His first attempt at sidling food away did not go so well.
Nathaniel had been hoping for something a lot more...well, more, since there was nothing on the plate. On the one hand, he'd gotten the food.
On the other, by the time Nathaniel tried to return, it was too cold and too late and he thought, maybe, that he'd ruined things, which was a rather unfortunate disappointment. Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - still on a mission
By the time he made it back to the gentleman, Nathaniel was slightly out of breath and his left leg was itching too much, but at least he'd made it back. He'd started off with a plate of what looked to be some sort of canapes, but now was carrying a dish laden with cream puffs and tiny somethings wrapped in some sort of bacon.
At least, it looked like bacon. Nathaniel hadn't asked as he'd swiped the dish.
"Here you are, sir," he said lightly to the gentleman, extending the plate out towards him. [ Temperance: 25/25 back again] The gentleman with the golden horns had said it was best to get on this one's good side.... So this time she carefully chose her target, pilfered some food, and... put it back. It was just rude. Maybe it was rude to put food back, too, but nevertheless. Temperance dusted at a spot of powdered sugar (or fairy cocaine) on her dress and sighed.

[ Temperance: 25/25 kicks rocks sadly] No, she couldn't just give up and let little things like scruples get in her way. Especially with what had happened with the space worm.... Even thinking about it made her face flush brightly. She shook her head and inched her way back over to the man in the plague doctor mask. Plague doctors were often used as motifs in games, and that coupled with their medical history meant she had quite the soft spot for them. He was there with the golden-horned fellow, and their conversation meant that, perhaps, just perhaps, she could sneak some food. Ah damn. This was the Sinister something-or-other! Temperance quietly slipped a handpie from his nearby plate and not-so-casually bolted back.The crust had a bite out of the side, but hopefully, it would still be acceptable.

jeremiah mercer || 27/27 || stealing from another visitor There were thoughts on his mind now but Jeremiah was not quite sure what to do with them. If this was part of a process to weaken or keep the enemy caged then- No, this was not the time to think about it. Jeremiah was a man on a mission. A man very quickly looking for food to steal for someone who may, in fact, be the father of Sunny. It took him wandering from room to room for a little while before he notices both Wil and Nasir (they are hard to miss in their outfits) as they are piling desserts up on a plate. Algie had managed to get the gentleman a meal, now it was time for dessert. The detective lieutenant waits and watches until they look away, the pair distracted by what looks like another one of the plant people he tried to escort out, before he uses that ability of his to teleport next to the table and pluck up the plate. He disappears back away before they turn their attention back. Jeremiah takes a moment to enjoy the look on Wil's face because he knows he just ruined a stoner's munchies. There's a small level of satisfaction to it after all the trouble he's gone through because of him. Except that that meant he was not paying attention as he turns to head back and stumbles, some of the various desserts fall from the plate but he's quick to pick them back up. They're still alright. Jeremiah returns back to the room, a plate of desserts ready for the Eldritch Gentleman. "Dessert is served," he says, offering the plate with a bow.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || everything hurts It could be worse, Alois reminded himself as he hobbled away. At least this Eldritch abomination and I see eye-to-eye on food tasting better when stolen. Still, this ‚work off your debt‘ bullshit is getting stale.
The targets were numerous, and the foyer packed with some of those who fled from the ivory halls. Some took their plates, greedily enough, and filed down into the space to enjoy the wine and song without threat of death. For once, he half-wished Melany trapped them inside and fried them for all their greedy little hearts could take. He wondered what became of the scuffle, but given that the guests returned to their normal behaviors, he guessed that the commotion dissolved with no real injury.
How despicable, he thought. It takes getting my damned hand busted to spur them into action, and they give up the fight at the first signs of retaliation? Perhaps Ashdown isn’t worth returning to. Well, since they’re so goddamned cowardly when it comes to confrontation, I doubt they’ll say a word if I borrow a morsel from their plates. He set into motion, weaving as best he could around those who mingled and danced and spoke in whispers for gossip. He cared little for words; the room swam with revelry’s cacophony. He did, however, spot a perfect plate of peaches and kiwi for the Eldritch Gentleman’s pleasure. It sat upon the edge of the fountain, no less, and no one stood about it in attendance. An excellent opportunity -
Except he was soon elbowed in the side, and he froze in that instant for fear that someone had happened upon his thoughts telepathically. Then, in looking about himself, he realized a swath of guests started into a dance number, and he was marooned in the center of it. Fidgeting around the guests demanded more grace than he could muster, and many a complaint was uttered as Alois stepped on feet or stepped behind guests that backslid into him. He didn’t enjoy it, and neither did they.
Ultimately, the dance number proved too much to escape from, and Alois hated the thought of sticking around to perform the electric slide just so he wuoldn’t get elbowed. The only person between him and escape back to the Eldritch Gentleman was a girl in an elaborate bird-themed dress, with a hat styled as a cornucopia and a live pair of budgies lighted on the rim. In the dance, the two birds constantly flapped wings to stay atop the cornucopia, and Alois took his opportunity to snatch one off her head. She didn’t notice.
Afterward he hobbled back to the Eldritch man in one piece, and held out his trapped find. „I was going to get you some fruit, but zere were complications. Will zis do?“silverah working off the debt from mouthing off to melany too

An otherbeing who is convinced they went to high school with you Do you successfully get the item? No, but I got something else that I think the Eldritch Gentleman will like. "Clentworth? Clentworth McFuggerNuggin-Jenkins?" The name didn't ring a bell. Al wouldn't have even known it was meant to be directed towards him if it weren't for the tentacle that landed heavily on his shoulder just as he'd moved to pick up a bit of food from one of the numerous unconscious visitors by a door leading to a spiral staircase. When he turned, Al realized he had absolutely no feckin' clue what sort of being this guy was. All he could see was a plethora of tentacles rising from a single, squishy mass in the middle of them all. He assumed that said mass had some sort of mouth seeing as it was talking to him in a voice that seemed comically light despite the fact that it was coming from such a monstrosity. Several of the tentacles were curled around thin flutes of champagne and it would occasionally dump the contents on top of its squishy center. The skin there seemed to be absorbing it rather than swallowing, and Al fought the urge to back away. He had absolutely no idea how to react. The food dropped from his hand and his eyes, usually small and squinty, had widened into the size of pennies. A second fat tentacle dropped onto his other shoulder, and when it moved to nibble at his ear and speak Al realized each of the tentacles had mouths on the end. This tentacle had a deeper voice than its brother. "Yaaaasss, Clllleeeenty, it's been aaaaages since we've sssseen youu. Not ssssince graduation, rrrrright?" Al shuddered. "I think ya've got the wrong g-" A third tentacle squealed its delight and quickly wrapped around Alister's head in what he assumed was some sort of hug. It wiggled grotesquely and had obviously caught the majority of the alcohol... somehow. "CLENTWORTH!!! WE MISSED YOU EVER SO- HIC- MUCH!" "No." He said firmly, unwrapping the somewhat moist tendril from around his crown red-haired. "I'm Alister. Alister Gladstone. I don't know who the feck Clentworth is." The tentacles all spoke in unison this time, and it sounded akin to an entire crowd shouting at him. " ALISTER?" The being said. "NO, NO, NO- WE'RE QUITE SURE YOU'RE OUR CLENTY." Al frowned. "Well, I'm quite sure I'm not- so, if you'd excuse me..." A tentacle wrapped around one of his ankles and tripped him up before he could make his getaway. He caught himself before his face smacked into the floor beneath him, but now he was on his knees and it was a slight that made the proud man grimace. He tugged his foot from the otherbeing's grip and stood up angrily. "Ya know what, why don't ya come with me... I got someone who'd like to meet ya..." He hoped the Eldritch Gentleman liked calamari, because if he did- Al would be supplying him with quite the feast.

Just doing it.The Eldritch Gentleman accepted the bird, holding it tightly in his hand - then, with a flick of the wrist, he broke its neck and slipped the entire thing beneath his mask. A moment later, he daintily picked a wing feather from between his teeth and handed it back to Alois. "D̢i͏d́ ̕you͟ ͝k̢now," he said, "That͝ ҉the word͜ bu͞d̢gęrigąr ̸cómes̀ fr͢om҉ ̴an ̡Áu̢stra̶l̴i҉an w͜o͠rd me̕an͠i̶ng͜ ̛ goo͘d f͢o͝o̶d? Q̨uit̨e th̕e ḑeli̡c͡a͠cy." He casts a glance across the room, indicating the girl with the bird's nest in her hair. Though she was masked, he seemed gravely concerned. "No ͞h҉ąr͡m ҉m̷u̡s͜t ̧c҉o̵me t͠o m̢y̷ d҉a̷ug̸h́ter̀," he said.
