Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - supplying booze to all
Nathaniel thought that maybe he was getting a little too good with the whole liquor thing. First the one called Bennett, then Adoelle, and now...this guy, whose name Nathaniel had heard was something like Hux but that he couldn't quite be certain.
Either way, he managed to sneak three bottles of good wine back to the man, Nathaniel using all of his wits to wheedle and charm the man at the stairs - which was to say that he just tried taking a lot.
"Here," said Nathaniel, as he came back to Hux, "I've brought you a little present. Three, in fact."Quote: 5 - Three bottles of wine, because why not?? 1 - You take it from someone who's already drank theirself into unconsciousness, surely they won't notice? 1 - Yes, but you had to convince a sloppy drunk to let you through to the stairs.

Finally, Hux looked away from the fire. He regarded the man that had managed to procure three bottles of wine with a dull expression. His countenance was void of emotion, the anger seemingly faded from the forefront of his mind. He gestured for the male to come closer, then took the bottles from him and uncorked the one that looked to be the darkest red. He upturned the bottle and took a long drink. When he was finished, he leveled his gaze at Nathaniel. " Adoelle will be the one murdered tonight... or so she says. I don't know anything other than that, so don't bother asking. Just leave." His focus returned to the fire, but this time he paused to drink every few minutes. kuropeco congrats!! info drop 4 u, booze for hux!

Jamie Delacroix | 25/25 | giving up like a baby
The original plan—before meeting up with Shiloh in the Ivory Hall, that is—had been to ask someone for advice on what to do. After their little conversation, Jamie decided plan b, wandering around until he found something, would serve him better. It might not've been the best idea, but it was all he had. Quite a few stairs later and it actually paid off, too.
Now, encountering Hux wasn't exactly a benefit on its own. In fact, he intimidated the hell out of Jamie. Standing a measly 5'2", the man asking for a vague, alcohol-related favor towered over him like literal giant. It kinda felt like he was back in grade school all over again, except if he'd showed up to class wearing this lacy almost-dress, he probably would've been bullied even worse than he already was.
"Um... I can try?" he answered the request with a question, sounding completely unsure of himself as he trudged back down the stairs. Luckily, finding the alcohol was surprisingly easy. It was a party, after all. Where Jamie went wrong wasn't in the search, it was in the recovery.
He could've taken one bottle, but all three sparkling red wines looked so tantalizing that he was sure Hux would give him something good in return for them. When he got back to the stairs, the bottles heavy and awkward in his arms, he lost the will to keep going. There were just... so many stairs.

Okay so, when Jamie took a moment to actually access the situation, he realized three bottles of wine was probably two bottles too many. Abandoning one of them, he finally willed his wobbling legs to carry him back up the stairs, but upon victoriously presenting his find, he was met with less than favorable results.
Maybe it had been a gag bottle, or maybe someone had replaced the contents with something entirely foreign, but Hux didn't seem to like it very much. In fact, he was choking a little. Jamie took the opportunity to get the hell out of there, fueled solely by embarrassment.

When Jamie ran down the stairs this time, red faced with embarrassment and exhaustion, he knew he had to take a small break. After all, how was he supposed to face Hux now? It was hard enough to face him before he accidentally gagged him. Wheezing, Jamie stopped by a table with refreshments, grabbing a drink of water for himself.

Jamie Delacroix | 25/25 | never give up never surrender Anyone else might've left it at that and walked away, because honestly, who would want to trudge up those stairs for the however-many-th time to present their findings to someone they'd already embarrassed themselves in front of? Not many, most likely, but Jamie was the guilty type. Even if he never saw that man's face again in his life, the idea that he left him hanging would probably haunt him. He had to keep trying.
And, well, Jamie was also nothing if not a glutton for punishment. At the far end of the room, entertaining her presumed friends with her flirtatious antics, was a woman of some Otherworld species Jamie couldn't recognize. Seduced was probably too strong a word, but when Jamie approached he was immediately smothered by her hands and her hugs. She was obviously drunk and far too busy reminding him how cute and small he was to care when he carted off three of her bottles of wine.
Three bottles. Somehow it had come full circle.
This time, though, he managed to cart them up the stairs without quitting. Unfortunately, he happened to drop one of them on the way and spill a bit out of the second, but hey, at least he tried. Hopefully no one would step on the glass...

Hux turned from the flames to regard Jamie with a frown. He took the offered bottles, then he returned the favor with the only bit of information he knew about, in regard to the night's events. " Adoelle will be sacrificed tonight. At least, that's what she thinks. It could be someone else. Who knows, really, until it happens? Now... get out. I want to be alone."

Autumn Smith 25/25, spilling the wine
The charming plant-being from before had been more than willing to hand over the goods, and wow. Three bottles of wine was... a good amount of wine for anyone, let alone a plant. Autumn had almost succeeded on her trip, only to be stymied by the combination of her skirts and dress. She returned empty-handed, and with a sigh, once more went down to attempt to coerce some booze out of someone.

Finally, FINALLY Autumn returned up the stairs, a small and barely-there glass in hand. Without a word, she handed it off to Hux, expression telling of how dead she was on the inside.
"I'm. Not fond of stairs."

There was enough in the bottle to do a quick shot, and Hux did so just as soon as the liquor was handed to him. He set the empty bottle on the marble floor, spared Autumn a glance, then stared into the flames as he spoke. His voice was a dull monotone. " Adoelle will be the one to die tonight. According to her, she's the tithe. I don't really have any reason to trust her, though. I don't trust anyone here. But maybe you do." He huffed, eyes boring into the flame before him. "Leave, now. Shut the door behind you."

Jamie Delacroix | 25/25 | heading back downstairs "Adoelle..." Muttering under his breath, Jamie tried to recall who that might be. She wasn't anyone he'd met before, but with the information Hux had given him, he thought about paying her a visit if he could figure it out. If she was so sure she'd be sacrificed, maybe she knew more, too.
"I see... thank you, um, for the information." With that, he was quick to leave, because that frown was quite the opposite of inviting.
