The girl kept running through the forest, chased by Syth, not exactly fast enough to outrun her for long, but luckily she wasn't far off from her destination.

Up ahead was two children. One was a boy with short wavy blonde hair and the other a girl with long black hair pulled into low pigtails. They both wore faceless masks and seemed to be wearing very similar clothes to each other as they slowly drug the body of an unconscious young woman across the dirt ground toward a large hole at the base of a huge tree in the middle of the forest.

"Do you think she's really dead this time?" the girl asked curiously.

"Doubt it. But she'll still want her body either way." the boy answered.

"Oooooohhhh okay.." the girl responded.

The pale woman they drug was wearing a tattered blue dress like she had been in a fight recently and lost. Long wavy black hair and a donned a faceless mask. Both children grabbing her by the legs as they pulled her to the hole.

The girl with pink hair bounded to them. "We have to go!! We have to go right now!!"

"We aren't finished. She's gonna be pissed if we don't bring her back!" the boy hissed.

"No time! Get in!" the pink hair girl exclaimed, practically shoving the two children into the hole with her and disappeared, leaving the unconscious black haired woman laying there at the entrance of the hole.

Syth couldn't help but crack an amused smile as she continued to race forth and catch up. The 'maiden' didn't bite on to her threat much to her disappointment but she still pursued.

At least until she reached a dead end. Well, not entire dead as there was a hole that didn't seem all too comfortable to squeeze oneself into. Not to mention there was a dead body on the ground.

Eugh, grave diggers? Why in the world would they have dug up this body. And what was with the mask? Wait it was similar to the maiden's. Curiosity struck her as the mask was lifted away. Just a peek to find out what she might've been dealing with since she seemed to be a part of that group. Yet what she would find would make her stop.

"W-" She couldn't believe her eyes. It... it was her. Dead, of course this wasn't a shocking revelation after all, but her body was here. With a mask put on by them and the fact that she had been dragged along.

There had to be a simple, rational, and somehow magical explanation for all of this that would make complete and total sense!

But since they decided to be dicks and withhold information about her long deceased and usually missing wife they got to deal with more anger. They brought this on themselves.

"I'm even more pissed you're running away!" Her psychic voice would erupt. Her hair standing on edge as she reached into the hole with her telepathy. Planning on grabbing the first person or group of people she could reach and dragging them back up. She wanted answers now. Also her necklace back.

While Syth was busy reaching into the hole for the first person she could grab, a quiet figure appeared from what seemed like nowhere. Long white hair and clear opal feathers laced through it as he wore a mask, the only difference as there was an unusually wide smile painted across the mask and nothing else. He picked up Alice's mask and stared at it tilting his head. "Mrr?" Looking up at the purple haired Meta, he moved closer without a noise and pushed her into the hole as she seemed to fall in easily, the hole falling into what was a large endless pit of darkness.

The man looked to Alice and picked her up and one could have sworn his smile grew. "They aren't running from you... They are running back to the queen." he muttered quietly to himself.

Alice began to stir, opening her eyes weakly before a look of surprise and fear hit her face. "D-dont!!" she yelled before he tossed her into the hole as well.

"Sorry, Alice... I'm afraid you can't escape wonderland." he cooed before his body faded from existence leaving behind his mask floating in the air then it faded away as well.

What seemed like minutes passed as faint colors and images flashed by, a journey to practically the center of the earth or maybe another dimension as Syth's decent was slowed then dropped her on the ground in the middle of tall grass. Very tall. And large. Like she had been shrunk down to the size of a hamster. It wasn't long before Alice finally hit the floor, a groan as she lay there.

While things seemed weird and out of place, Syth was fine. Maybe a little pain from falling but nothing that wouldn't fade in a few minutes. The only problem would be any muster of power would turn up fruitless. Syth's abilities would not work in this place.

And while busy in her rage, she found herself getting shoved from behind. A gasp escaping her as she fell down, quickly finding that she couldn't very well stop herself from falling. Colors and images fading by quickly she was met with a slow descent into the grass.

At least she didn't hit it after several minutes of free falling. Things were at least going well in that manner.

But not for anything else. It doesn't take very long to figure out that the grass was almost as tall as you were. And that you were perhaps a few inches tall, though that might be a little generous. Oh, and she couldn't fly.

Joyous.

But there was one surprise in all of this. She wasn't alone, a groan alerting her to the presence of someone else. Alice! She raced by her side, giving her a tight hug as she pressed Alice's face up against her body. She might've been too happy.

But she was silent otherwise. And Syth didn't realize that Alice couldn't hear her thoughts.

Alice sat up, placing a hand on her head as she tried to just orient herself. Although, the sudden weight of a person tackling her back to the ground hugging her. She looked alarmed as she moved to push her away but paused. The firm hug of someone who had strong feelings of longing. Alice sighed and tried to look up at her. "...are you lost too?..." she asked with a disheartened expression. Her somber tone broke as she realized she wasn't wearing the mask anymore, a frantic gasp as she searched for the mask. "My mask... where... where is it?!" She then growled. "That damn cat... of course..." Alice let out a frustrated noise before looking to Syth again. "Sorry you got dragged into all of this..." she spoke sympathetically.

There was no immediate feedback from the hug. A look into Alice's expression would reveal that she honestly has no clue what was going on. To be fair she didn't either but at least she knew who the other people was.

She stared back at Alice with an unamused expression. Still trying to communicate telepathically but either she was ignoring her or something else was wrong.

Though she was missing her mask. Sure it was a silly thing to miss but she could just make another one with a thought.

... no mask.

She could just make another one. ...

She. Could. Just. Make. A. Mask.

... Her powers were disabled. Great she was a mute and helpless. Not to mention with someone who resembled or was get dead wife with no memories. Hahaha.

She held up a finger to her throat, before attempting to speak, and finally shaking her head rapidly. Trying to communicate she couldn't speak.

Alice tried to sit up again and frowned. Why wasn't this girl talking. Was there something wr-..... Ohhh. She saw her motion to her throat and nodded. "I see..." She smiled sympathetically and moved to removed one of the red earrings from her ear and held it out to Syth. "Here. This will help." she offered before looking around.

The area was surrounded by giant tall grass and a few flowers here and there. Alice frowned, as she smelled the air. "...hmm..." The scent in the air was odd but fragrant, although it seemed to be some distance from them. "Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"

She took the earring, confused of course as to why she'd be given it but she wore it without hesitation. Looking around for a course of action to take. No hints no nothing. She was with Alice but sheer had no memories so just living here wasn't her plan.

'No' She thought to herself out of habit, shaking her head in an exaggerated motion to convey that simple word. What to do what to do...

Alice watched her put on the earring and gave a faint relieved smile. "There you are." she spoke quietly. "I can hear you when you wear that, so keep it safe, okay?" she instructed. Looking off into the distance, she seemed to be formulating some kind of plan. "Did anyone see you come down he-..." she paused, her eyes widening as she focused on the sky, a huge dark raven circling in the sky as if it were looking for something.

Alice quickly moved closer to Syth, pushing her back toward the shade of some grass blades and out of view. Trying to stay close and obscure being able to see her, just in case as she watched the raven fly off and continue searching elsewhere. A huge sigh of relief once it looked like they were safe. Moving back, to put a little more comfortable distance between them, she looked to Syth. "If you help me get my mask back from the cat, I can help you get out." she offered seriously.

"Oh? That's nice, but doesn't that mean you'll hear all my thoughts?" She responded to her own wife. "And no one saw me come doooo" Her mind trailed off as Alice got up close. Her hands wrapping around her body. Her heart was racing, feeling her presence. This was nice.

"W-why do you want your mask back? And weren't you seriously hurt a bit ago"

"Not really, only the thoughts you direct at me. Just like you can't read my thoughts right now, I can't read yours unless you want me to." she straightened her dress and looked to the distance, starting to walk off before pausing and blinking for a moment. "Because the cat took it... and it's the only way to get out." Alice looked down at herself and frowned, still pretty beaten up from before. "Well, yes, but if I just sit around the queen and her lackeys will kill me...." she stated matter-of-factly, as if this were simply the way things were.

"Come on, by the smell of it, the caterpillar is up ahead... I'm sure he's seen that damn cat.... He'll be lucky if I don't skin him for taking my things again and throwing me..." she growled, beginning to walk toward the odd fragrance wafting in the distance.

She felt relieved by the fact that she could be understood. Well, perhaps relieved wasn't the right word but not having to deal with the anxiety of not being able to communicate for the first time in oh say ten years was kind of a big deal to her. No powers, no weapons, and no way to defend herself. But now we could at least talk to Alice. Or the doppleganger that resembled Alice.

In all honestly she shouldn't be so trusting but alas love makes you do dumb things.

Yet in all her thinking she didn't notice the large bird above her. Getting pushed off towards the shade, her mind reflexing to try to create a mental barrier to no avail. Instead she watched silently as it flew away. She couldn't judge its size, but the sound it made was pretty menacing.

'Why do you need a mask?' She simply thought. It was weird that she was simply allowing her mind to be read, rather than reaching out with her thoughts. Aaaaaaaa damn this place seven ways to hell. If only she could just grab Alice and teleport away then everything would be fine and she could dig into Alice's mind and figure out exactly if this woman was the real deal or some fraud.

Alice paused and tilted her head slightly. "Because the masks are able to get us past the barrier that keeps us here..." she explained. "....you don't kn-......of course you don't... you're from,.. the other place." she sighed. Well, that was interesting, this girl wasn't from Wonderland at all. She was from the other place, the place that she was desperately trying to get to to no avail because of the Red Queen.

Alice took a breath and smiled, offering a hand to Syth. "Come on. The caterpillar will know where the cat is... I'm certain of it." she spoke with a slight determination, waiting to guide her toward the odd fragrance not too far from them.

Oh so there was more than one mask. Well either that or she was only getting a one way ride by herself and honest god if this was Alice she wouldn't leave her here by herself. Of course that was assuming this wasn't just some dream she was having. 'No dream has ever felt this real though' she thought to herself.

And yes of course she didn't know. This place was new to her! 'Well hopefully I can be acquainted enough to be useful' She responded back as she took the hand of the dopple-Alice. Trusting in the fact that she wouldn't find herself in the maws of a mimic. Maybe she was getting ahead of herself though. Surely this wasn't some elaborate trap to have her fed to some... mythical demonic being.

Then again she was supposedly angelic..

'Then lets go' She simply responded as they headed off towards what she would assume to be a large caterpillar. A queer smell entering her nostrils as they ventured closer and closer. Was this smoke? Her nose was already scrunching at they ventured closer. Her only free hand moving to cover up her face as she took in quiet breaths.

Thankfully she was mute. She wouldn't have to waste breath on the conversation.
