Azana Brown One cannot pay too much heed to the fundamentalist Bible-thumpers. They hardly represent most Christians (there are nice ones, and even open-minded ones!), but we must pay attention to the fact that they do exist, and in large enough numbers to be of danger to Pagans. They are the ones who perpetuate the bad stereotypes of Witches and all who deviate from their uber-Christian ways. I can just see the scene in heaven... Jesus: For my sake! You fundamentalist guys are giving me a bad name!! I mean, seriously, some of these ideas they have are more far-fetched than most of our mythology and much of the Biblical events. Theres a site, www.truechristian.com , that denounces everything from The Wiggles to Count Chocula cereal. They even turn on Christians who use the ichthus (Jesus Fish) as a symbol. It's nuts. Thanks for the site, Azana. I needed a laugh. I could quote some of the good stuff, but some of the things they say are kind of offensive.(they use "the n word" all the time)

Some people are just ignorant and immediately resort to stereotypes for what they do not understand. Perhaps if people actually took the time to look into sub-cultures, or better yet, actually get to know the person, such problems would not exist. Unfortunately, that would just be in a utopia, as discrimination, and people who refuse to change their beliefs, will always remain. Try not to take it to heart, though, as some people may sincerely think that you worship the devil, as it may be beyond their understanding or range of knowledge. This, however, is no excuse for mere stupidity xd . I am Catholic myself, but I am very open to other religions, beliefs, and cultures, and furthermore respect them. I find it to be quite silly that people believe that one's way of life is "wrong" simply because it differs from their own.

[Shattered]x[Glass] It really annoys me how people will automatically think Wicca = Witchcraft = Devil Worshipping. Its not like that at all. I'm quite fed up with constantly explaining over and over again that Wiccans don't even believe in the devil, and constantly have people trying to argue with me about it, when they have no clue of which they speak. "Wicca is devil worship! She'll cast a spell, and the devil will come kill us all!" "o_O Umm, no. Wiccans don't even believe in the devil. Its not part of the religion." "So now you're saying Witchcraft is a religion?" "No. Wicca, yes. Witchcraft, no. Witchcraft =/= Wicca." "Yes, it is!" I can't stand people who argue with me on a subject like this. They don't even know what they're talking about. Its just stupid how people just assume things like that. If Im correct, Wiccans praise or worship Mother Earth, or Gods and Godess. Am I right. Im not Wicca, so I dont really know.

DieiNoctis There's an old saying "It's not God I have a problem with, it's his fanclub." Sounds like a twist from Gandhi's quote, "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

I have a rather fun story. I was changing in the locker room after gym one day and talking to my friend. Somehow, the topic of witchcraft came up and I began explaining to her what a practice, how I do spells, the meaning of my triquetra necklace etc. Then some girl walks up, overhears me and goes "So you're a witch?" I say yes, and she starts asking me "So...how do you turn someone into a newt?" Then of course I had to explain that we don't do that and it's just stereotype. Then she asks "Can you make my crush break up with his girlfriend and fall in love with me?" So then I launched into the fact that we don't do love spells, destroy relationships, or bend free will, after which I started explaining about the broomstick riding, pointy hatted stereotypes and how it isn't true. So she stares at me for a moment then goes "So you can't fly or anything?" When I said no she just frowned, said "Being a witch is boring" and walked away. N00b...

I've never had a problem. I did have someone ask me if I was into witchcraft once but I do not think it was in a hostile manner. It was a question that kinda struck me off... as witchcraft is a pretty loaded term. xd

The whole time my papa was in the hosp I would take my tarot cards to keep my mind off things and I was using them.
My uncle walked up to me and asked me if that was witch stuff. I said no, it's just cards. And he's like Then what's the point?
Lol I didn't even try to explain that they 'divine' the future and answers to your questions. I'm christian and apparently since I am I'm not supposed to like that sort of thing *shrugs* I'm just a really open one lol not HARDCORE christian idk xD

It's really sad that in this day and age, people still think that way. I guess as long as humans exist, so will the ignorance and intolerance.
When I was twelve, some kid at school always asked if I worshipped Satan. When I told him that I was Christian (at the time, anyway), he said, "Oh, so do you go into church and say, 'All hail Satan!'?" and did a retarded bowing gesture. The reason for that is because I was wearing :: gasp! :: BLACK! Liek omg! Lametard. stare
That was in California, too. Now that I'm in Ohio.. This town is 95% white and Christian, with the occasional kid sporting a gaudy pentacle who probably doesn't know what the heck he's doing. Well, at least a few kids are in to psionics, so there's still some open-mindedness. sweatdrop

I think, between lack of time for experience, lack of proper sources, and lack of actualy openmindedness, most people are fairly un'educated', and or dense'stupid.
