Even though the others were being nice about it, she was really disappointed in herself. She pushed with all her might, but they were doing better. She felt like she was holding them back, not pulling her weight. The only thing that kept her from running and going to help at an easier slope was her pride.
As she took a break, letting the others pull for a while, she reminded herself that brute strength wasn't really her thing. There was a reason she chose the bow and arrow as her weapon. Sure she was strong, it took great strength to pull back the string of her bow, but not this kind of strength.

Rose smiled to herself as she recalled Misha, the graceful dancer that had challenged her on the stage. She did not interrupt the other's continued conversations, however, taking up the mantle of Bearer of the Speakers when she felt able to do so.

There were enough willing backs being put toward this chore that Mal hoped it'd be done soon. They were, he thought, maybe one third or slightly better of the way there-- once his turn was done and he set the speaker down again, he shaded his eyes from the light coming off the snow to peer upward, where they needed to go to set the speaker. His glasses were starting to fog a little from the exertion.

With a deep breath, Misha took the load again and fixed her eyes ahead. Further up the slope, closer to the goal. It was just a matter of one foot in front of the other. The strain was starting to wear on her muscles, though. It looked like she was a sprinter and not a marathon runner here.
She grimaced as she lowered the speaker again and held it steady for the next person.

Rose drew in another deep breath, feeling a touch threadbare at the events of a single day. It felt like they'd existed in a lifetime, encapsulated in the hours that at times dragged and at others, evaporated in the blink of an eye. Words weren't easy in the cold, thin air, and as such, she chose to keep hers in short supply, simply accepting the mantle of carrying the speakers when able.
It was a slow, thankless task, but at least they weren't doing it alone.

Mal waited until he had gotten more of his breath back before he got up to help again. Damn speakers. Damn birds, too. But he moved it a little further along than last time, and that was at least gratifying. It also steamed up his glasses, and this time when he set the speaker down, he moved aside and took his glasses off the wipe away the condensation, breathing deeply.

Climbing up the hill was nothing short of a chore for Mercy. Sure she worked out, but that didn't mean she was Wonder Woman. Perhaps it was the food she ate just before she decided to help out with the speakers, or maybe she was finally starting to burn out? Whenever she was able to get off campus, she was going to buy a PlayStation 2 and a DDR mat so she could play Dance Dance Revolution and knock off some extra pounds. She walked up to help push with all her might, sighing as her arms shook with the effort.
At least she might have some killer calves and buns after this~

He remained seated in the snow until he grew too cold to be comfortable and then Zan was off again, retrieving the speaker from the last person who'd moved it and continuing up the slope. Much as he had on the shallower trail, he made it twice as far on his second try as he had on his first, which still wasn't very far at all.Total: 50/100

Mal slipped his glasses back into an inside pocket and nodded as he took over the speaker again. It was cold, dreary, and laborious, but as long as it was getting done it was hard to complain. As long as it meant fewer birds with less poop, it was even harder to complain much.

Truth be told, Davor was ready to pass out. He'd trudged up four slopes, straining with the rest against those speakers, worrying over the birds' sudden return in the back of his mind -- it was when he found himself alone on his way to the double diamond slope that he finally caved. From his coat pocket, he pulled out his flask and drank[/i,] maybe more than he'd meant to but god did the burn feel good. And you know, the heart's blood mixed in wasn't bad.
Davor didn't like to think of it as drinking on the job. He felt better, it was for the good of his productivity...! And honestly, his arm was killing him and at least booze could sometimes numb the phantom pain. That was something he couldn't really explain. With more of a spring in his step, Davor proceeded to climb up the slope -- it was difficult, and a wonder they'd gotten so far, even for a man who'd lived in the mountains and by god he would die on one. Just, not today.
Once again slipping in, hopefully undetected, to lend some strength to this final endeavor, Davor grabbed hold of the speaker and pushed his weight forward against it, managing to budge it a bit further.

It was rough, like a run up a hill in full ruck, but everyone was still here. They were their own little army, their own little force. He was having a hard time breathing and couldn't quite feel his nose or lips, but they had no choice. They had to finish this. He took up his turn, grimacing, and figured that not being able to feel one's fingers might be a plus at this point.

Not being able to feel one's hands or feet or face might be a plus at this point, but slipping in snow was less fun. Mal heaved out a slow breath and took his turn wit hthe speaker again; he managed to move it further yet this time, maybe the furthest he'd done so far, and at least that was a small pleasure.

Ah, seems the firewater didn't help as much as Davor thought it would -- he slumped against the giant speaker with a frustrated grunt, the damn thing hardly moving even as he tried shoving forward in earnest. He backed off, taking a breather for a moment. Only a moment, he'd be back...!

At this point Tom had mostly been trailing behind all of the others. He unfortunately had only been in time to help with this last trail, as he had been too busy inside taking care of those who were wounded.
He didn’t seem to be of much help though as he trudged his way along. Growing up in California he didn’t have very much skiing practice, even if he could have gone quite easily. He was too busy doing other… stuff.
And so right now he was mostly here to help those who may have gotten hurt along the way or collapsed with exhaustion so that he could lend his aid. If he caught up to the leads he would help them carry the speaker, but otherwise he would be in the back, making sure that he could at least tend to those who were having a bit of trouble.

That was a new face. Mal waved at the new face, a salute hello, before he took his turn with the speaker again. It seemed like he barely got it anywhere before he set it down again, and staggered off to sit in the snow. Ugh.
