Well.... well. That wasn't exactly the sort of domicile he'd expected, but then again he did know that Zevran was still new to the island. Maybe he hadn't come with much more than what he had with him and couldn't afford rent anywhere - or didn't really care to try? Renting was expensive, and if someone could live somewhere without paying any rent and felt comfortable doing so, then that was their prerogative. It wasn't anything he'd be comfortable doing, but if Zevran was then that was fine with him.
What wasn't fine was that it was, as he'd said, an abandoned warehouse - one without hot water or electricity, or probably any place clean enough to tend to bloody wounds that could become infected if not tended to properly. "Yeah I see what you mean now," the blond admitted with a short nod, "abandoned warehouses aren't exactly the best place to be fixing yourself up after eventful afternoons like yours. And nope, that's not a price I'm about to argue," he added with a brief, rueful grin. No, he'd never argue with free, not with Alyssa breathing down his neck every damn day. On that note, hopefully she wouldn't show up or harass him this evening... That would be the worst timing - and just his luck, of course. "Do other people live there too? Having a big empty abandoned warehouse all to yourself sounds kinda lonely." And potentially a little worrying, but that was probably his paranoia talking.

That was a pretty good reaction so far as he could tell, no pursing of lips in disapproval or distaste. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if Abel did disapprove but it was more pleasant not to have somebody you got along with looking down upon you for your living arrangements.
"Ahah, there are better places it is true. Quite a number of better places in fact," Zevran said with a hint of amusement at the understatement. "And there are others there, yes, a handful of... shall we say free spirits? But things are a little difficult at the moment, Starchild and Dawn are not speaking to one another and everyone else seems to have taken sides. Personally I would prefer not to get involved in their domestic difficulties, but that means avoiding everyone until things calm down." Or until they reached breaking point and one of them either left or murdered the other one. Hopefully not murder, that sort of thing would attract unwanted attention when whoever had swung the hatchet inevitably became overwhelmed with guilt and confessed to the police.

"Heh." Almost anywhere was a better place, he couldn't help but think, but that was neither here nor there. If Zevran was comfortable living there - and didn't have any problems with it - then that was enough for him. It definitely wasn't the best place to live, but it at least provided him with shelter from the rain - unless it leaked, which it might've for all he knew - and kept a roof over his head. At least until winter, as he'd said. Where would Zev go after that, he wondered?
Not that that was important at the moment. No, what was important was getting him patched up before he passed out - or worse - from blood loss. ...just how much was he bleeding? He seemed more or less okay apart from his pale complexion, he was awake and talking... Maybe it wasn't too bad? For his sake, he hoped not.
"...uh," Abel began eloquently, "Starchild? Dawn I can understand, but Starchild? Seriously...?" What sort of person would name their child that - or themselves, if that was the case. Actually the more he thought about it, in all likelihood it was the latter. "Yeah, I wouldn't get involved either... But hey, it might be good for some entertainment, yeah? Well, unless things get too heated, of course," he added after a moment of thought as they entered the city once more - much earlier than a bus would've. Souring relationships usually weren't good things, but could be fun to watch if they were more or less harmless. Harmful ones, on the other hand, wouldn't do any good for anyone, and he found himself hoping it was a temporary harmless spat. If it wasn't, living there would probably end up a bit awkward for Zevran... And presumably everyone else that lived there, of course.

"Si, Starchild." Zevran couldn't help but smirk a little as he added; "He used to be called Jeff. Jeff Johnson. But then he discovered himself at a festival and now he is Starchild Dreamer, he packed up his graphic design job and turned his back on capitalism as much as he could. The ah, the breadth of the human experience is staggering no? Mmmh and at the moment things are less entertaining more... icy. Rather awkward." Zevran sighed slightly and closed his eyes wearily for a moment before shaking his head and looking over at Abel with a wry smile. "If things do become amusing however I will be sure to share the fun with you! Perhaps I will develop some kind of scoring system for witty retorts."

"That's, uh... that's..." Weird? Dumb? Baffling? "Interesting," the blond finally decided on - after all, if that was how the guy wanted to live, then that was his own business and no one else's - and then shook his head a bit to clear the thought. Was that a better or worse name than Sea Pancake?
"...ah, yeah, then that's just.. yeah, awkward. I can see why you'd want to avoid them all for a while, in that case. Hopefully they don't start coming after you demanding you pick sides. ...they haven't, have they?" He asked after a moment, his brow furrowing as he navigated through Camphoreon's streets with ease. Traffic wasn't too bad at the moment, and they were driving through areas he had become quite familiar with since he himself moved there... however long ago that was. Three years, four? "Heh. I hope it does turn amusing instead of awkward, it'd be fun to hear about whatever it is they're arguing about." And more than that, it'd mean no hostilities. At the moment there was no such guarantee, and that probably bothered him most of all with the situation.

"Interesting is a very good way to put it," Zevran agreed with some amusement; he couldn't understand it himself but if that was what made Starchild happy then he wasn't about to interfere, he hardly lived a normal life himself after all. Sometimes he wondered what it would be like, a normal job and an apartment and so on. Would he like it? He wasn't sure if it sounded dull or comforting, or perhaps both?
Abruptly Zevran became aware that he'd drifted off into thought a little, he gave himself a mental shake at the same time as shaking his head to Abel's question. "But no, thankfully they have not tried to involve me in their little spat. Everyone else seems to have chosen a side but they are... mmmh, all cut from the same tie-dyed cloth as it were. They are quite close knit, like a family, which I suppose makes me the slightly odd foreign lodger from their perspective." Zevran grinned a bit again at that thought. "If their lives were a television show I would be the new character introduced in season four when ratings were going down and the writers thought that some eye candy might help."

While Zevran's thoughts wandered, Abel kept quiet with his own thoughts as he drove purposefully through the city. His gaze shifted to his company briefly when he came back to earth, and despite the situation he couldn't help the small, amused grin that formed at his words. "Heh. Well, that's good they're letting you stay out of it. And you and I both know that even adding eye candy in season four won't save the series if it's already headed downhill," he added with a wry smile. Not that it was the same for Zevran's living situation, of course; hopefully that would improve before winter, or else he might have to look elsewhere before then.
Aaannndd he didn't really know what to talk about. Keeping Zevran talking was good and let him know that the other blond was still conscious and alert, but he struggled to think of anything to really talk about... "What do your pokemon think of your - ah - eccentric warehousemates?"

Heh, warehousemates. Zevran quirked a little smile at the strange but fitting word and pondered the question. Before he responded to that however; "Ah, yes, I think it will be time for me to move on before very long. There are many opportunities in Camphoreon, I am sure I will find something to my liking." Maybe he would get a real job somewhere, in a bar perhaps? He could think of worse things than serving drinks and flirting with attractive customers and if he didn't enjoy it then he would explore other options. There was always something one could do to make money.
"Amigo likes them," Zevran continued after a moment, giving the rather subdued bug a smile and stroking his head. "Amigo likes everyone, except for metal birds. Bloom likes them as well, none of them are too loud or boisterous. Of course that means that Vision finds them quite tedious, I have to keep returning things that she had stolen.... Ah, and Pan has not met them of course. We do not really socialise outside of The Sanctuary - that is what they call it - and it would not be kind to let him out to flop around on the floor just for the sake of it. As for my newest acquisition," Zevran gave Abel a wicked, if slightly worn looking grin, "I think it would like them quite well, possibly with a side of fries? I don't know if it would eat fries but flesh certainly seemed to be on the menu."

"It sounds like it, yeah. There's plenty of places to go here in the city, I'm sure you'll find something suitable," the blond agreed with a brief nod. The car ahead of them halted abruptly and Abel followed suit to avoid hitting them, and a frown worked itself onto his face as he watched the car slowly start to turn onto a street it had almost driven past. "I guess someone doesn't know where they're going," he murmured as he started driving again once the other car had turned.
Abel chuckled a bit at the various reactions; Vision must've been the Zorua from the egg Zevran had been given, and he knew of all the others. "The Sanctuary, huh? That sounds.. about as interesting as they do. But that all sounds pretty good - more or less, anyway, if you don't count the petty theft - except your rather voracious knife-bird. What're you going to do with it?" It sounded... rather dangerous to try and keep, but maybe Zevran could manage it? Hopefully without further injury.

The abrupt jolt made Zevran wince slightly; he joined in with the faint frown and shook his head. "It seems not!" A moment later he relaxed again and gave a disapproving tut, more light-hearted than his initial pain-edged reaction. "Some people should just not be allowed to drive, or at least they should be forced to put plates on their car to give fair warning to other road users!"
What was he going to do with the thing though? He didn't fancy a second round with the creature, he had been lucky to escape without more serious injuries the first time. "And you ask an excellent question," Zevran continued, thinking as he spoke. "Perhaps somebody with more experience will wish to trade with me, or buy it? Or I could try to train it myself, though I wouldn't really know where to start with something that thinks I look like lunch. Perhaps I can appease it with steaks? Mmh. Just keeping it in the pokeball is an option I suppose but it sounds rather cruel to me."

"They should," Abel agreed, and then left it at that. Zevran's other comments, though... "Maybe," he said thoughtfully, "though I bet Taavi knows what it is and could give you a few tips or something." If he wanted to, of course, but he couldn't imagine his friend not wanting to help someone with their pokemon. "I feel like you could appease almost anyone with steaks," the blond pointed out cheekily.
After a little while longer Abel turned into the parking lot behind his apartment building, guided the vehicle into an empty space, then shut off the engine. After removing his keys from the ignition and unlocking the doors, the blond got out and circled round to Zevran's side so he could open the door and address him. "All right, let's head up," he said as he jerked a thumb behind him and towards the nearby building. "Can you walk okay?"

That was a good point, Taavi was a ranger no? So he should know all about dealing with untamed pokemon, and if the knife bird could be brought around then surely it would be a powerful ally.... Oh, they were here.
"Humm, a good thought, I think I will speak to him of it," Zevran said as he opened his door and swung his legs out of the car. In answer to Abel's question he nodded and got to his feet, perhaps a bit too quickly because he had to lean against it for a moment before stooping to pick up his bag.
Amigo, who had jumped down onto the bag, made an unhappy chittering noise.
"Ah, don't fuss my friend," Zevran said with a wry chuckle and a lopsided smile. "I have had worse, and I am not about to die so there's really nothing to worry about." How far was Abel's apartment from the car park again?.... Abel had brought him to his apartment. Zevran turned to look at the other blond and gave a slightly awkward sounding laugh. "You know this is not usually how I get men to bring me home...."

Abel merely nodded - it wouldn't hurt to ask Taavi about it, after all - and watched closely as the other blond stood. Ah, not too bad so far, that was good. Since Zevran seemed to be capable of handling himself, Abel refrained from offering help or support just yet, although he remained nearby in case he needed it. In response to his friend's statement, the blond could only chuckle. "To be fair it's not how I usually bring anyone home, either," he countered with a light shrug, "and also to be fair, you didn't want to go to your home - not that I blame you with the, ah, lack of certain amenities - and you also didn't want to go to the hospital, so," he shrugged once more, "I didn't know where else to bring you. At least I have hot water," the blond added with a rueful smile.

Zevran frowned in a slightly perplexed manner. "Ah... that is a good point. I suppose I rather eliminated other options," he agreed, following alongside Abel automatically once again walking with care, as though he was concentrating quite hard on moving in a straight line. He didn't feel faint exactly, it wasn't that bad, but he certainly didn't feel good. "I will try not to bleed on anything you love!" he added after a moment with a grin; he wasn't sure what he thought about this. He didn't trust Abel but, strangely, he didn't not trust him either and normally he would not not trust....
Somewhere that sentence had got in an awful tangle and so he left it knotted up where it was, Abel had been friendly so far so there was no reason to think he was going to do anything unpleasant to him and even if he did so what? Mmh, yes, there were worse ways to die than at the hands of an amiable serial killer.

"You kinda did," he agreed with a soft, brief chuckle. Had he not realized, or was he just too preoccupied focusing on other things...? Shrugging it off for now, the blond hooked his thumbs into his pockets and walked alongside Zevran, matching his pace and sticking nearby, just in case. He chuckled again with more feeling this time. "How nice of you," he said, although truthfully he didn't really care too much where Zevran bled, it was how much - which hopefully wouldn't be much, for his sake.
A short walk brought them to the entrance, and an even shorter walk than that left them at the lobby's elevator. While he never really cared to use the stairs anyway, there was no way he'd even consider them this time. The doors smoothly slid open with a soft ding to allow them passage scarcely a moment after Abel pushed the button to summon it. Once both men stepped inside, a short ride up brought them to his floor, and it wasn't very far from there to his apartment door. As he fished for his keys again in his pocket Abel thought to say, "Sorry if it's a bit messy inside, I wasn't expecting company today."
