She was going back to her mother then because the missing sibling wasn't around here, huh? He thought about that for a moment, "It seems like it might be your best option if you think that she is the better tracker." If she were old enough to have a child this age then it made sense that the woman had to be a better tracker then the girl of possible prentice age that stood before him. Her going for her mother was likely the best idea if she really wanted to find her missing sibling.

If she was going to get her mother it meant that Saraf was pretty much off the hook for all of this as well, which was a bonus in his mind, "Alright, I will accompany part of the way, just until we get back to the path I was taking." Once he made it there then he could wash his hands of the strange situation without worry because the girl would be back with her mother, a mother he would assume would find the other one.

She frowned. Masika had been given responsibility and she'd blown it! Going back to tell her mother would be hard but if she wanted to make sure her sister was alright then she needed to do it. That also meant she wouldn't be allowed to do grown up things again. At least not without supervision. Most likely her mother would send her brother with her.

As the Oban said he would walk with her, or at least back to the path he had been about to take, she nodded her head. "Thank you, Sir." Without thinking about it Masika slipped her hand into his and sighed. "Guess I'm not very responsible."

Saraf gave a noncommittal sound as she thanked him, withdrawing his hand from hers and used it to nudge her forward toward where they were supposed to be going. Once that was done and he wasn't holding hands with a child he said, "It's the fault of growing up in a peaceful world. It stifles the need to get strong to defend yourself against what it out there. At the same time I suppose you should enjoy the luxury, at your age I was already a part of the Oban army fighting in a war." Not that he minded at the time or even now, that was just what it was to be Oban.

It made him wonder what he might do if he ever ended up with children. Would he want them to grow up like this more naive girl or grow up as he did? It made him want to ask Nuri how he was planning to raise his own brood. Nuri was the same as he was, a part of the Oban army, but he wasn't sure if Nuri had been in a real battle as young as Saraf had. He'd have to ask that as well.

"How far is she? Your mother I mean." Best to know how far off the woman was, no really wanting to get drawn into family drama that wasn't his own.

It hurt her feelings when he pulled his hand from hers. Masika curled her fingers and pulled her hand toward her to protect it, though she wasn't sure what from. Though his admission of being in the Oban army at her age had her looking up at him. "You had to fight?" Her expression turned to one of worry as she found herself wondering if he fought for Oba or if he really believed everyone else was bad. "So.. you fought to stop people like me from being possible?" He'd already shown her that hybrids weren't something that he'd really approved of.

Her hand moved to point toward a weapon shop down another path. It was a bit ways away but visible through the crowd. "She's in there with my aunt."

"I didn't have to fight, I chose to fight." He said, not wanting her to think that he was forced to do anything when it came to his army career. Sure, there felt at times as though there were less reasons to be in the army when things were so annoyingly peaceful but that was just how it was. Glancing over at her gave her a once over, then shrugged, "Not really, I fought... well, fight, for Oba, for my people and my country, doing whatever is needed to make sure that Oba is strong."

One hybrid girl like this one wasn't really all that much of a threat to his people so he couldn't really say he was worried about her birth. Why should he care when she wasn't even the sort of mix that would have been an insult to Oba back in the day? Her missing sibling was more of the sort that would have been looked upon poorly but these days it seemed more... common place. To the point even that Saraf's best friend had married a foreign woman and had children with her.

Glancing toward where she said her mother was located he nodded his head, "Go ahead then. I will continue on my way, some members of my unit are waiting for me." He was doing more exercises today to help him be more prepared to fight magic wielding types and he didn't want to be late.

His reasoning made a little more sense than her fear so she nodded at him again. Masika had a bit more understanding of it now. Her mother fought for Aisha and Chibale whenever it was needed but she didn't hate anyone.

"Goodbye Sir." Masika gave him a shy wave then turned so that she could walk away. She reached into her pocket and took out her runes, running her fingers over their scarred surface as she thought of what to tell her mother.

With a way of his hand Saraf was on his way toward where he was supposed to be meeting with the members of his unti. That had been a strange distraction but at least one of the girls had made it back to where her mother was located? The older woman was sure to be able to find the younger one, right? He hope that was the case as he didn't want to hear later that they had, as a group, failed to find the little girl. He wasn't really up to looking for the missing one again, he'd spent enough of his time when he was younger searching for a missing youngling without any luck. It was something that he could or would do again.

Shaking off that particular thought he sped up, wanting to make up for time and get to where the others were sooner then later. It was imperative that he got there fast, so that he could get back to training. One didn't gain rank without putting in a lot of work after all.
