Jalase - 3 Jalase gave a small shrug and looked back in the direction he’d seen Len. The crowd had shifted and for all he knew the other boy had probably slipped away with his friend. Jalase ran a hand through his hair and looked back at the girl, deciding to go with who he had originally been hoping to catch sight of. “I was hoping to see my sister, actually.”

Itotia - Post 1
Oh why did Afsana have to throw out her clothes? Sure she had a similar outfit, but being back on the island made it so apparent how different she had become. Bright clothing, fancy jewelry, and most of all, her dimmed eyes. It was painfully obvious to anyone who looked that Itotia was an outcast, someone who had left the island ages ago.
That is why, she assumed, many attempted to avoid her at all cost. Frowning deeply at any who looked, the dancer moved through the crowds and kept her eyes low. It was astounding, the greeting she was getting. It seemed as if she was less welcome at her home than back in Oba, despite the reality of how she got there. Maybe this was a mistake, a cruel mistake to reminder her how far she had fallen.
Maybe she should have just stayed back in Oba.
Itotia's lips curled down, and she made her way through the crowds.

Pajore: The Sanctum
No one knew what was going on within the Sanctum, however the masses slowly moved closer to the doors as the sun began to sink across the sky. They knew it was getting close to time, and that the High Priest would soon speak. This was a rare occasion, as the High Priest and Priestess often encouraged their sub-priests to assist with the day-to-day activities. To hear him speak out to their tribes was a great honor and one they knew would help them in the year to come.
Suddenly, a crack from the door was all it took to raise whispers up in the crowd. It was beginning, and the doors fully opened to lead a series of priests and priestess out and down the steps a few feet. They lined up, waiting patiently with a soft smile as first, the High Priestess appeared in all her glory. When she too stilled, they all knew it was time for the Priest to make his appearance.
[ The next NPC post will begin the grand speech. ]

VAENA Post 4
Vaena nodded her head at his answer, and couldn't help but continue to prod. "Oh? Has it been a while since you've seen her then?" She was making an assumption, but the way that he was walking through the crowd didn't really look like he was looking for someone who lived with him and he saw all the time.
She shrugged her shoulders again as she saw the door to the temples crack open. "Oh, look. It's finally starting. Get this show on the road finally." She smarted off, spinning a finger in the air. The crowd around them hushed down and she felt her ears perk. It was a long shot, but her sister could be here this time too, right? Not that she put much stock in that. She hadn't seen her in so long, and she was never one of the trophy priestesses they showed off at the pilgrimage. It made her a little sour about the whole thing, but she came to accept the facts, and didn't bother getting her hopes up, at least not often.Tangled Puppet Funny coincidence, Vaena's oldest sister was taken from her when Vaena was 4 lol

Jalase - post 4 Jalase rolled eyes shoulders, eyeing the young lady next to him carefully. She was being nosey, he knew that, but for some reason he wanted to answer her — wanted to talk about his sister he’d only just began to figure out (if that). “It’s been a couple of years since I last saw her — and met her for the first time. She was taken before I was bor…” He blinked, gaze flicking to the temple doors. And the woman’s words confirmed what he figured was already happening. As the priestesses and priests filed out of the door and took up their places, he scanned over each one, hoping to see his sister. His brows knit together when he didn’t see a familiar face — though he supposed he wasn’t completely surprised. She hadn’t mentioned being a very important priestess. In fact, Jalase really wasn’t sure what his sister did as a priestess in the first place. “Do you see your sister?” he asked, glancing back to the woman he’d been talking to.

VAENA Post 5
Vaena scanned the lineup one more time before pursing her lips and shaking her head. "Nope. Not that I thought I would though." She responded. She didn't really talk too much about her, but with the festival and everything it seemed like one of the only times it was appropriate. "All these years though and I still haven't so it's not really surprising at this point."
She watched as the procession came to a stop and the High Priestess took her place. It was time for the High Priest, so there weren't any more of them coming out. "What about you? You see yours anywhere?" He hadn't really clarified, but the way he spoke about her, Vaena was pretty sure that she was a priestess as well. Seems like a lot of long lost family showed up at the festivals just to see if they could catch a glimpse of the daughter/son/brother/ they had lost to the gods.

Kieran - 1
It was a strange feeling being home. Kieran surveyed the area with interest as he moved through the crowd. Out here he could easily shed his cloak and be himself, but as time progressed it was becoming more apparent that he was stuck between two worlds. Thankfully he hadn't been away for too long so that his traits were similar save for perhaps a darker tan to his skin due to the desert sun.
It seems I may have been a bit late. As he approached he noticed the crowd, but his attention was taken by the arrival of the priests and priestesses. What would this year be like? Honestly he had come back to his homeland mostly to grab something from his mother's journals, but this...this was also worth some interest as well.

Taijana - Post Three
With the sun dropping in the sky Taijana moved forward through the crowd, making sure to keep close to her newfound...friend? In all honesty she had no idea what to consider this new girl, but at the very least she wasn't alone. For that she was thankful.
Just for a moment her attention was divided between that of the arriving clergy and those of the bodies pressing in against her outside of the Sanctum. It was hard to see around them; so hard that the petite huntress had to stand on her tip toes just to look over the heads in front of her and when she did...
"Kieran!" Taijana attempted to shout, but stilled her voice. It would have been rude to yell out like that! So, she made out the best she could with really loud whispering, "Kieran! Psst!"
Once the High Priest stepped out Taijana stopped all attempts to chat with her old friend. She hung back, quiet as a wee little mammal, with her big doe eyes trained on the older man. What would he say this year? And more importantly...would it be a curse or a blessing?

Malta (Post 4) ~~~~~~~~~~Malta stayed as close as she could to Lenila as the pilgrimage continued, hoping to find other faces in the crowd that she knew so she could be surrounded and safe, just as she'd been before. More likely, it would be Lenila that saw them - she was better at things like that. Lennart. Lenila went by Lennart now, for the time being. She would have to remember to use that name. Finally, she - and the crowd - began to mill in front of the Sanctum itself. It was an impressive building, and it made her quaver, but as long as Len was there to protect her from the intimidating architecture, she was fine. And it was... Beautiful. Scary and beautiful. A lot of things were. She tensed as the doors began to open, seeking Len out and drawing closer. "They're coming out...!" she whispered anxiously, equal parts hopeful and terrified of whatever they would say. the only black uke Len can introduce or dump her with someone if she wants, I'm just moving them forward

Len || 4
Lenila stayed by Malta's side for quite some time as they progressed forward. She saw no reason not to, after all. The girl was her friend - former comrade at arms in the orphanage, even if that, by now was almost "once upon a time" ago. The girl still gave off the energy she always had. Good and kind and excitable.
Len's eyes, though, as per habit, moved all about the crowd, leery as always of everyone else. And more aware of Jalase than she had any immediate need to be. The boy wasn't especially important, but her eyes kept falling on him.
When the clack of the door sounded, however, her eyes immediately snapped there.

Jalase - 5 Jalase shook his head, brows knitting together as he sighed. “No, she wasn’t up there. Though, I really should have expected as much. If she’d been one of those types of priestesses, I’m sure I’d have seen her before now.” He ran a hand through hair, huffing out a breath as a piece of hair managed to escape his grasp and fall into his face. Jalase was almost tempted to excuse himself. He really didn’t care to hear what the priest had to talk about. All he’d been interested in was maybe catching a glance at his sister. But he stayed, he remained by this stranger’s side and kept his eyes locked onto the priest. “It’s hard to look away from him, don’t you think?”

Kieran- 2
His focus was on the movement of the crowd above him. Frowning, Kieran strained to attempt and see what was going on ahead of him. Yet, something tickled his ear and the male found himself turning around. "Hm?" Blinking, Kieran glanced around behind him.Who?
Oh!
"Tai?" The male grinned as he noticed her stepping back. I suppose it's quiet time now, right? Still, he sacrificed his almost prime position to skirt back into the crowd and towards where he had spotted his friend.

Pajore: The Sanctum
The gentle face of the High Priest looked out across the gathering, smiling softly to those who neared. It was a standard practice, the journey to the Sanctum was something everyone participated in. To see such a gathering made the High Priest happy, and so he easily moved to where he needed to stand and held up his hands asking for silence.
"Welcome, brothers and sisters. You have all come so far, and Lurin looks down upon you with fortune!"
His voice was soft as he spoke about their journey, about their strength and their perseverance against the mainlanders who appeared on their shore. He spoke of the need to stay together, to keep in the favor of the gods and keep away from the mainlanders who tried to sway them. That those who attempted to flee lost the protection and guidance from the gods.
"Yael will always be strong, for Lurin will never forsake us. He embraces us in his warmth, showing us the ways we need to keep moving forward. After three days, he shines upon us and thanks us for our dedication, and we must in turn continue to follow his light as he provides us with protection and harmony!"

Malta (Post 5) ~~~~~~~~~~
Malta drank up every word, seeking meaning - and hope - for herself in them. The words were inspirational, but she felt a deep unease.
The mainlanders will sway you from the path that is right - avoid them and do not listen to their words, for they are poison
But what of their beasts? Yisette dealt with foreigners and there was nothing to be done about that besides hide, but their beasts... the animals were so beautiful. So wonderful. Malta could not believe that they were anything more than innocents in this matter.
Did that mean they were swaying her from the path of redemption? The path that would make her no longer unlucky? The path that would make her desired? She didn't know what to do. Len wouldn't either, because Len was not a priest, not that any priest or priestess would dare speak to her. Her bad luck would be catching, especially to them.
Which meant that she'd have to figure it out on her own. She prayed for Lurin's guidance in that matter as the speech came to a close.

Len || 5
Lenila shifted her weight, listening with one ear as the priest went on – and on, and on. It took perseverance not to yawn, and unfortunately for the priest and the onlookers, Len wasn’t an especially perseverant sort. She yawned. It wasn’t that the speech wasn’t well-intended. Surely it was. But it was all content she had heard before in some form, and – like in the days of her childhood – the trip out and event as a whole was far more interesting for her due to the common people who attended rather than those select few that actually spoke. All things considered, she didn’t feel she had a great need for cautious words handed down to her by an old man. She knew how to take care of herself better than he did, and who didn’t know that the foreigners were dangerous? Surely no one was that misguided. So, as Malta remained entranced, Len’s eyes and attention wandered, and eventually fixated back on its previous subject: Jalase. He was still speaking with some unknown woman, but far be it from Len to consider more company reason enough to avoid a situation. Quite the opposite. Thus, when her patience for stillness met its limit, she spared a quick comment to Malta something to effect of, ‘I’ll find you later’ and slipped out into the masses and up behind her other familiar acquaintance. “Didn’t know you was back ‘round here again,” she greeted.
