"Hardly everyone," Shun replied dryly, "The vast majority of the population knows nothing about this, and to avoid looking like insane idiots, they are being kept out of it as much as possible. And yes. The dark and rainy one."

"Okay, keep things on the hush. I can do that." She had intended to anyways, but now that Shun had explicitly said to she felt better about it.
"I also wanted to know- if it's okay that is- America said the incident at the Blackfiars Library was supernaturally based. If that's true, what really happened?"

"There are those who are... either gifted or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with something similar to lycanthropy. If one such person is able to do the necessarily preparations, they are fine. If they are caught by surprise by this development, then they practically go rabid. There were several individuals who were unfortunate enough to not know of their state before it was too late," Shun explained.

"Werewolves?" June murmured, the idea having not occurred to her until now. She had been told by Shun it had been a furry (she had looked that up later and had been horrified by that discovery as well) but now it was beginning to make sense. Even if werewolvery was kind of an insane explanation.
"So ... what happened to the "rabid" ones?" She made air quotes around the word rabid. "Were they killed with silver bullets or something?"

"The only ones up there with guns were Mercer and I and I can assure you that neither of us fired, let alone have anything like silver bullets. They are not actual werewolves, anyway. But they were dragged back into the other realm and I have no clue where they have gone from there."
With exception of Michael. He was leaving that detail out for now. But he really did have no clue where the other six had gone.

Not actual werewolves? "What makes them different from werewolves then? You said gifted- can they control it then?"
June wasn't so sure she wanted to know.

"They are not all wolves for one," he recalled, "But I do not know that much of them over all. And they do not know everything either. As far as I know, they do not have any issues with silver."
It wasn't actually tested, but he had a feeling that was the case.

"That makes me feel so ... itchy. I'm going to be looking at everyone differently. At the store- is that person a werewolf?" She scrunched her nose a little at the image.
"So ... what do we do if another one goes rabid?" Even if she reported it, that didn't leave them much of a game plan. If there was one thing June was good at, it was planning.

Shun placed a hand over his face and closed his eyes.
"There are just a handful of them. If you are going to be paranoid about this sort of thing or start acting weird around people, then I will not tell you anything further. But if you encounter one that has gone mad, contact one of us immediately. We can reach out to those who may be able to subdue them more easily. If you can trap them in a location, do so, but they will most likely try to kill you."

"I meant I would think it!" she said with a slight laugh. June could barely find the nerve to order her coffee from Starbucks sometimes, let alone bother strangers in public.
"And they won't try to kill you because ...?" He made it sound like they had a special immunity of some kind. Maybe silver skin. It was probably that.

"No. They will try to kill me as well. Or anyone who gets too close really. But from what I know, the others of their kind can potentially calm them down."

Well that was a relief. At least there was some way to keep them from causing more Blackfriars incidents.
"Well at least I can count on you and Mercer to keep us all safe!" she chimed in thoughtfully. She perhaps thought too highly of both officers now that she knew they faced a werewolf before and had magic powers. "At least it's more exciting than my old job." She gave a nervous laugh after that, not really sure how to say "this is actually very scary but I'm keeping it together as best I can" without sounding like a total wimp.

"Do not be so naive. It is not excitement so much as it is dangerous," Shun scoffed, shaking his head to himself.

June thought it best not to argue with the guy who put himself in a dangerous position far more than she ever would behind the desk. It still was a teensy bit exciting. She'd never been much into nerdy things so to speak, but the idea of magic was still entrancing to say the least. Even more fun that it seemed to be one big secret- it was always fun to be in on secrets.
"Ah, yes sir, sorry," she said, nodding slowly. "But I won't do anything without telling you two." She began tapping a pen against his desk. "At least I can better help with the cover ups now ... but we really should have a plan for this kind of affair."

Shun rubbed his forehead a bit.
"You could try asking Mercer about that. He may have more ideas. I hardly talk to anyone in the first place."
