The woman felt the bindings slowly being released one by one, even if it hurt with each one, it was still a relief that whatever was with her was helping her. "...Rika.." she muttered softly as the chain around her neck came loose and she fell to her knees then completely collapsed to the ground, not moving, but at least still breathing. Her clothes were covered in scorch marks and her skin had burns scattered along her flesh that only increased in severity the farther down her down one would look, her legs being the worst of it.

She slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry as she saw the cat and looked slightly confused but still grateful. "...thank you.." she whispered through a raspy voice.

The cat looked at her, glowing eyes staring straight at her as it meowed again and lashed its tail. Staring down at her legs it continue to lash it's tail as Ree muttered something about third degree burns.

The cat stared at her again and slowly floated her up, testing the weight it stop lashing its tail and headed back toward Ree"Mrrrrrr" , normally it wouldn't have but they had no familiarity with the area and no way to easily avoid being seen or followed if she was seen so better to get her back to its main body.

She grimaced as she began to be moved, something that she didn't quite understand. The cat stayed with her, but there's no way a cat had magic, even if it was slightly glowing and had wings.

At this point, she was convinced she had died and this was just part of some odd hell she existed in, even if it all looked the same to her. Her breath was shaky as she tried to concentrate away from the pain.

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to just understand what it all was, she opened them to find the cat taking her to one of the storehouses. She didn't seem to object even if she knew this place would be swarming with authorities soon enough, or at least just outside.

If she was actually still alive, that is.

She mimicked the noise the cat was making as she closed her eyes again. Maybe she was a little too light-headed from all the smoke she inhaled.

The cat hurried as Ree pushes himself to his feet turning to open the door with a faint frown then jus opening the door, watching the cat enter the room followed by the women. ".....Those look bad. " he muttered but stayed where he was as the cat lowered her and turned back to try and do a little bit of healing as he felt a little light headed.

The woman sighed a bit before she finally heard his voice. Opening her eyes slowly, she looked at him, her expression changing from confusion to worry. "...an archangel..?" she muttered quietly, trying to make heads or tails or who he was and why he saved her. She stared at his cat-like eyes and tried to reach up to him but then began to cough again which interrupted her curiosity.

"...your eyes..." was all she managed to stammer out during her fit of coughing. A black winged archangel with cat eyes. Now she knew she was either unconscious or dead. "...I'm Vina..." she offered her name.

After her coughing died down, she took in a breath of air. "Lady Carmella is going to be none too happy that you messed with the order of things here..." she commented, slowly coming to terms with still being alive and the injuries she had garnered. Sitting up very gradually, she winced hard at the waves of throbbing pain.

"Well I knew I that was going to make someone unhappy. I just didn't that it was a person" he leaned back slightly away from her has as she reached out to him. She wouldn't be the first one but it was always disconcerting. "I'm Ree..and I'm yes they are s little odd " he said quietly with a hint of discomfort as she sat up. The cat moved away and headed back outside to keep watch giving him disconcerting double vision now and then even a mentalcomment or two of him being the lazy one.

"Don't try to move to much, you have multiple third degree burns and you won't feel them but they are there. We need to move or stay ... " worried about her cough."Can you tell me what is happening in this city? Why they are going after you..or at least magi and what is wrong with the true races here?" Wanting ..hoping she can confirm or dispel a doubt of his as he reached out and sent a little more healing to her but saving energy for later.

Vina frowned once he had confirmed that he knew his actions would upset some sort of balance, and looked away when he drew back at her reach. He spoke his name and commented about his eyes and she instantly regretted saying anything about them once she saw noticed the tone of his voice. "Sorry."

"...I feel them... It hurts..." she spoke sorrowfully, the weight of it all only increasing in her mind. "We need to move... I mean, you should be fine, but I need to find a place to hide until I can finish what I was doing. If they find me they'll just try to kill me again." she explained with a slight sigh and deep frown.

He began to ask a plethora of questions and she looked at him with concern. "You found your way here but know nothing of this place?" she asked bluntly then shook her head. "I guess I could try to explain it to you.. Least I can do for saving my life."

"This whole city is a madhouse. Lets see. Well, this used to be a human run city in harmony with true race city on the main land. Lady Carmella came in and became the human leader here, that's when a lot of things changed. They attacked the true race city and stole them all away or killed them. Lady Carmella owns this whole island. And all the non-humans." she explained calmly through elevated breaths to keep her concentration from the pain in her lower torso. "Humans using magic is seen as the non-humans taking control of our spirits through evil means, turning humans into magi or witches.... They seem to think the liberation of one's soul from their body will save them from damnation." she looked down to the ground with pain in her eyes. "Most of the humans they liberate aren't even Magi. Like myself.. I'm not even a magi." she then confessed, her eyes tracing the dark burn marks along her skin and taking in the small of burnt flesh with disgust and sadness.

"I'd suggest you go to an inn. Rest up. Do not eat their food. Do not talk to anyone but the innkeeper. And leave this place before the skies turn purple. Which is tomorrow night. You're a traveler, you should be fine." she instructed in a worried and stern voice.

"This place is dangerous. Just try not to bring more attention to yourself. I don't want any more good people getting hurt by that woman."

That explained the city in ruins and confirmed his worry in the way the humans just turned on him as if he had done seething wrong. Damn it, he usually tried to avoid places like this.

Ree looked at her sadly "That is for human travelers right? Why would they bother to differentiate a passing true race? " he shook his head, guessing they drug the food and he would have likely fallen for it, darn it, darn it, darn it.

" What are you trying to do? Because in the best case I could fly you over to the main land tomorrow ...assuming they don't find us" he muttered looking at her leg as he basically told her how he got here, they needed somewhere safe, already he was planning on how to keep her safe as best he could. Killing someone for some stupid story like that....destroying a town for slaves. It was just like Criel....mini Criel.

"You mentioned a purple sky tomorrow what happens during that?" he asked as well with a frown for a moment seeng double then not.

"Yeah, you're not branded, they can't keep you. You'll be fine as long as you do what I told you. I don't know why, but that's just the way it works." she answered with certainty. "I know that's riding on the truth of someone you just met. But you don't really have a choice if you don't want to be like them."

"No, I can't leave the island yet. I have to get Rika back first." she insisted with almost a demanding anger to her voice. "I just need to figure out how to get her out and the others then we can to try to get out. It may be a while, since I was trying to get her out before the purple sky came... But it's coming too soon."

She sighed and looked at Ree with a slight concern in her expression. "If you are still here when the sky turns purple, you'll be stuck here for 25 days before it lets up again. There is only a 10 day window of being able to get out.. But they know that and they watch for it.." she explained, her eyes looking very serious before she shifted and she winced from the pain. She was trying to figure out how she was even going to heal the wounds without getting captured again and risking being burned alive once more.

"Lovely.... I wish for a stick up the butt for a certain ghost....all the way up the colon " he muttered quietly then shook his head. "I seem to be in the phase of trusting random stranger lately ... " he closed his eyes for a moment, seeing outside and sighing softly trying to figure out what he was going to do before opening them again. He wasn't that trusting of her either but it didn't seem like he could trust to many people here...and someone he just rescued seem to be the best bet ..ironically.

"A few more questions. When the sky turns purple what is preventing any flyer from leaving? What is the defense? And I assume any traveler caught within those 25 days suddenly becomes a life long guest?" He ask quietly holding his hand out and down to indicate she should lower her voice.

"Next set of questions question. Who is Rika and why is she and others..I assume captured?" He asked quietly with a sigh. "I need to know...I might be able to help because I was sent here...not for this or really anything in particular just sent here, hence trusting strangers phase " he rolled his eyes a little. "Out of a list of three options this was one, except they never said what I might find here..nor did anything online." He frowned and shook his head " However, I am not particularly supportive of burning of people alive...I can help you or just ...really get in trouble myself wandering around " he frowned, dreading this already but needing to know about the purple sky thing.

"My help would include getting you get to a safe area if you know of one ..and finish healing those wounds" he motioned to her feet with a feeling of dread at what he was even considering trying to do...and he should heal her feet now anyways.

A lot of what he was saying didn't make much sense but then again, there wasn't much beyond the island that she knew. No matter, he still had more questions.

"This island is sealed by magic and moves further away from the mainland. Very far. You'd likely feel drained of energy before you even made it a fourth of the way back and fall into the ocean. And it's kind of inevitable if you get stuck here, they will find some way to get you." she explained quickly.

There were male voices yelling in the distance and they were approaching fast. Time was running out even if he still had more questions. "Rika.. uh.. They are all owned by Lady Carmella in the lands to the south of the island. Rika is someone very important to me. I don't want to talk about it." her eyes were worriedly looking to the door as she sped up her answers. "We are trapped here. I don't know if there's anything you can do to help. It's beginning to look like a lost cause until the purple sky leaves again."

Vina moved to grab something around her neck, a leather cord as she untied the backing and pulled what was attached to it from her blouse. It was a black cord with a smoky orange and yellow crystal fixed as a charm to it. She shoved it into his hands. "At this point, you need to leave. I have a trump card if they come here so don't worry about me." she looked to the ground, "They will likely take me to Lady Carmella..." she pushed past the sorrowful look in her eye and turned a determined expression to Ree. "That crystal should bring you at least a little luck with getting out of this place." she waved him toward the door as the yelling voices were getting louder. "Go, get out of here. Get a room at the inn, leave in the morning. I'll be fine. You'll be fine. But you have to go now." she insisted with a stern look, narrowing her eyes at him.

Ree took the crystal but narrowed his eyes back at her intently. Stubborn...just like Mara. "They tried to burn you.....do you want to die? Because they are likely just going to go do that again or worse" not understanding at all.

The cat phased back through the door and jumped onto his shoulder, white and black and making a soft mrring sound while lashing its tail.

Ree kept his eyes narrowed as the colors on the cat switched completely to white and his expression relaxed a bit. "Sorry, I can't do more but ..." He said nearly emotionlessly as he Shrouded her in thick thick shadows, but there was nothing he could do for the smell with her hunters so close by.

"Don't make a sound if they come in, this should last you a few minutes " he said glancing up toward the ceiling and shrouding any hanging lights as well, letting only natural light in. Assuming that they were coming in so fast meant they were doing a cursory check around, this might give her more of a chance.

Frowning faintly at her he sighed and looked out the window and sight-teleported out. (Sight teleport:9 left)

Vina shot back a look of resistance when he asked her if she wanted to die. "Don't you think I know that, I'm not an idiot!" she hissed in a hushed voice. She paused then sighed with a frown for the moment before Ree began to enshroud her and the fixtures with darkness. She watched calmly then nodded slowly as he spoke. "Thank you." she spoke quietly and took a shaky breath then lowered her head as he sight teleported out.

The men appeared to be assessing the damages first and looking over the dead man. There were seven men in total, two of them took the dead body, leaving five of them to look at the mess that had been caused, muttering among themselves. Although their words were inaudible, it was clear they were talking about the magi that had seemingly escaped.

At this point, the men were even contemplating looking for her at all at the moment since the skies were darkening and it was easier to look for her in the morning when it was light out, knowing well she couldn't have gone far. Things had appeared to settle down and most people were moving indoors from the streets after the chaos that had ensued just earlier.

What does Ree want to do:
  • Find a place to hide out.
  • Go to the inn like Vida told him to.
  • Seek out the government building
  • Look for a place to eat
  • Check out Lady Carmella's estate
  • Try to leave the island now

Ree crouched down silently watched from one of the roofs as the men look over the area where they had tried to burn Vina earlier. His eyes cold as he stared at them and the body and the memory of the excited look on the other person's face..it made him a little sick both the glee he saw there and his own action of making him the scape goat. Everyone was bright but he was starting to learn everyone could also be ugly.

He noted each one encase he encountered them later but it seemed that they weren't going to head out and look for Vina just yet, that gave her some times as well as him. If he found something he could come back for her if she was still there, either ways he was still to tired to do the ocean crossing again even if he did use a skill instead without collapsing on the other side.

Vina's warning of the 10 days being watch made him think that he only arrive undetected due to her near execution. Which meant he couldn't return to the mainland and replenish, not with the city he had passed in rubble and he didn't know how far the nearest town was. At least he had packed enough food when he took off and replenished along the way but it was not enough for nearly a month..maybe a week and a little more if he was careful, having planned on replenishing once he arrived here. Well that was a no go....he just hoped that it was drugged food at the inn and not that the food here in general was tainted. And ...paranoia....right keep that in check. Which meant that he didn't trust the inn at all...innkeeper or not he is not staying somewhere where he would wind up a slave from the wrong choice.

"What am I doing?" He muttered quietly to the cat, relieved at least that Vina was safe for the moment while also guilty and slightly annoyed she ordered him to leave when she was that injured. He had no reason to stay at all...if anything just the fact that they would be trying to capture him and brand him was more than enough reason for him to leave.

Reaching up his fingers brushed along his neck an action he had seen Tri do unconsciously during their trip to Belrad and now he understood why...an understanding he wish he never gain from the person he never thought would do it.

He did wish he had more information but if he barely found anything online except something that was years old then he could try and look at the government offices...except his warrent was still up, who knows if they didn't get an update every time their island came near the coast. Then was also Lady Car....something caramel? At the south end of the island.....not something he had any intrest in looking at not without Vina there. Yes Caramel's actions made him angry like it did many of the true races here, it was like Criel and the Renegades and it made him feel angry but also apathetic ...mainly apathetic like his general attitude all the way here until just recently.

He spent a lot of time with his thoughts alone during the trip even when he knew she was there. The fact she was there made things a little more bearable but he was tired in a way that didn't affect his body.

At least he tried to distract himself by giving running commentary to himself out loud at things he passed and....he was distracting himself. Resting would be good but not here..not at the inn. He'll look around maybe try to find something a little more suiting..an island ...see how big it is ..avoid all those areas that look like great hiding places because that is where most run away might have gone too....try and locate the richer areas ...at least Tri's teaching hasn't gone to waste. Then tomorrow, if he found something and Bina was gone, he'll see if he could return back to the mainland, quest or no quest.

Sparing some energy to extend shroud to his wing tips and hair again he took wing, the cat dimming it's light as it adjusted carefully but almost seem to defy physics ...it likely did just being a part of him and not likely truely there. Going higher and away from the men he tried to get a better idea of the island.
