Shun looked at one of the girls who questioned their situation. He had been about to say something when a creature of sorts caught his attention. He couldn't tell what it was exactly. It had run off too quickly. Then, before he really knew it, the one girl had run off after it.
"Wait. Stop--"
Too late.
With a sigh, he moved off after her. The creature had vanished, but now there were faint glowing... things in the air.
"Do not touch--"
Again, he was too late. He actually didn't know what those were, but he didn't really trust them. The detective kept his distance from the wisps, not wanting to come in contact. They might not be actively malicious, but that wasn't to say they couldn't be harmful in some other way.

"What the-" Temperance almost reached out to touch one of the floating things before drawing her hand back sharply. "These look kinda like luminessants... attracted to my azoth," she muttered. Temperance saw the girl she'd been following touch one and rush forward. Who knew if these things hurt or hindered or what. "Are you alright?" She laid a hand on the girl's arm and one of the wispy things drifted close, sliding across her cheek before she could jerk away.

The murmur brushes Temperance's cheek, bursting this time like a floating wish, enveloping her senses suddenly with a flood of feeling and images that begin calmly enough.. It's a calm day, a nice day, you sit to enjoy a break, a rest. The respite is warm and comfortable. But it comes. It always comes. And you're too slow, body heavy and sluggish, and you know better than to try and run.. never fast enough. You are left with a lingering sadness and futility as the murmur disperses.

Once he wasn't in danger of leading anymore, Theo trailed along after fed-up woman and stern man, avoiding the bits of fluff as well as he could. The two who he thought had touched them still seemed to be among the living, but the third time was always the charm. If these air jellyfish were sentient, they'd probably learned to kill by now.
The thoughts this place made him think. Theo sighed.
All he was certain of was that they shouldn't be attracting attention. Every time one of them spoke, he vowed to keep quiet all the more fervently.

The murmurs still float on the street in clusters, closing in on them and leaving no path backwards. They're being herded, it seems, towards the theatre now. It's marquee glows faintly but whatever is playing cannot be made out. The theatre doors look like a normal business, nothing fancy about them (plain glass waiting to be opened) but - should anyone try them - they do not open. Before Dawson could utter more curses, the group was beset upon by one of the wandering, floating groups of glowing garbage he recognized from his only other visit to Other Ashdown. And his freckled face grew paler in the dark rain.
"Don' let 'em touch ya!" he yelped to the group as he caught up. "These dang magic shoppin' bags got some kinda s**t goin' on. Tells ya weird stuff ya shouldn' know, gets right in yer head." Well, he didn't really know a lot about them, but America had spouted some weird stuff after a couple had tangled their tentacle-whatevers on her, and he didn't like it.
Dawson tried the theater doors, which rustled but didn't give. "Damn it. Someone wanna help me with this?" Maybe getting inside would be safer for now, until they figured out a way to turn off this nightmare.
Which was about when one of those jellyfish plopped onto his trucker hat like a pleased little bird.

The shock of energy would have been enough to make Juniper fling her hand to dislodge the strange jellyfish thing. Unfortunately for Juniper, the energy jolt brought along with it a very vivid sensation. A memory of sort, that felt like it was her own, overtook her senses. It wasn't long. In fact, time wise, it probably was only mere seconds before the girl was shaking her hand in an attempt to free herself from the already disspated object. Her face pale. "What the hell! What was that!?" The feeling of trepidation and fear still echoed from the memory. In fact, Dawson yelling for assistance as he pushed on the doors was what snapped Juniper into realizing that more of the strange puffs were headed towards them. She certainly did not want to be touched by another one. Fending off a shiver from her little experience, Juniper hurried over to help Dawson. "If they won't open, can we just break the glass? Wait no. Then they can get in too." She glanced behind her to see the wisps growing closer around all of them. "What is going on? I have to be dreaming!"

It slid down along Dawson's hand, tendrils caressing his face. The man was quickly caught in another moment. He was not trying to open the doors to the theatre, he was trying to hold them shut. Hold, hold, hold! Stay in, stay in, stay in! His hands locked to the doors, everything put into keeping them closed.
Not enough.
The doors burst open. Fear washes over every fiber of his being.Dawson is pushed back with the force of the memory, landing flat on his butt in front of the doors. They're still closed, the glass unnaturally black and not revealing anything.

Shun stepped back, trying to keep his distance from the strange floating things. It looked like they had managed to touch a few, though he wasn't noticing any immediate adverse effects. He couldn't really tell if they were doing anything to them, really. Still, he was wary. One man wanted to try and get the theater doors open. And it certainly seemed like these wisps were pushing them towards it. He didn't assist. Not yet. "I do not think it would be wise of us to go in," he muttered. Something in this place wanted them to enter. At least it seemed so. That much made him want to do more of the opposite. "This is not a dream," he said to the girl that had exclaimed. As much as he tried to avoid the things, he couldn't keep track of all of them around him. One of the murmurs brushed against his back.

Admittedly, Theo didn't think it was the best idea to go inside, but they were surrounded, and the only way they were going to manage to keep these things away from them was if they went somewhere the wisps could not.
He glanced at the first woman who'd been touched and with a reckless rush he leaned in to help her with the door, somehow managing to avoid their apathetic foes. He had thought this place was a dream the first time too, and although he didn't think that now, he wasn't about to say so out loud.

The murmur floats upwards, part of it sliding against the back of Shun's neck. Sensation prickles at his skin as he finds himself in a memory as well. He is small, he is caught. They close in around him, pushing in and blacking out the sky. So many hands touching him, holding him, and he tries to lash out but-Nothing. The memory fades. Light suddenly flashes down the street, a crack of thunder. It is startling, out of place, and when the light fades - when people can see again - there is someone standing at the theatre doors. Dressed as a movie usher from the 1920s is what looks to be a dark skinned man. Except that his skin is glossy, reflecting back the limited light. Most startlingly enough is, upon closer inspection, he has no face. It is a mannequin, frozen in position with a hand around the door handle about to open it. Should they try to budge him, he does not move and the doors still do not open.

Shun grew incredibly tense as there was practically an overwhelming claustrophobic feeling hitting him. His fists went up reflexively as he went into a defensive stance. Too many things were touching him. He needed to get away.
His punch hit nothing but the air, and the feeling was gone.
As his eyes darted around while he tried to make sense of what had just happened, he took in several deep breaths. Right. He was outside of the theater in Other Ashdown along with a handful of civilians. The detective wasn't sure what that vision was just now, but he really didn't like this whole circumstance.
Someone new stood at the theater doors. He wasn't with them. The lack of a face was telling enough for that. A mannequin?
"We should leave this place."
Unfortunately, he didn't have Mercer's abilities to see where the veil was weak. He didn't really have a way of leading these people back to Ashdown.

Juniper let out a startled yell at the flash of light and crack of lightning. A blush immediately crept across her face at her sudden outburst but as she turned back to the doors which she had just been moving to begin tugging on, she let out another startled yelp at the sight of the...mannequin? "Alright. This place is creepy. How the hell did that get there?" Her brows furrowed as she leaned in closer to it. After all, working retail meant she wasn't particular off put by the human forms. What bothered her more was the fact that it had just...appeared. Still, she made a point not to touch it considering her experience with the white jellyfish things. The man beside her, whom had come to help try to tug open the doors mentioned about leaving. She was on the same page as him at this point. "I'd be quite happy to just go back to my apartment right now." Though, she was getting the feeling that going home wasn't as easy as turning around, dodging the weird....things, and walking back.

It moves. There is no sound but it moves. The faceless mannequin turns it's head as if it is looking at each and everyone of them. Despite everything it's movements are smooth and fluid. It bows at the waist, one arm held across itself, as it pulls open the door to the theatre. There is no more movement. Light floods out, warmth floods out, and the scent of fresh popcorn is on the air. Unlike the dreary outside everything within the theatre looks bright, including the plush blood red carpet that is the floor. It is just an entry way with a ticket booth, another pair of doors separating them from truly being inside. Another one of the mannequins is there, poised behind the till, as if waiting to sell tickets. Quote: next advancement tag @ 1300 EST

"Unfortunately, I do not know of any fast exits nearby."
Even so, getting away from the theater may be a start. When the mannequin moved, his attention turned towards it. The way it moved was incredibly uncanny.
"Something wants to show us something."
It was the only explanation he could think of as to why everything was so centered around this theater right now. Shun wasn't so certain he wanted to see whatever it was, though. He looked back towards the sea of wisps, trying to see if there might be a way to get through and away.
