"Overnight, at least. I need to not be here." He stood in front of Ed, squinting at him just a bit -- like he was trying to figure out what was going inside his head. It as still, just vaguely, challenging. Maybe Asher always had a bit of that in him. Especially with tall people. "What do you want?" He raised one eyebrow as he asked it.

That was understandable. A lot had happened in a short amount of time, and obviously there were chosen that had come back from the Alps in a lot worse shape than Ed had. He's missed part of the fun, they hadn't, from what he's heard, it had been pretty hellish from beginning to end. Asher moved to stand in front of him, and Ed's head lifted, brows arching as well. There was something to the smaller man, a near constant challenge, or at least that's how it seemed. He was tempted to catch him by the hips. Drag him in... Instead he shrugged one shoulder, offering up a lopsided smile. "Making sure you made it back in one piece."

"You think I can't take care of myself?" Nothing Ed could do was right, apparently. He stepped past, finally, to close the suitcase forcefully [there, with just another bit of a wince around the edges] and then pointedly zip it up. He settled his hand on it, still watching Ed with that light in his eyes. "You think just because I'm not a giant, I can't manage? Not even after I kicked your a** so thoroughly?"

Pale eyes narrowed at the question, the implication attached to it, and the expression that settled on his face was incredulous, and just a little flustered. "I'm pretty sure I didn't say either of those things." Hadn't meant to imply them either, but Asher seemed to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, or a combative personality, or,possibly, was in the mood to pick a fight. Ed couldn't tell, byut he was sure as not going to provide ammunition. "What I am saying, is after coming to I didn't see you--or anyone else even remotely familiar--for the rest of the s**t storm in the mountains." He wasn't exactly a fan of explaining things out that made it clear he actually gave a damn, it made him feel twitchy and uncomfortable, exposed. "I don't think size or skill has anything to do with survivability against freak accidents or s**t you don't see coming." Like giant chunks of ice to the back of the skull. It went unsaid, but the shift of a hand to touch gingerly at the lump on the back of his head might have made it clear.

Asher's intention was to throw the bag up over his shoulder in an easy sort of way except -- that wasn't how it played out. Instead he got it about halfway up off the bed and then went Ashen, blinking a couple times and whatever clever little pain in the a** thing he'd been about to say dead on his tongue. He turned the motion, instead, to shoving the bag into Ed's arms, whether he want it or not. Then he paused. He needed to catch his breath and clear his vision. "...uh huh. Guilt, then. You can carry that to make up for it." For his part, Asher would just shove his feet into shoes, still wobbly.

Had he not thrust the bag into his arms, Asher would have found a pair of sturdy hands supporting him as his skin paled and he looked about ready to fall over. As it was, the bouncer still managed to adjust the luggage to free up one hand. This hand found it's way to the small of Asher's back, or as close to it as he could reach. He wanted to ask if the dark haired man was sure he should be leaving just yet, but he seriously doubted his concern would be taken for what it was. "Sure, guilt. Fine." That wasn't it, but he let it go. "Planning on visiting anyone while you're there, family...?"

"I'm going home for the weekend, anyway." He smacked Ed's hand away in an idle sort of way, finally grabbing his keys off the dresser -- and then, for just a moment, Asher hesitated like he was trying to decide if he should carry around the dagger sitting next to them as well. His hand hovered over it for a moment, head tipped. Then, with a sigh, he let it be, gesturing for Ed to follow him out into the hall. Apparently he was going to carry Asher's bag all the way to the Hearth. "I don't get why you're mother henning me."

That was an evasion, not an answer, but the comment was enough to shut the taller man up, at least for a few moments. He wasn't mother hemming, or at least didn't think so. Showing interest, being concerned...Sniffing sharply, he adjusted his grip on the bag, got to his feet, and follower rd Asher out of his room. It was hard to tell what the other man was thinking, impossible, in fact. Made it hard to tell if the interest Ed was showing was being received well, or at all. He didn't bother responding until they were outside, and the bouncer had had a moment to consider his answer. Even then, it wasn't exactly articulate or witty. He just couldn't seem to manage it at the moment. "Just curious."

Asher snorted at him -- but didn't say much, not just now. Making his way up the hill to the Hearth was usually a nothing task, but today, it was exhausting, and probably for the best that he had someone to carry his things on the way up. Lugging a bag over yon would have been an impossible task, really, would have worn him down to nothing before he passed through the Hearth. Still. By the time he was there, even dripping with sweat and shaky-armed, he reach out to grab his bag back from Ed so he could make his way through all on his own. "You want me to text you to say I got there safe?" It was perfect sarcasm. It almost sounded earnest.

The bag was handed over without a fuss, smile amused and lingering. "If anything happens to you, I'll actually have to go out of my way to be friendly and meet more people." It was said with the sort of air that accompanied a very undesirable task, but with enough sarcasm to make it obvious he was at least half joking. It wasn't like Ed was terribly out going, or approachable. The offer for a text was met with a snort, the taller man not falling for the pain in the a** retort. "Have fun."

Asher let it go, dragging his bag over to the Hearth and to his vacation -- and before he stepped into the fire, he just blew Ed a brief, mocking kiss goodbye.
