Jeremiah was not being patronizing, Wil. Not yet. The detective just stared when the treats were produced and gave Wil a look. "Sleight-of-hand is one thing, your fortune telling another, and who bloody well knows about alligators or the Jersey Devil, but your boyfriend is scarred from something that was real, Azevedo." Hellbine again gave no ******** and once he smelled those cat treats, Wil had an arm full of squirming cat (who was mindful of his claws). A hand was waved for him to go ahead and give the cat something since he had the treats. "Just like that place is real, even if you've never seen it."

Wil held the treats closer so Hellbine didn't need to squirm so much. "Yeah I know.." Wil's brow furrowed, "And I don't want him hurt again, okay?" Whether that place was real or not, if it was connected to monster clawing his boyfriend he didn't want anything to do with it and he wanted Nasir far away from it as well. The cook was too good for the hurt and he didn't deserve trauma. "I know I'm shitty but Nasir isn't," Wil drawled more as if it were a consensus than he himself believing it. He wasn't really the self deprecating type but he also wasn't blind to his own behavior and what others thought. He also knew exactly what people thought about 'poor Nasir' taking care of Wil all the time. "I want to know what to do to keep him safe if you know all about this. I don't need to know the spooky weird details and stuff..."

Hellbine was nipping very delicately to get the treats from Wil's fingers. They needed to go into his belly (and the purring resumed). Jeremiah raised an eyebrow at what Wil said, not quite sure that the blonde believed that about himself but not unaware of the popular opinion (he held it himself). "I wouldn't tell you the spooky details anyway," he replied with a sigh. "The more you know, the more you're to get pulled in. If you want to be safe? Avoid the things that reek of spooky weird details." He let out a breath, coming to a stop and staring hard at Wil. "However there's every chance that you're part of it and don't even realize it. Both of you."

Wil held out the treats only one at a time for Hellbine, letting him take a single one and eat it before he was allowed another. "All we did was go to a job fair at our school.. and we got mauled." Wil's hardlined expression wasn't usual for him. It seems when it came to protecting Nasir he was very serious. "Not exactly seeking things out." He sighed and it seemed deflated once more, body hunching and sagging in his usual bad posture as Hellbine was handed another single treat, "You're crap at reassurance detective."

"I'm not saying you are, Wil, I am saying that in this case, ignorance may actually be bliss." It was admirable just how much, how far Wil seemed to go to want to protect Nasir but at the same time he knew it could also be just as much trouble. Especially when he looked at where he was with his life and what his desire to protect others had caused. "If I could tell you what to do to keep him safe, I would do so." The detective looked tired suddenly, a cold breath released. "You can't see it but it's everywhere." Blue-green eyes glinted a moment as he glanced towards an alleyway where he could tell the veil was thin. "I can tell you what to do if you find yourself involved, I can offer you guidance on what you should do, but I can't give you what you want. I can't even guarantee the safety of my husband here, Wil. That is the kind of situation this is. The only thing you can do is be prepared."

Wil frowned deeply, wanted to ask why he would bother staying if it was so bad, but he knew he had to stay too. He and Nasir had plans which they were slowly working towards, but they needed to work and save and do those responsible things people do. "Alright.. " The blonde sounded a bit despondent and the brat in him wanted to follow with 'thanks for nothing' but he didn't. Instead he paid attention to the cute cat he was feeding. "It's our anniversary soon." Wil murmured in overly sweet cat-talk-voice to Hellbine, "I don't want it to get ruined. Trying to surprise him." Hopefully no monsters attacked. Should he carry a weapon?

Jeremiah was fishing a card out of his pocket while Hellbine continued to pick treats from Wil. The small cat was being a glutton but the detective said nothing about it (though Wil had a healthy bit of vine wrapped around his leg now). "If either one of you start to dream about the town but it's raining all the time, let me know." The card was held out for Wil to take. It had Jeremiah's personal number on it. (He told himself this was more for Nasir than Wil but the fact of the matter was that he could understand the need to keep a loved one safe so very well.) "I'm not remotely jesting about it either." There was a serious look on his face. An eyebrow was raised when the anniversary was mentioned. "How many years?"

Wil took the card, blinked at it, and swung his backpack around to stick the card in the front zip pocket that was shaped like a big jaggedy smile. "You know you can smoke this stuff called dream cabbage... gives you crazy vivid dreams. Totally legal and legit. But I'll let you know about anything not... induced." A pack of something herbal was produced, one cigarette taken out, and tucked behind his ear. Wil smiled at being able to talk about him and Nasir, or just Nasir in general. "Three years. We just graduated and we want to travel but we have to save.." Yes. Wil graduated college. Miracle of miracles. This lousy bum had a degree.

Jeremiah just rolled his eyes a bit at the mention of dream cabbage and legal and legit. "These dreams will not be vivid but they will be as real as us standing here now." That cigarette was given a hard look for no other reason than he had not yet started to sneeze and he almost expected that to be the trigger. Hearing that Wil had graduated was something of a surprise but then again- Well, the detective lieutenant had seen his senior project in the park (and knew he had gotten a permit from Scott) so he could only assume that he must at least do some work. "Three years?" Not surprising, he had always kind of thought they were a couple. "That's leather, I think, or crystal or glass if you're more modern." He shook his head, vaguely amused at himself for even remembering that knowledge. "I'm sure he'll enjoy whatever surprise you're planning."

Wil blinked at mention of leather, crystal or glass and he just laughed something short and dumb, "Dunno what that means but it sounds kinky." He apparently wasn't one for tradition. "I'm still working on the surprise.. but it should be good. Oh man what if you like fake arrested me.." He paused, " FAKE arrested, and he ets called to bail me out.." It was a new one, of many plans he'd been milling over. Some seemed lame, others he wasn't sure if they were a bit mean or not. Hopefully the payoff would be worth it. Wil shrugged again, "Working on it."

"Only if you go the leather route," Jeremiah replied with a snort, reaching to take Hellbine from Wil's arms and drop him onto his own shoulders. The small cat blinked lazily, feeling lazy and satisfied from all the snacks. "Along with the other one." What? The detective raised an eyebrow at the arresting bit. Farbeit of him to turn down a chance to even fake arrest Wil. "You have a more solid plan in mind, give me a call and I'll help out." Jeremiah's eyes glinted deviously. "Even if it doesn't involve fake arresting you." ... because he was a romantic for ******** sake.

Wil looked pleasantly surprised and smiled, "Cool thanks." Hellbine was given a little wave and he reached to scritch the small cat's head before hs stuffed his hands into his pockets. Of course his pants didn't quite fit right and the action just revealed that much more of the waistband of his underwear with his continued shirtlessness. He spied another bench in a sunny spot and finally pulled out a lighter, popped his cigarette between his lips, and lit up. Wil gravitated towards the spot and the worried conversation he'd initiated seemed to already have gone away. "You know glassware is like way more awesome than leather," helpful Wil tips you didn't need to know, "heats up, gets cold, easy to clean and I have this like gorgeous collection-" Maybe was doing this on purpose at this point with the way his eyes glinted under those curls.

Jeremiah was already taking a step back as soon as Wil lit up, waving the smoke off. His eyes narrowed suspiciously at the smoke more than the young man because he did not want to have another allergy fit. The detective's hand froze a moment and he let out a huff of breath, a near laugh. He knew that look on the blonde's face and possibly more than he wanted to know. "Yes, but leather keeps things where you want them to have fun with the other." He shook his head and rolled his eyes a bit. What had his day turned into? "I said both for a reason." Raising you Jeremiah tips you maybe didn't want to know.

Wil shrugged, "Guess I was never into the leather daddy thing," though Jeremiah got a look, "But you're the guy who picked to carry handcuffs for a living so-" Wil winked, finger gunned, and seemed to collapse onto the bench he'd found like a deflated balloon. He yawned, blew out some sneeze inducing smoke, and fell sideways to stretch out.

"That is a thing I don't even want to think about," Jeremiah rolled his eyes again. The comment about handcuffs just got a bit of a lip twitch but before he could respond Wil was blowing that smoke out and there was an oh so helpful wind that carried it his direction. He sneezed almost immediately, eyes watering. "******** sake," he growled low. "Don't linger around here too long, Azevedo. There's a new detective and despite the bloody primers he's been given on people in the town, you're likely to run into him." He sneezed again not bothering to say more than that. Instead Wil got an irritable wave of goodbye and the detective making a retreat to get far, far away from the smoke and those cigarettes.
