Song ~ Hate Me

User ImageHe says save me, save me
She says maybe, maybe…

She starts to turn away when he says…

Hate me
Break me
Let me feel as hurt as you
Push me
Crush me
But promise me you’ll never let us go

Hate me
Break me
Then save me, save me
Push me
Crush me
Then save me, save me

She stops walking, walking
He stops falling, falling

He looks her in the eyes and he says…

Hate me
Break me
Let me feel as hurt as you
Push me
Crush me
But promise me you’ll never let us go

Hate me
Break me
Then save me, save me
Push me
Crush me
Then save me, save...

Hate me
Break me
Then save me, save me
Push me
Crush me
Then save me, save me

He says save me, save me
She says maybe, maybe…

He says...

Hate me
Break me
Let me feel as hurt as you
Push me
Crush me
But promise me you’ll never let us go

Promise me ~ Class Quest

Tilawen leaves her companion Bharaxx and follows an old woman into the woods. Wanting to get stronger so that she may be able to face Bharaxx in the future. Although she isn't ready she is forced by the old shamanic woman Aagtha to leave when there is no more to be learned. She learns to summon fire, lightning, wind, earth and ice but has poor control over water.

The young woman had a hard time falling to sleep, worried that Bharaxx would return and demand more things from her. She lay awake for many hours until finally she was unable to keep her eyes open any longer. A dreamless sleep, resltess she awoke with a start as the sun's dappling light filtered through the open window. She had never bothered to change out of her clothes and her dress was rumpled from her sleep. A hand came to her hair and she knew it was a mess, but her gaze moved to her companions bed to find that...it had been slept in..but Bharaxx was no where to be seen.

Relief flooded her, though she knew she shouldn't feel that way. Could she keep avoiding him like this? Slipping off the bed she washed her face at the basin and ran her fingers through the tangle which was her hair. Tilawen's attempts at smoothing out the wrinkles and folds in her dress was laughable but she didn't wish to linger and went to retrieve her money pouch before she quietly slipped out of the room. The door closed behind her with a click and she leaned against the door a slight moment before she jumped hearing foot steps approach her.

Glancing over, she wasn't who it was that was approaching but she quickly moved out of the area without saying a word. Without waiting to see who it was, better she not know she figured as she vanished down the hallway and down the stairs leading to the outside of the inn. She had to hurry else she would miss the crone, if she was really waiting for her.

Disheveled she drew a lot of strange looks, she had to stop and fix one of her shoes as it was pinching her heel but rather than ...stop she hopped on one foot trying to fix it. A comical sight, perhaps it was her desperation to reach her destination that had her in such a state of panic. Upon reaching her the appointed spot she realized in the daylight that she literally had been on the edge of the town. The jungle before her stretched into darkness, she knew that it wasn't really dark but...fidgeting she stood waiting. Perhaps the crone had been teasing her, or..perhaps she had taken too long to get here. Either way Tilawen felt crushed as she went to sit down on a nearby log.

"Oh...so you decided to come." The old woman spoke as she emerged from the forest, today however she had a water elemental with her. "So you wish to learn from old Aagath? Come on girl...I don't have much time left." The woman who had finally announced herself gestured for Tilawen to come with her. They were heading into the forest and as Tilawen stood she found herself hesitating again. Looking over her shoulder a moment as if expecting Bharaxx to be standing there preventing her from leaving.

Do you hate me? His words echoed in her mind, glancing to the ground she chewed on her lower lip before she found herself taking a step away from the village. It was time to go...she would probably be back and she would face him when she returned.

***

Aagath was true to her world, there was so much to be taught and her health was failing. Yet despite knowing that death was going to be approaching her the shifter woman didn't seem that bothered by it.

"Again...girl do it again." She spoke as she went to smoke from a pipe, the smell of the burning stuff made Tilawen's stomach turn but Aagath had pointed out that it was the contents of this pipe that kept her from experiencing a lot of pain. Tilawen was trying to summon water for the fourth time in a very short period of time. Fire. The irony that it would be fire she was most attuned to, and though Aagath scolded her many times, she never asked her about her life, her past or where her personal scars came from. She stated that the past was the past...there was no sense in dwelling on it for one could not change it.

Sweating Tilawen managed to summon a small quivering orb of water which quickly splattered as soon as her concentration wavered for an instant. Sighing as her hands got wet once again she wiped them dry on the hem of her dress. She had been in the forest for several days now, trying to avoid thinking of Bharaxx and just focus on her studies.

"Girl...I am going to die before you master water." The crone moaned as she pushed herself up off her chair and hobbled her way towards her. Using her staff to then force Tilawen to straighten her back as it came up behind her, then using the end to lift her chin so her gaze was level with hers. The crone looked at her in a studious manner Tilawen had seen her do before.

"Tell my fortune girl, I know you can I saw you doing it in the village."

Tilawen was used to the fact Aagath refused to call her by name, in fact...Aagath had never asked for it in the first place and Tilawen felt..content in the fact that this meant they couldn't get attached to each other. Surprised that the crone had seen her doing the fortunes she nodded her heard slightly before turning to the few belongings she had brought with her.

Pulling out the deck, she stared at the cards a moment lingering on them as she realized that this had been a gift from Bharaxx. Swallowing she tried to put those confused feelings aside before she walked towards the crones chair which she had returned to, the pipe returned to her lips.

Kneeling she offered the crone to pick her six cards, her gnarled fingers grasping at them in a careless manner as if she wasn't really eager to hear her fortune. Taking the cards Tilawen began to read her fortune.

"...The temperance card...you are looking for a balance or harmony in your life seeking it out as you have had rough times in your life..."

The first card was laid on the ground before the second one was then drawn,

"The tower...you are looking for an easy answer to a difficult problem, but ..things are not going your way..the answer you are looking for will come unexpectedly...and perhaps not what you were hoping for.."

The hanged man became the third turned up card,

"You...are afraid of letting go...perhaps someone is holding you back...or something.."

The fourth card was a steed drawn chariot,

"Do not quit, if you continue down this path you will eventually succeed,"

About to turn the fifth card Aagath broke into a fit of coughing startling Tilawen and she almost dropped the remaining cards. The crone held a hand out as if requesting no aid from Tilawen ..not that she would be able to help much. Waiting Tilawen thumbed the card in her hand until the coughing subsided,

"The hermit...cautions against being too rash and to not make quick decisions and to let rage and contempt go..."

The last card...Tilawen was almost expecting it to be the death card she was surprised to find the emperor instead,

"Ultimately...you will succeed in the end...a life long goal will be accomplished." Tilawen finished as she placed the last card to join the rest, Aagath made a sound in her throat like she wasn't impressed by what she was told.

"Well girl...you only confirmed what I already knew..." She wheezed as she straightened up in her chair and after an awkward moment of silence she looked back to Tilawen.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Try that spell again useless girl."

***

The days stretched into two weeks...not once had Tilawen returned to the village. She hadn't seen Bharaxxx and she wasn't sure if she was relived or...disappointed that he hadn't come looking for her. Although she had been kept very busy, she was now able to summon, earth..fire...wind, lightning, and the closest she had managed when it came to water...was ice. Water still evaded her, it wasn't impossible but it took a lot of her mental effort to maintain even a simple globe of water.

The crone never spoke kind words to her, never asked for another fortune reading and only criticized her every task. Tilawen didn't mind, she didn't have to like the woman to learn from her, and she wasn't so stupid to not recognize that she had a life time of experience and skill behind that frowning, wrinkled face.

"There is no more I can teach you, it is time you leave this place." Aagath spoke sharply before she burst into a round of hoarse coughing. The smoke pipe was no longer offering her any sort of relief from what ailed her and Tilawen sensed perhaps it wasn't any sort of sickness but perhaps her age that was catching up with her. To be honest she was glad that she never asked for another tarot reading fearing Death would likely be the card she turned up first.

Still only two weeks seemed...not a lot of time to learn everything that Aagath had to teach her,

"I...will gather my things." Tilawen responded softly knowing it was useless to argue against Aagath's wishes. If she claimed there was nothing left to teach...she would stick by her words and only anger could be stoked if she fought against her. Standing up she went to gather the few small items she had brought with her. It had been a different sort of refreshing living with Aagath. The cooking tricks she had picked up from traveling with the cousins had come in handy, the unwillingness to be idle kept the small home tidy.

She had felt...almost at peace here and part of her was sad to be leaving, for where would she go? Back to the village? Would Bharaxx still be there? Would he spit at her, get angry with her? Worries came back and she felt herself want to retreat into herself again.

"Girl...you carry a heaviness in your heart...it is why water will not flow through you. You have created a damn that it cannot pass...until you let go...water will never speak to you." Aagath spoke in a wheezing tone another spell of racking coughs assailing her.

Turning Tilawen watched her silently before the coughs faded she looked away. Standing she held the few items close to her before placing them in small pockets inside of her cloak.

"Girl...don't come back here. You understand? There will be nothing here if you come back." The crone spoke, and for once...there was sadness tinged in her words.

"I...won't...." Tilawen spoke although she wasn't sure if she would be able to keep away for long. There were too many fears plaguing her to feel comfortable to go back.

"Promise me girl..."

Tilawen glanced at the crone before she looked away not able to meet the woman's misty gaze. Rather than respond she gathered her cloak around her body and exited the hut. Tilawen didn't look back...not until she reached the edge of the village. The darkness of the forest around her behind her, left a stain on her heart. She was back, but what had she come back to? The village felt...threatening, full of pain...scandals and difficulty. Could she meet all of those head on?

There was only one way to find out..

Taking a step into the town, a small kid rushed past her laughing as he was being chased by perhaps its older sibling. Adults followed slowly behind watching the curious duo play.

"Is that ..smoke?" Asked the female shifter curiously looking in Tilawen's direction. Eye's widening Tilawen whirled around, there was indeed smoke coming from the direction she had come.

"...No..." A single word managed its way past her lips, she felt tears that she didn't think could be there for the woman sprang to the corners of her eyes.

"Not you too.."

Time Staying Still

"Tilawen! Come back!"

A voice had shouted at her, but she was already fleeing back in the direction she had come from. No...the fire... it couldn't of been from there. It wasn't possible, she had only just left the woman. Her feet carried her forward, tripping over roots, loose stone threatened to pitch her to the ground. As if she was trying to outrace the tears that streamed down her face, she arrived to the small cottage only to find what she had dreaded the most. The small home was ablaze, the trees in the nearby area already starting to light as the heat got more intense.

About to scrabble forward, she had to find Aagath, the woman had to b alive she felt strong arms grab her arms hauling her backwards. Screaming she tried to pull away but more hands dragged her backwards. Tilawen wasn't able to discern what was going on, she voice ...the normally quiet woman found that she was screaming her frusterations, her pain and sorrow. Although Aagath wasn't kind to her, the fire...was just too painful a memory for her to have to relive.

"Take....healers....now..." The voice was deep and commanding as she was shifted backwards and something covered her face and mouth a cloth. There was something sharp smelling and it deaden the feelings in her. Her voice grew quiet as she then was carefully led away from the fire. Other people from the village had gathered, the magic users were using their water and earth elements to douse the fire. Sitting on the ground away from the commotion she felt her body feel like lead. Staring at the flames flickering back and forth, she could of sworn she saw a figure standing in amongst the flames but her body refused to move, she could only sit there..and watch.

Bharaax was beside her a hand to her head, then her shoulder a gentle shake that became more fierce as she didn't respond. Dimly she looked up at him, his expression was hard to read. A strange mixture of confusion, anger and relief all rolled up into one.

His mouth was moving, but with all the noise...the shouts the crackling and hissing of the flames she couldn't make it out. What had he used on her? It had calmed her down significantly but she felt removed from her body, like a shell watching the world move around her.

"what..." Ah...a word she made it out, but she didn't respond as she was too confused to reply. Frustrated the man looked over his shoulder and then went grabbing her arm hauled her up and onto her feet, her immediate response was to collapse but he firmly put her back on her feet again and dragged her away from the scene.

The sounds grew distant and she felt herself regain a bit of her mind, like a fog slowly fading away she looked to Bharaax staring at him. Tilawen had been so scared to come back and face him, and yet here he was..was he the voice that had called out before?

Was he trying to stop her? But why? He didn't know about her past, her nightmares...the things that happened to her mother. Why should he try and help her?

"Where in the gods name have you been?" The demand was rightly so, she had after all vanished from the tavern without a word been away for weeks and then returned only to have a small fire erupt from where she had been. Unable to respond just yet he nearly threw her in front of him, stumbling she tripped up on her skirt and found herself landing on the dirt path. People were rushing past them, it was like time had stayed still for only the two of them whilst everyone else was rushing around trying to deal with the fire.

Dimly she became aware that her arm hurt from where he had grabbed her, surely there would be bruises forming, and having landed quite heavily on her hip there would be sores there as well.

"Answer me!" Bharaax barked causing Tilawen to flinch, as the numbing agent faded she felt her body begin to tremble. The man before her gave another frustrated sigh as he then half turned away before turning back to her. Leaning over he yanked her back up and onto her feet, but then he swept her up into his arms. Cradled against his chest, there was a faint smell ..the lingered on him. It was the same as the one that had been on the cloth that had covered her face back in the forest. He was walking, she felt each one of his steps as they registered in her body. Why couldn't she stop trembling?

Where was he taking her? The woman wasn't entirely sure, but she looked up at him a moment before she found the tears returning to her eyes. It wasn't fair. This wasn't fair. She should hate him. Though she didn't have concrete proof she knew Bharaax was a bad man, so why was he doing this? Why did he have to twist the knife in her heart more so...

Sobbing she buried her face into his chest and cried. He didn't stop or berate her but continued to walk until they reached the inn. Bringing her to their room he laid her down onto her bed. He had kept the room, her bed looked as if it hadn't been touched since she had left. But she didn't have the means to notice as she curled up into a ball continued to cry.

"I will fetch a healer...don't leave."

Bharaax could of said anything at this point...Tilawen wasn't going anywhere.

The people are talking...

"She seems to be in a state of shock...."

The voice belonged to a woman, at least TIlawen was pretty sure it was. Since Bharaax had left for a healer she had laid on the bed crying to herself. Why was she crying? She hadn't felt any real connection with the crone, in fact if she looked at things rationally there was no reason for her to be upset over the woman's death. Well assumed death. Her tears had dried up by the time he had returned and she had continued to lay on the bed her eyes open but not really seeing anything.

She dimly recalled being forced to sit up, pulled up by the arm and then propped up. The exam had been very automatic, she had responded to basic commands, open your mouth, tilt your head back, the healer had been of the leaf tribe. An older one she dimly recalled she took Bharaax aside after done the examination, recommending giving her time and then...in waved him over to talk to him alone.

Tilawen turned her head slowly to watch them exit the room, but she then went to stare at the ground. Pulling her legs up she hugged them against her chest feeling suddenly very cold. There was a soft click as the door closed, announcing the return of Bharaax. He stood there a long moment looking at the floor as if he was trying to avoid looking at her.

"She says she knows you.."

Words, confusing ones were spoken. Lifting her head she gave Bharaax a blank stare. Who? The healer? Nonsense. No one would bother to remember her let alone know her.

"Do you want to tell me what happened? People are starting to speculate.."

"About...?"

"The old woman..."

"Oh....she told me to leave..." Tilawen spoke with little energy in her voice,

"So you set her house on fire?"

Tilawen felt herself jolt, like being slapped in the face the accusation brought her out of her stupor.

"N..no! I.."

"Well that is what people are thinking you did. It seems that you knew where she lived...not many people had ever been to her place."

There was silence as she struggled to think. People thought that she had set fire to Agath's house? That was ridiculous, but what could she say to prove her innocence?

"I..I didn't..." Tilawen managed again, her body was trembling again, "I wouldn't..."

A frustrated sigh came from her companion she caught him running his hand through his beard, tugging on it as she had seen him do when he was thinking hard.

"We should leave this place...the further we get ourselves from here the better.." It didn't really sound like Bharaxx wanted to leave, in fact he sounded irritated by the mere prospect of having to go.

"...Why..I can leave...you..don't hav.."

"Don't be stupid!" He nearly shouted, at her before taking a deep breath and sighing. "You won't survive like you are now...I owe you my life Tilawen and I am a man who repays debts."

Tilawen raised her head, green eyes staring at him wondering why he would say such things. Debt? He felt indebted to her? Is that why he continued to stay with her all this time?

"...A...B..haraxx I.."

"No arguing! We will figure out what to do soo.."

A knock at the door interrupted his sentence and she found herself glancing at the door. Bharaxx was tense, she noted his clenched fist before he turned and headed for the door. Answering it he spoke in low tones before he glanced at Tilawen before excusing himself from the room.

Left alone the young woman felt very vulnerable.
