Vanu shook his head in a mocking disappointment. He knew what response this man was looking for after years of having to spend time on a ship with him he had developed more than a clue. If he was so keen on making fun of things like that he was blessed with the knowledge of what to do. He approached him haughtily. Putting an arm around Orynoko's shoulders perhaps almost tenderly, and brought his mouth close to his ear and dropped his voice, "There are worse things I could do, than beat you up. Especially, when you go throwing out interest in sharing my bed. If I knew you so eager for my touch..." He drew back with a dark laugh and cut his eyes at him. "You should head back to the ship, or I might have to add more to my report to the Captain at this rate." Vanu offered a smile. "By the way," he reached in his pocket and took out the pendant with its broken chain, tossed it back at him, "I don't accept bribes and like I said before, I didn't do what I did for you." His eyes narrowed.

All color drained from Orynoko's face as his poor tiri shuddered for him on his behalf and looked like it was about to jump into action until Caelum froze in horror for the poor human. Such a closely bonded astral really served as an outlet for all the emotions the human wasn't able to show. All Vanu would be able to see was the color drain from his face, Orynoko's entire form halt from movement and just a flicker of fear in those green eyes. Those green eyes wavered into anger but his entire face dripped into an emotionless slate as a skilled hand caught the trinket tossed his way. Ideas flashed through his mind of his next move and as his gaze locked onto Vanu he made his decision.That thought was the last straw. "ORYNOKO!" The Tiri could not let him go through with his ideas at all! This would not end well if the man kept letting his emotions and stupid tongue lead him down such a dangerous path. He ran between the men and glared at his human. "DO. NOT. DO. THAT! You don't know how that will end and for all you know you will regret it!" It was clear this was not going to end well. Twirling around, Caelum glared at Vanu. "Please, just say you'll accept the stupid little pendant and we'll go on the ship, no more trouble." It was clear from the desperation that the idea the boy had come up with was an extreme route and one the astral desperately watned to avoid.WC: 264

"That shut you up didn't it." Vanu nodded in approval of his own tactics.There was slip hope that this was the end of this. But,in the back of his mind, he had a feeling that Orynoko wouldn't let this go, and it would end up escalating...but this was the nature of their entire relationship. The least they could do is wait until they are on the ship so others can put bets on what will happen. At least a little bit of coin would flow on the ship. Besides into this brat's pocket from the people of the market. He noticed the astral's reactions too. If that was any sign on how much he rattled Orynoko then he was even prouder of his accomplishment.
"Lets go already." Vanu encouraged him to move towards the ship.

Despite Vanu's gloating there was almost a dangerous look in Orynoko's empty eyes as he stared at the man. That silence that held his tongue seemed even worse than any word he could use. He did not budge an inch and the little pendant remained loosely between his fingers.Caelum looked between to the two with a frantic notion and groaned. "Oh for the love of.." These two were insane! This is why they were not usually left to their own devices. He rolled his eyes, "Honestly, the stakes are too high for this from BOTH of you!" He walked over to Orynoko's hand and pulled free the trinket in his mouth and walked it over to Vanu. "TAKE IT ALREADY AND KEEP IT." he snapped at the First Mate through his teeth that clenched around the pendant with great care. "Once you take it he'll go to the ship." A nasty glare was shot at Orynoko as if chiding him to not dare argue with this decision.WC: 168

"You want me to take this back?" Vanu questioned, cautiously eyeing the astral. He had been able to roughly get what it was trying to tell him. Besides the nostril flare that it was bothered. It had taken the trinket and brought it back to him, looked at Orynoko and then the looked the direction of the boat. So, Vanu figured, if he took it Orynoko would go back to the boat.
"Alright, I'll take it." He held out his hand for the astral to drop it into. "For now at least,if it means he is gonna go to the ship. Like I keep saying I did this because the crew had too much faith he would come back on his own anyway." He shrugged.

The tiri dropped the pendant and gave a bow of his head to Vanu. "Thank you for not being a stubborn pirate. I didn't want this to get any worse." Such a weary look over Caelum's face showed the trouble Ory put the poor being through with this whole thing. He turned back and nudged his hand. "Let's go. He's going to keep it."Not for one moment did that dangerous void leave Orynoko's eyes as he watched Vanu with Caelum. Had his First Mate tried harming his astral, all games and bets were off. However, when Vanu did as Caelum wanted did he ease just slightly enough to not be ready to jump to action. He remained standing there for a moment until his tiri nudged him. This had been the longest stretch of silence between the two men and Orynoko was not about to break it now. He turned and walked to the ship as Caelum directed with the bag of loot over his shoulder. Slowly he came more to his usual self minus the use of his voice and 'charm'. He really didn't want to go face this but it's what he knew would come one day. A look was shot over to Vanu as if to say, 'Do I have to?' when they stood before the plank to get on the ship.WC: 226

Vanu admitted internally that dealing with Orynoko's astral was preferable than actually speaking to him directly. If they did everything through him maybe they wouldn't be at each others throats ever over minute. Once again Vanu was content to stay behind the two. He caught the look Orynoko threw over his shoulder. What was that some sort of gentle plea.
"If I was in charge, by this point, I would have told you to shove off. But since that is not the case since the Captain is in charge I recommend getting up there sooner than later. Might save a few tail feathers." Vanu encouraged.

The kindness Vanu showed Orynoko in his last sentence failed to spark any sound from the navigator. His voice remained unheard by the First Mate as he looked down at Caelum.A gentle consoling smile was given by the astral. He even nuzzled his hand a bit. Caelum understood Orynoko better than even he did of himself. Gently a shove with his head pushed his companion up the plank and he looked back at Vanu with a curious stare before chasing after Orynoko.Only once they were on the ship and he was punched several times by each crewmate did Orynoko speak again, sounding like his old self. "Now now there's plenty of booty fer everybody!" However his meeting with the Captain was first up. Nobody might have noticed but the human pirate seemed like he was purposely avoiding Vanu. Not one word was wasted on the Nivasi Halfbreed.WC: 140

Vanu was just pleased to be back on the ship and relaxing in his hammock, he had done his productive task of the day. He laid there rocking gently, he was glad to not have a single thing said to him. Besides a very hurried congratulations on getting Orynoko back. He would talk to the Captain later after Orynoko got chewed out. Then he turn in that goddamn pendant. He really did want nothing to do with it. Felt like a bribe or worse like he was being paid off to not report all that happened. He was First Mate for a reason, and it was because even with how self important he felt he was. He was loyal to the Captain. If that brat wanted to walk to him, he could if wanted to. Not like his room was hard to find on the ship.

Of course he was summoned into the Captain's quarters and explain what the hell had happened to him for the week that passed. Only after several hours did he come out from the room looking no worse than he had entered. He walked with his tiri at his side to Vanu's hammock and slammed his fist against one post then pointed to the First Mate then to the Captain's Quarters. Not one word was spoken as he walked off expecting Vanu to just get what he meant by that gesture.WC: 90

Vanu braced himself in his hammock as it suddenly left its pattern of swaying accompanied with a thunk on one of the posts is was attached to it was Orynoko. He was clearly still in a foul mood after everything that happened. Guess it was time for couple counselling with the Captain. Vanu pushed himself up off his hammock and made his way to the quarters. He knocked on the cabin door.
"Its First Mate Vanu. I am entering." He made sure to make it clear, as he made his way inside.

Usually Orynoko would nag after Vanu like a child 'Ooo whatcha do?' or 'Someone's in trouble...!' or the ever so popular, 'Guess its time you find out I'm First Mate now, Old Man!' But no such prattling paraded after him this time. Vanu walked through that doorway alone and unaccompanied. The Papin Halfbreed was at his round table with all the treasures Orynoko had swiped throughout the week. "Ah, there's my best mate!" A harty bellowing laugh echoed from the man as he rose. "Thanks fer bringin' him back. I knew no one else could pull it off like you." If Vanu looked closely, he would spot one of the beautiful scarves that were at the stall tied around Capt Kidev's belt. "Hope the lad wasn't too much trouble for ya. So please," He pulled up a chair and sat on it haphazardly, "I want yer report. Orynoko had some.. interestin' commentary... and I wanna see what you have to say."WC: 161

Vanu took a seat, he didn't bother to question the Captain . But it would change nothing first thing he did was place the pendant on the table. Other than that didn't acknowledge it. "I can only imagine what he said. Basics of it was, he had set up a shop in the market and I wasn't sure when or not he was going to be coming back to the ship. So I forced the issue. All the while he was putting on quite a show for the people in the market, I did what I had to do to make the situation end. After that, it was a matter of him dragging his feet on wanting to come back on the ship. But as you can see there he is. Arm might be a little bruised, and not sure about his cheek but I slapped him. Maybe added another mental scar. Overall I would say that is pretty could considering how we usually get going." He didn't sugar coat it.
"Anything contradict?"

"You had more ta say than the boy did." A smirk cracked on his face after seeing the pendant on the table. "So the lad did give it to ye. I'm surprised you kept it, Vanu. Ain't gettin' soft on me now are ya?" It seemed Orynoko explained more about the small trinket and what it meant to Kidev than he ever would to Vanu. "So what did you do to him this time?" His arms crossed over his chest with a grin. He seemed far more amused than he was annoyed. The curiosity was brimming. "He talks the same, and acts the same.. but that look in his eye. Only you can do somethin' that good. What did you do?" WC: 121

"I didn't want to. Still don't that is why I fully intend to leave it on the table once I leave this cabin. Felt like a bribe, so I rather just add it to the community wealth of the ship." Vanu informed him with a shrug. " Actually, I gave it back the first time he tried to give it to me, he got all sorts of bent out of shape about it...at least from what I could tell and then his astral gave it to me the second time, in the promise that Orynoko would get his rear on the ship. Other than that, he kept trying to get under my skin, I outplayed him and threatened to sleep with him essentially." There was no use hiding anything that went on, and nothing actually happened. "I will always have more to say about outings that I get dragged into with that guy. Why do we keep him anyway?"
