Cas' laughter matched Misha's in the edge that it carried, slight and barely noticeable. "Those don't happen all too often, sadly," he said with a half bow to acknowledge her praise. And this flock was tricky. The birds had numbers on their side, and while there were four in their group fighting, the barrage of attacks from all sides was clearly taking its toll. On his part, he swung his sword again, this time at a new opponent, and caught it near its tail. The thing shuddered on impact, but beat its wings valiantly to keep itself in the air. No luck this time Cas' HP: 40 - 5 = 35 Damage dealt: 50% x 6 = 3 Birds' HP: 62 - 3 = 59 Weapon: Sword (base 6)

"Anything that takes a feather out of these stupid birds' caps is good in my book," Misha quipped. Jokes were good; they distracted from the sheer number of birds they were facing. She had never seen so many before. It was daunting. On the other hand, there were four Chosen. Surely, they could fight back a group of dirty birds. She grinned, showing perfectly white teeth, and threw her weight into another shield drive at a low diving bird. She caught it squarely but took another deep tear to her coat. "Oh!" Misha's HP: 46 - 5 = 41 Birds' HP: 59 - 4 = 55 Misha's Weapon: Buckler (4+1)

A short bit of laughter escaped her at Mercy's expletive. "Thank you sweetheart -- and if the Gods were here to do the damning, we wouldn't need to be here, diving out of toxic excrement and getting torn up by metal feathers." Really, what was this Chosen business anyway, if not some sort of cop out? Misha and Cas' laughs were getting to her in some small way, unable to repress a smile. There they were, four people ripped from their perfectly normal lives, fighting metal birds in the Alps with archaic weaponry. A little laughter was most certainly warranted. "Careful, Misha. Show us some of that fancy footwork." She tried to offer a smile of encouragement, letting fly another arrow -- this time, it sunk squarely into the chest of one of the avians, the metal heap falling into the snow, lifeless. It was then she realized there was less of a flurry of wings around them. "We've felled half of them!" she called out, hoping to carry that momentum. "True fact!~ Maybe they're just testing us to see if we can handle things for the future?" That seemed like something a God would do in order to weed out the weak links so to speak? It sounded harsh but it is a common practice and has been since the dawn of time. Either way, the laughter that was going around made its way to her, a small chuckle removing itself from her mouth as she was swinging her hammer into a poor unsuspecting bird. "Finally!~" Status Mercy's Health: 35 - 5 = 30hp Weapon: War hammer (10 base - 1 hit) Rolled: 5 - 1 = 4 (100% dmg) [ 10 dmg total ] Opponent HP: 49 - 10 = 39

That was momentum indeed. With that sudden realization - half of the flock was down - it felt like they all fell into a rhythm. Started moving and dancing through this fight with the birds as if there was no real challenge. As if every single bird would be down soon enough. Seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel brought a second wind rushing through him. If there had been any sign of fatigue before, it was washed away by the sudden dose of adrenaline running through his entire body. And damn, did it feel good. He dove forward and drove his sword up, shearing a foot-long gash along the underside of his bird. His boots caught the snow and sent it up in a wave as he slid to the other side of the falling bird, ducking as it dropped to the ground. Cas' HP: 35 - 5 = 30 Damage dealt: 100% x 6 = 6 Birds' HP: 39 - 6 = 33 Weapon: Sword (base 6) ((jumping the gun a little here, but figured I'd get this up so you guys can go another round while I go to sleep xD))

"Footwork? Alright. How about this, Rose?" The knowledge that half their foes were down acted just as strongly on Misha as the others; the adrenaline boosted her spirits and steadied both her hand and nerve. She executed a remarkably clean spin despite the snow. Raising her buckler, she caught a bird full-on and it shrieked as metal collided with metal. Her weight behind it, the hit dropped the bird to the ground where it flapped once before going still. The contact sent a jolt through her arm but, overall, it felt good. "Just a few more to go, ladies and gentleman!" Misha's HP: 41 - 5 = 36 Birds' HP: 33 - 8 = 25 Misha's Weapon: Buckler (4+1)

Misha's display definitely garnered Rose's attention. She fired at the same time, and missed entirely -- who could blame her? The songstress laughed, in good spirits, not with the edge of hysteria the others had skirted over. "That is a fine demonstration!" she called to the dancer, cheeks dimpling around her mirth. "Keep it up, perhaps even the birds will be as distracted as I!" Rose's Stats Rose's HP: 27 - 5 = 22 Swarm HP: 25 - 0 = 25 Weapon: Balanced Bow (6 damage)

Even though she was starting to feel useful, Mercy had begun to loose a bit of stamina. Why? Probably because she was constantly swinging a huge a** hammer, which did require a lot more upper strength than she had. She was going to suck it up and keep going, defeat these little bastards, and thank her new comrades before going to find Mathilda for some pity food. OR she could try to kill another bird on her own again, which seemed much more appealing. Once her mind was made up, Mercy kept a smile on her face while she threw her hammer [ with a great amount of effort ] at a bird that was flying too close. She had a bubble and she didn't feel like getting her coat damaged anymore than she had to. Stats Mercy's HP: 25 - 5 = 20Weapon: War Hammer Melee -- Heavy Mod: 10 damage, -1 to hit LARGE SWARM Hit points: 30 - 5 = 25 Damage: 5 each time attacked

"Having fun?" he said, matching Mercy's smile with his own wolfish grin as he stepped up beside her and swung his sword, lancing the blade through a bird's wing. The thing began to lose altitude, continuing a quick and uncontrolled descent to the snow as its one good wing made a vain attempt to battle gravity and lift it up again. Had to give it to those heavy weapons, he thought. They looked tough to use, but the damage they dealt seemed more than worth it. Cas' HP: 30 - 5 = 25 Damage dealt: 100% x 6 = 6 Birds' HP: 20 - 6 = 14 Weapon: Sword (base 6) (I think this math is right? Mercy's hit would've been 25 - 5 = 20 to the swarm since they were already at 25 by Rose's turn?)

"A blast!" Misha answered with a laugh as she swung her shield at the nearest bird. When all she did was barely clip it, however, she scowled and repeated, " Blast!" The bird retaliated with a swipe at her shoulder and tore a ragged gash in the fabric of her coat. She grunted and ducked down further into the snow to avoid a more direct hit. "I guess they're getting desperate or I'm getting tired." Misha's HP: 36 - 5 = 31 Birds' HP: 14 - 2 = 12 Misha's Weapon: Buckler (4+1)

Rose offered a playful whistle to Cas' display, encouraging the ex-Marine. Where her comrades were dispatching of the birds with ease, she found her shots were still wavering, her grip unsteady. She wasn't sure if it was an offset of exhaustion, the size of the group gathered or the size of the flock, but she certainly felt that she was under performing. "Now I am!~" she laughed, readying herself for another swing. Mercy felt sorry for the poor bird that was on the reciving end of her hammer, laughing when it fell to the ground and stayed there, the huge dent on the side quite visible. "Ha! Dumb a** bird~" Victory was to be had since that looked like the last bird in the flock. Mercy turned to face her new comrades, hefting her hammer onto her shoulder with pride. And as soon as it had started, it was over. Rose felt relief flood her shoulders, the likes of which slowly began to relax once she was certain the flock was well and truly dead.
There was nothing she wanted but the safety of the hotel and two certain individuals. Hearing something about speakers and seeing a trail of people starting up the mountain, she gently touched Cas' arm and tipped her chin towards the lines, before taking off herself.
They weren't done yet.
