower right off, but as time went on he and Youkimi would lower the volume even more so as to hide the content of the letter.

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
She arranged her workplace and processed her thoughts. Yes, she knew of at least two, for the start. However, just before Dixon continued the conversation, a voice lifted to shush the two of them. She turned and looked at the stranger, seeing someone who looked up to them from where he sat. There was an eyepatch over one part of his face, gold iris almost accusing because of the disturbance they were making with their conversation.
Attractive features for a dragon, she offhandedly noted. He turned soon enough to his books and works. Whatever it was he was working on, clearly he didn't want a distraction. Fortunately enough, there was room enough in the library for them all to find their own place if their discussion became too loud for the stranger.
Youkimi's attention returned to Dixon and the matter they came to the library for. She freed a paper and a pen. She then began to write and take down those she wanted to pen a letter to. The letters she wanted to compose would be different, basically. The letter she wanted to pen to the queen would be respectful and straightforward, requesting an audience. The letter she would pen to the prince of Bellris would be inquiring, but direct... She didn't know enough members of the council to inquire further. She would inquire of the prince the letter she received from the stranger that only mentioned the head councilwoman in letter. She wanted to confirm legitimacy. Perhaps a letter addressed to the council as a whole would be worth the ink, as it would help address the issue in question and perhaps set up a conversation they could begin to discuss. This could allow them to set the stage for solving the real problem.
The terms that they wanted.... assistance to rebuild the farms of Ethe. The country still had gem veins and mines as a resource.
"A good place to begin." She noted and brought forth another paper for her notes, things she might wish to include in the letters. "What are our resources? What do we lack?"

"Sickly little boys sometimes become powerful men." The male's attention would shift from his book to the odd pair there that wouldn't bother from his little shush. How troublesome. He would roll his single eye, planning on ignoring them, at least for the lovely woman's sake but something about the young man's face made him want to pick at him a little. Really now, this wasn't surprising coming from a man who wasn't even mentally stable. With the male speaking, he could clearly hear him whisper. He could see through one eye and had a fairly good vision, but his sense of hearing and most other senses were more sensitive to compensate for the loss of a single eye. Even the slightest sound could catch his attention, in this case, the whispering male. He would shift his gaze back to the pair, putting the quill down with which he had scribbled a few more notes. He took a moment to observe them and then glance away, the mischievous side of his head already had taken over by now. A shadow would be creeping towards them from under his foot, heading particularly towards the male and crept up his back unnoticeably. Without warning, it curled around the lose locks that hung around the back of his neck and gave a gentle yet noticeable yank to them. A sly smirk curling on his lips as he waited for him to react. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Company: No one || Mood: indifferent || Duke || ♆ || Where: Bellris Library || Ren ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ♆ Occ: ; u ; thank you~ Sorry for the poo post again, I don't know what I was thinking xD

✺Forgotten Son Outfit Resources, important things, time, yes, all of it. Dixon was sure he had what they needed. All the details were dolled out at length. He started with the estimated mining capabilities; they were of course a little less than Ethe standards, but this wasn't the time to be hung up on the past. The count estimated that with their workforce it would take upwards of four years to unearth all those discovered on his land, however this estimate was without dividing manpower to tend the fields In short, they were going to--
"AGH!" The mirror-like silence of the library was shattered and repopulated by a cascading SHH! from those nearby. They all shared in it, handed it down until it finally found the tables where mischief had woven its curly leg into the fastidious steps of progress. A minor trip was a major spectacle here in the land of pride and plutocracy.
"What the heck was that?" The count was left scratching his head, looking back briefly only to find there was no one within arm's reach of him. He shook himself, giving up the phantom's chase with a shrug and turning to Youkimi.
"... Sorry about that. Let's get back to work, hm?" Regardless of appearances, there was the sneaking suspicion that it was the shh-er from earlier. It had to be! ... Right?

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Youkimi took notes as they discussed the points and things that they would bring up to those in the council and to the queen. Youkimi thought about how to bring up the different points when she came to those moments. They began to work through some plans and things that they could do with the people they currently had. Fortunately, there were things they could also do once they had support-
She stopped and looked up, as did most of the other occupants of the library at the sudden outburst. While most shushed the offending count, Youkimi's expression shifted to confusion and concern. Dixon wasn't prone to shouting out like that. What happened?
She watched him look around, and heard his question. Something happened and he didn't know what it was? She gave a cursory glance around, not sure of what she expected to see. She hadn't heard the rushing footsteps of a playful child. Was it a prank or a warning from something? She saw that someone hadn't shushed them... but he was just watching with a smirk on his face. Amused?
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she studied the gold-eyed stranger, but she was drawn from analysis by the count, who returned her attention back to the work at hand. She moved her eyes back to Dixon, seeing that he was apologetic and ready to move on. She was still confused and puzzled, but.... what could be done about it now?
She continued her notes and offered a few thoughts of her own concerning the plans and the things they needed to cover. "We understand their plan for the roads, but what can we offer in its place? We'll need a counterargument to be effective."

"Sickly little boys sometimes become powerful men." Clearly amused by the male's outburst and the way he was shush'd by the crowd around him, he wouldn't bother hiding away his smirk before he would continue to read. He decided to give the next tug a little break before he did it again. He would begin to ink down a few more ideas, seeming rather lost in his own world, occasionally brushing his fingers through his hair and then resuming his work again. During all this, he eventually thought it was high time he did it again and there it was, the shadow yanked his hair yet again, this time while the Duke seemed to be minding his own business. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Company: No one || Mood: amused || Duke || ♆ || Where: Bellris Library || Ren ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ♆ Occ:

✺Forgotten Son Outfit (lol Short fuse ftw) Ugh. So sore. Blimey that hurt. Really; Dixon was left to rub his head periodically for some time. It was well into the conversation now, though, and all seemed to be plugging along as it should have. The high-born phoenixes were coming now to the main issue: would they matter enough to this usurer nation to continue the fight? Dixon, of course, was all about it, not wanting to see that they were too invaluable as being decided by facts but rather public opinion. He explained his theory on this, siting that they were now playing to Bellris' pride as farmers with the offer of their new project. He fully intended to goad them into rebuilding the nation just to prove that they could: a mark of a nation truly arrived.
"We need to make them understand how fragile an economy based on farming alone is," said the count. "If we tell them there is room to--GUH!" There it was again. Dixon spun like a vortex this time, locking on to the offender.
"HEY." shhhhhhh! He didn't care, standing with his fist clenched and throwing embers into the cool night air.
"Somehow I don't think this place is haunted... Care to knock it off, mate?" Steely was a bit of an undersell of how Dixon's stare was now.

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
The discussion really had been going along well. She continued to mark down ideas and arguments as they came forth, as well as began listing various pieces of support that they could use within each point to make their stance stronger. They managed to proceed in this manner for a few minutes before there was a sudden angered outburst by Dixon, who wheeled about and leapt to this feet, the flames he accidentally radiated daring to threaten the particular collection of papers that she was working with.
Not quite immediately prepared for such a situation, but at the same time having received plenty of time to practice with the temperament of her friend, she simply breathed in the excess heat, curbing enough of the edge from the flames about her to avoid any conflagration.
He was aggressive again, though who was the one responsible for this, and in turn setting her work just a hair closer to danger? She followed Dixon's line of sight, and somehow managed to keep a vaguely curious expression despite being somewhat less than amused.

"Sickly little boys sometimes become powerful men." The man wasn't necessarily startled by the other's outburst, more or less annoyed though. He might have caused it but he was trying to play oblivious to whatever was happening too. He slammed his fist on the table from the man's outburst, trying to gain his attention as he turned to face him. His brows were knit into a furrow. Poor woman, it was very unfortunate to see her with the barbarian by her. "As an educated man that you may seem, I believe you understand that nobody here is interested in listening to your childish outbursts. Please, leave us here at our peace and quiet that we had before you entered." he said in a polite yet firm tone. He had to pretend he had nothing to do with it, right?! Just to make things worst, the shadow would tug on his hair once again, this time slipping down his body and going back to its source to leave the poor man be once and for all. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Company: No one || Mood: amused || Duke || ♆ || Where: Bellris Library || Ren ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ♆ Occ:

✺Forgotten Son Outfit That, needless to say, didn't defuse the situation at all. The count was not the type to simply back down from a challenge, especially one issued by someone like this. Dixon was sure he could flatten him!
... That wasn't going to happen though. He jolted forward a step, then, as if caught by a chain, held fast a few paces from the offender.
Thinking of it like this was easier: if Dixon blew their reputation in this city now it would be all over; rather it would be much more useful if the count stuck around and protected Youkimi as she wrote the letter. Instincts had a way of taking over like that. Dixon, swallowing his growl and throwing his fist down, took a knee.
"I am sorry for my impetuousness," began the count, no doubt weeping on the inside. "You have much you can demand of us for our offense, for we have cut the silence of the room. Please allow us to stay and finish our business quickly; we shall leave sooner if we do."
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Depending on how generous the shh'r was feeling, Dixon and Youkimi would either finish their letters their or simply take them outside and write them on a step. Either way, there was no chance of their progress being halted by a momentary distraction.
