Chain-Smoking Rabbit Vaughn: 25/25, hissy averted, now just suspiciously silent and walking out like a diva He didn't argue, even though he hated this nickname more than Bennett. Rabbit held a spot near the door while the others spoke, as he had under different circumstances so many times before. It was difficult now, with so many people around, harder to hide his disdain for the situation when there were witnesses to the behavior he engaged in behind closed doors. In the lull that followed Finn's departure, he crossed the room, pulling a pair of cigarettes out of the sash that cinched his waist and handing them over.
His mind was full of cliches and movie quotes—don't say I never gave you anything; keep them secret, keep them safe; try not to smoke 'em all in one place—but he voiced none of them. With a narrowing of his eyes, he simply turned, following the ranger silently out of the cellar. He had come to give Alois the damn cigarettes anyway, he had just been hoping to have the freedom to fight back.

[ Temperance: 25/25 gross spiders] "Can't you just, uh, squash the spider? Why are you wearing one anyway?" She had decided to drop the topic of stitching up people, for now. It was ridiculous, though. He hadn't been trained to know when someone absolutely needed stitches. The threat of infection or stitching something into the wound was very real. "You should've found a health professional," she muttered.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || no lighter? q_q "Wait," he called after Rabbit, "what about- ... ********. Sanks for giving me cigarettes wis'out a goddamned lighter, a*****e." Alois raised his middle finger salute to the doorway where Rabbit had been moments before.
Afterward, his attention returned to Temperance. Alois stared at her dully. „Do you always ask stupid questions? I could squish ze spider, but zere’s probably repercussions for it. Knowing my luck I’ll get told to go break rocks wis’ a pickaxe to make up for it. No, it stays on my head, as much as I don’t want it zere.“ He folded arms across chest. He heard a faint mutter from her, but said nothing of it if he registered the words.
„Spiders aside, I haf’ much bigger problems here. Zis spider might just be my ticket to good fortune if it proves deadly poisonous. But I doubt he’d make such an oversight. No, he never did before.“ Alois resumed looking through the wines, and started pulling the bottles to line up the wines by type. Zinfandel, cab sauv, merlot, malbec, pinot noir, shiraz each met their own portion of the table in preparation for future deliveries.
„Look,“ he started, too busy to spare her a look in the eye, „I don’t see why you’re concerning yourself wis’ me. Consider it a blessing zat I’m stuck here.“

[ Temperance: 25/25 huffs right back] "Wow, excuse me for not remembering it was some kind of magic spider." She frowned heavily at him. "A blessing that you're stuck - why?" She wasn't giving up so easily, especially when there was more than met the eye going on here.

He laced both hands atop a bottle, placing enough pressure on the cork that he hoped it would squeeze back into its confines. „Why, you ask? Because you’ve decided I’m s**t for company since you laid eyes on me back at Blackfriars. Why else? Oh, right,“ he mused, drawing meaningless circles through the air. „Because if it wasn’t me, it’d be someone else. And zat someone else might be someone you actually like. Someone you care for.
Now wouldn’t zat be a travesty?“

If a) if would bring him to his senses and, b) she hadn't taken an oath to do no unnecessary harm, Alois would have found himself with a palm cracked across his face. "Who is keeping you here? How can I get you out, then?" What was even going on at this ball?

Autumn Smith: 25/25, still here, sulking Autumn had fallen into a lull when Finn spoke with Alois, not wanting to interrupt. For now, the wine was set aside, as she focused a bit more on forcing herself to sober up. Not that it was really helping, but the effort was being made. She listened to the exchanges, trying to pick up on the bits and clues to tie all of this bullshit together. It was a lot more Shitty Game of Clue than her own kidnapping had been, and holy s**t, she REALLY shouldn't have let Alexis hand her so many glasses. This was not boding well for the rest of the night.
"That's just what your Melany told me. Masks are magical, they protect you from being killed. Having one means you're safe, not having one means you could be a victim."
She glanced over to Temperance, and nodded.

Alois looked to her, cocking a brow. He almost smiled. His mouth opened slightly, tongue poised to produce another snide remark, but he paused without a word. Afterward his expression grew more serious. „I was taken here some time ago by a man on fire. Ezra, his name is. He likes it when we call him Dad.
„I do not know what price he has on us, if any. I don’t know what will give him cause to release us - or if he ever will. He has done excellently at keeping us in ze dark.
„If you want to get us out, you can chance asking him. Or Melany - ze Spinel Lady. Everyone seems interested in a favor around here. Maybe you can trade a little work for zose answers.“
He glanced to Autumn, or her mask rather, when she spoke. He relaxed somewhat, as if news of danger proved easier to take than the mystery of it all. "I see. I guess my twin upstairs is safe and sound while I stand high chance of getting murdered. Looks like you won't haf' to deal wis' my insufferable attitude much longer," he added with a mirthless chuckle.
"What else has she told you? I imagine she's got plenty of secrets to share."

Autumn Smith 25/25, sharing information "He's a complete and utter c**k. ******** that guy, with an icicle, preferably," Autumn snapped, scowling in distaste. She didn't care that his name was Ezra, or that he HAD a name, for that matter. The ******** had put her in the hospital, and no matter how much wine she drank or a** she needed to kiss, she wasn't going to forgive that.
"I'm goddamn lucky I'm a ******** healer, or he could've ruined my life. ******** tried to smoke my lungs out when Zac wouldn't give him his heart." And a damn good thing he hadn't. Autumn would've found a way to bring him back from the dead, just so she could wring his neck herself.
If losing your heart even killed you, here. She'd watched Once Upon a Time. She knew the possibilities.
"I've heard... a few things," Autumn shrugged, not really confident in herself. "Some of it overlaps, some of it feels like s**t. Burning douchebag doesn't want a human to die, the little weasel thing said he's in for someone who once had human ancestry. I don't know enough to piece it all together." She glanced over to Alois, unamused.
"Call me crazy, I don't think you're gonna die. Unless you're not human anymore, yourself."

[ Temperance: 25/25 thinking 2 hard about icicle dildos] "Wouldn't it just melt?" she murmured. He was, presumably, entirely on fire, which, also presumably, included any orifices. She did listen attentively - she'd had no idea Zac had run into Ezra before, but then again, they mainly talked about books. Her hands twisted together. All she wanted was for no one to die; that'd be great. "He told me that, too - about not wanting a human to die. But I guess it depends on what he considers human. I also heard the last member of the committee isn't chosen yet and anyone can be on it..." She paused. "So... what's this twin stuff? And how many does Ezra have?"

„I don’t sink Ezra is lying. He’s too straightforward for zat. As far as I know I am still human, but… I don’t know. Zis place has a way of making you second-guess myself. Who knows what might’f happened to me during all zat time working here?“ He shrugged, and his spider meandered around on its web. „I don’t sink zere will be an answer for anyone here as long as zey play by ze court’s rules. Chaos never lies.“ He finished without explanation.
Alois heard the question of twin affairs, and shot her a silencing glance. „Maybe it’s not for you to know.
„I don’t know who will be ze last member of ze committee, or how zey are chosen. If you’re going to try and pry information out of anyone, you’ll haf’ to play by zeir rules. All guests here are at a natif’ disadvantage given zat you’re playing in ze court’s home terrain. Bear zat in mind.“

Zac Bantock - 25/25 - Here to continue conversations from the Favor thread. ((Clueless he’s got freaky eyes now I figure)) “Ah, oh hi! Autumn! Temperance!” He blinked in surprise to see them both there. He gave something that was between a curtsy and a bow, it sort of fit his costume. “I was...I came to talk to…” He waved his hand towards Alois. After his terrible, terrible start there had been the start of a truly interesting conversation. “Ezra, that’s...the Burning Man? That’s his name?” He started. He really needed to pass that on to Jeremiah later. “You, said you hopes he gets his way for a choice, I just um, He hasn’t been exactly nice to, well anyone I know whom is human. Shouldn’t we maybe worry a little bit that he might not have -our- interests at heart when he puts forth a Vote? I guess… I just don’t think I know what you must to make you feel that way.” He was trying to be polite, more so than he’d managed before. Certainly he wasn’t going to try German again, and the glass of wine he’d imbibed wasn’t going to help at all with mixing pronunciation rules in his head. “Sorry if you guys have gone over this already” He added ducking his head slightly. He went so far as to reach up to tug at his braid, except that thanks to the Ball, it was not currently there and he instead tugged at an earring to distract himself a little from his social discomfort and awkwardness. Dang he wished Mogget had tagged along, but then he might have dissolved into bones, it just wasn’t worth the risk.

The spider descended one long bone antler and lighted on the tip of his index finger. „I see your concern, but I don’t put a lot of stock in it. One sing you haf’ to bear in mind wis’ ozzer Ashdown, I find, is zat it is a culture formed far outside of ours. You may expect zat someone like him should be warm towards you, or to ze rest of your people, but Father is not a warm man. Well,“ he paused, and chuckled. „He’s not emotionally warm. He doesn’t need to be. Zat necessity is a construct of our culture, not necessarily his.
„I don’t blame you for doubting him. You know so little about him, where I’f known him for significantly longer. If he didn’t care, do you sink I would be alif’e today? No - he could’f simply murdered me long ago. But he finds use for me, or interest in me, or perhaps he actually empat’izes wit’ me. I can’t say. But I don’t doubt his intentions.“
Alois sighed, then, as if drained by the conversation. The spider continued its journey down his knuckles to his hand. „In any case, if he does get his way, what do ze deer triplets mean to anyone here? Haf’ you met zem? Do you care for zem?“

"As much perhaps as I know about 'Father'...whom seems to call himself my Guardian's Father as well, maybe I should try calling him Grandfather and see how that goes, but then again there is a painting of me in Sunny's house by Mister Prividaniye, so they may each know us better than we know them." He took a breath and let it out. "I know they aren't human, but in so much as I have been lost here for a full week, seen lungs burned out, been eaten, and seen one of the Fey try and steal my friend's SOUL because they wanted to get to 'Regular' Ashdown." He shrugged. It seems many of them can come closer to human motivations than they would want us to think. "The Peaceful one is friends with my friend Autumn, I don't know the Pridefulone, and I don't know their...Sister?" He hesitated at the word and then shook his head. "I know we're supposed to keep the masks on, that it makes us safer but you don't seem to have one,neither did Adoelle, I know whomever or whatever they choose as sacrifice is 'Of human decent' and If the Siblings are, then I admit surprise there. I mean Pax tends to look like SlenderMan and Bambi had a child." "I just mean, that from what I do know, what I have seen there is a chance he could just be toying with us.
