Quote: 5 mention something cerebral like philosophy 2 the wine man, it's good wine 2 alois thinks i'm an idiot (fail) [25/25 | EVE]: ... "So," she'd suggested, "have you read Foucault?" And he spoke on it for a while, Eve thought, as she sipped eagerly at the wine and... started to get bored as well as tipsy. Ten minutes into the conversation, and she had nodded off, only to come snapping back to reality upon realizing she'd just been asked the same question three times. Naturally, she'd gotten so lost she couldn't give the intuitive sort of answer she otherwise could have, instead gaping and blinking a few times to focus until giving a noncommittal mumble and a shrug.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || dying inside Alois stared dully at the other man. „Of course I haven’t read anysing good lately. I’f been submitted to human trafficking by way of manual labor. I’d murder for a good book right now, so cliff notes me on somesing.“ Alois waited for the man to continue with something - anything - that reminded him of the literary arts in the real world. The Faerie Ball hosted nothing of the sort for him here, and the Burning Man ensured that all his time was spent performing mundane, brainless tasks while July goaded him.
In fact, as he thought about it, July was his only source of mental stimulation lately.
„Hej,“ he called to the apparent lush sitting across from him. Nothing. Alois snapped his fingers a couple times. „Wino, you got anysing to say? You can’t just tease me along wis’ a promise of book conversation and zen drink yourself into a stupor. Dumbass…“

Chris Watts || 25/25 || ******** in a stupor
Well, this was a ******** awful conversation. The wine was supposed to make it better but he was starting to feel a little dizzy and Alois, who was looking about as bad as Chris was starting to feel, was not helping.
"I'm sorry," He said thickly, taking a moment to stare at the ground. "Just uh, Just give me a minute. I'll try again. Sorry."
Jesus, this was going to be a long night.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Actually trying this time
Once he had taken his moment, he sat back up, feeling a bit better. "Okay, I'm sorry about that. We were at books, right?" He said, pouring a little more wine. He considered what he had read lately as he took another sip (and seriously, this was good wine. He was stealing a bottle for Hux, it was decided), savoring the taste while also wondering how to start.
He almost got distracted again but this time, put down the glass and then gave him a sigh. "I'm sorry, actually. I haven't read anything lately, nothing good. Unless you want to hear about Howl's Moving Castle, which I have memorized basically. What did you read, if anything, before this?" He asked, fiddling with the stem of the glass.
This was going awful, but at least he hadn't gone into a stupor over the wine again.

Autumn Smith 25/25, wanting to see Leonardo Dicaprio in Batman "So. You see Inception?" Autumn hedged, now pleasantly into wine-drunk territory. She looked at the guy she thought she'd been talking to (and of COURSE it'd been some kind of fairy, ******** fairies, seriously), and offered a s**t eating grin.
"I'll still defend it's a good movie. Makes me sad everyone in it was in Batman but Leo, though. Poor guy."
Yeah. She'd had a few, at this point.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || Alois sighed. This man was more interested in the wine than any semblance of conversation. Could he be blamed? Alois doubted it; he wouldn’t be terribly interested in talking to a man with a potentially deadly spider on his head either. Finally Alois laced his knuckles together and responded. „Yes, we were at books. Ze last sing I remember reading was a copy of Ze Bell Jar by Sylvia Plat’. I wanted to compare it to Ze Snake Pit, Ward’s novel, which came out first. It sparked somesing of a revolution where you haf’ ozzer books exposing ze terrible nature of mental institutions in ze 1950s, like Girl, Interrupted…“ Alois continued on, providing a dissertation on 1950s history and how each book pointed toward women’s rights and which ones might’ve been spinoffs based on author history.
Finally he concluded his novel history, and took a sip of his own wine glass. He shook his head, then smiled faintly. „Sorry, Zis place is getting to me. Zis Dinner Seatre Murder Mystery bullshit is somesing else entirely. Ezra said somesing about sacrificing one of ze deer triplets, and I sink I would prefer zat, because not only could zey become venison for a good meal, but at least I’d survif’e.“

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || going from tipsy to sad “I’f seen it. Of course I’f seen it. It’s a damned hard movie to hate on. I can’t really find anysing wrong wis’ it. Zere are sings I didn’t care for, like ze need for a romance angle, but it was written shortly before ze overarching push toward less focus on ze stereotypical romance angle I belief’. It’s kind of like Dreamscape, but better. And I sink zat Nolan did an excellent job in winding basic action plots into ze world to bring Inception to a larger audience. Kill a man in his dream. In his own dream.
„But isn’t it like us, here, now?“ He gestured arms wide to the whole of the place. „Can you not define zis as a dream? We’re spinning away at our own little yarns here while ze Burning Man plots his murder. One of ze deer triplets will be done for, but will it really matter if it’s all a dream wis’in a dream wis’in a dream?“

Ashton Carver: 25/25 / Ruining her employer-employee relationship Ashton had a moment of polite silence as Alois fumed, and then -- and then she smiled, in a particularly unpleasant way, black lips peeled all the way back to show too many too sharp teeth. (Her lipstick had changed, too, in those few seconds it took for her to begin speaking -- a glossy white, now.) "Of course I don't understand anything -- why would I? I'm too busy going to school, like a reasonable adult, to waste my God-damn time ******** around in some half-imaginary faerieland! God forbid my life be complicated enough already without something else I have no <******** control over!" At those last words, Ashton stood up -- shoving her chair back, knuckles white -- and splashed the remaining contents of her wineglass in his face, storming out of the cellar with her tail bushy as anything behind her. Hetzerei exit, pursued by a wolverine

[ Temperance: 25/25 hey, hey u] She sat down because he looked so listless and glassy-eyed that she worried he might be on the way to alcohol poisoning. The fairie ball likely didn't provide ambulances to the nearest hospital. That was, of course, he was human and could be affected by such a condition. Perhaps alcohol was not involved at all. Still, she sat and when he leaned forward, she did as well. "And, um, how do you find the b-ball?" A banal topic; her lips twisted. She was never very good at conversation. "Wait, ah, how long have you been here? You make it sound like eons rather than a few hours." Surely everything wasn't as boring as all that. She shifted in her seat, interlocking her hands on the table in front of her. Something was bothering her about this man. "... don't I know you? Needle and thread, right?" Wasn't this the man who'd tried stitching up some poor souls in Blackfriars? Temperance frowned and peered closely at his face, trying to see past the paint.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || being drunk When Temperance inquired of the ball, Alois drew a long sigh and dropped his head. Long bangs whispered against the warm mahogany table. He recalled, vaguely, the beginnings of it; mostly he felt the long ache of legs and arms from carting wine here and there. „I find it a monumental pain in my a**. I’f never liked parties; I always passed on invitations growing up. Yet at twenty-one I’m stuck in here, playing slaf’e to a man on fire. Fat stroke of luck, isn’t it?“
He grasped a wine glass delicately and swirled the merlot within. Deep in color, he held it up to peer through shortly before sipping it. „It’s been longer for me zan it has for you. Let’s put it zat way. But, I doubt I’ll be leaving until ze Burning Man gets to sacrifice one of ze deer triplets. Who knows how long zat will take?“
She asked of a meeting, and he laughed mirthlessly. „I don’t know. It’s hard to remember anymore.“ He peered at her for a time, while the spider atop his head spun a long thread down to hang near his shoulder. Spindly legs grasped at the strand with flawless grace. It landed on his collarbone without incident. Carefully, then, it strode toward his neck, up the collar, and behind his ear to wholly disappear. If he registered its movements, he didn’t show it. „… Maybe. You look familiar. Ze only time I remember using a needle was at ze job faire. Someone needed stitches before zey bled out and died.“

[ Temperance: 25/25 judging Alois] "Playing slave - why?" The man on fire must mean that strange ever-burning man. "Can't you just.... leave?" She fell silent as Alois continued talking, jumping in her chair a little. The spider was weird, but a lot of things were weird here. She would have smacked that ******** right off of herself, though. "You! You... y-you know that wasn't sanitary! Oh my god it is you." Temperance put her head down on her arms and groaned.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || huffy mchufftown That wasn’t sanitary! Came her objection.
„Duh,“ Alois answered back lamely. „But do you really sink infection is going to be a problem if zey bleed out and die first? It doesn’t matter.“ He waved the matter away with the flick of a wrist. „I haf’ no intentions of doing zat again. I don’t find any joy in helping people.
„And I especially find no joy in slavery. Trust me - if I could walk out of here, don’t you sink I’d be gone by now? I don’t enjoy dancing around chucking wine to and fro while a spider makes a nest out of my head. Zat little shitbag caused me to fall down ze stairs wis’ sree bottles of merlot.“ He held up three fingers to cover the difficulty of his accent - pinky, ring, and middle. „But I shouldn’t say more. Ze walls haf’ ears, you know. It doesn’t pay to haf’ loose lips in a place like zis.“
