 Relief. Relief washed over him. He knew that Des had handed the power to him, but for a second he had feared that, perhaps, Deskri was about to withdraw. About to call it quits. But that wasn't happening. Neither wanted that. Neither of them wanted to go back to days without the other, or times when things seemed easier just being alone. That wasn't the case. Now that he had had Deskri, he couldn't go back to not having him.
His hand tightened around Des', not minding the almost numbing sensation within it. It was a reminder Des was right there. Right where he needed to be. Sirius shifted when Des leaned into him, allowing his tail to gently wrap around Deskri. He was right here, with Sirius. He could have chosen to be anywhere else. Fate could have taken Deskri down a different path, but instead he was right here, curled against Sirius as if he belonged there. Not if; he did. He always had belonged there.
"Thank you for telling me." That was the truth, he was grateful. Deskri had shown something he was sure he didn't give to others. Sirius was given the chance to help him, and he was genuinely happy to take it. Deskri wasn't going to be alone in this anymore.
"I love you." He murmured, pressing close to give Deskri a gentle kiss on the shoulder. Deskri was safe, and now that Sirius knew he was going to do everything in his power to make sure Des felt that way.

"I love you too." He managed to croak out despite trying to calm himself down- he didn't want to cry but oh... this was so hard, and it had turned out so much better than he'd allowed himself to think it would. This wasn't the end- they could keep going. He didn't know if he had it in him to ask the original question he'd wanted to - the timing was probably wrong at this very moment.. But honestly, he wanted nothing more than to stay this way forever. Sirius was home to him now- life felt oddly empty when he wasn't around and Deskri was not sure he could go back to not having him in it.
Eventually he shifted a little to move into Sirius's lap- a favorite spot for him to sit when he was feeling cuddly. Thankfully Sirius also seemed to have an affection for cuddling. "...Thank you for being understanding... I was... scared.. that you'd change your mind about this..."

Sirius couldn't help smile at the returned affection, using his hands to guide Deskri into his lap, arms wrapping loosely around Des. If affection was what Des wanted, ******** would he give it.
Of course, he decided the ruin the moment by blabbering, his mouth always five seconds faster then his brain.
"Why would I change my mind? I already decided-"
ABORT.
His mouth shut, even making a clicking sound as he reeled back slightly, skin raising in temperature. Oh gods. Oh ********. Quick. Divert attention. ******** get out of this right now.
"You're sleeping over tonight, right?" Nailed it.

Already decided... that he was sleeping over?
He rubbed at his eyes, sniffing once more before lying his head against Sirius's chest. He felt... sluggish, but Sirius's odd behavior hadn't escaped his attention. "...We'd already discussed that..." He commented, thinking about what else Sirius could have decided on... "Last week, we said I'd sleep over... But sleepovers get canceled all the time, we've had to before." He frowned slightly, tail flicking lazily as he thought.
"...You decided something else didn't you?"

Ohhhhh s**t. Oh ********. Deskri had picked up on it. ******** hell, of course Des chose this exact moment to be psychic. ********. Suddenly, nerves hit him. Was this the right time? Probably not! Probably the worst timing ever! Quick, find something!
"That I like avocado." <********' eyes widened at his own "realization", but he went with it. Yup. Avocado's! That was what he decided! That was what kept them together; vegetables! Or was it a fruit.... ********....

That... he liked avocado...?
Des's brows knit together in confusion as he tried to figure out what that could possibly mean. "...Sirius." He frowned, speaking slowly. "What... does avocado have to do with you not dumping me...?" He really couldn't understand it- or... make any sort of vague connection between avocado and the state of their relationship. He didn't even like avocado.

Sirius just stared at Des, in full panic mode. This ******** sucked. This was not fun. How the hell was he going to tie in avocado's with their relationship? Did he even want to try? Now, he wasn't the smartest at times, but he saw that this was a bad idea a mile away.
"I-" Don't even try, Sirius! This was a bad idea! "Just.... like.... them?"
Okay he needed to stop right now. His words weren't working, he ******** knew it, so his hands reached into his pocket, having to shift Des slightly. He pulled out an object, holding it in one hand as he held his face with the other, cheeks heating a vibrant blue as he uncurled his fingers to expose the small metal object.
"I didn't think.... you'd like a diamond, so..."

Alright... He seemed to figure out that he wasn't making any sense. He closed his eyes for a moment, waiting to hear what sort of excuse he'd come up with... but an excuse didn't come. He opened his eyes as he was shifted, perking just slightly with curiosity. He blinked, staring at the ring in his open hand - mind going completely blank.
"I didn't think.... you'd like a diamond, so..."
The gears took a few moments to start turning in his head again. A ring. Didn't think he'd like a diamond? A ring. A diamond. But no actual diamond.
He blinked a few times, then slowly shifted to look up at Sirius, eyes wide and round in an expression of surprise. "Is... Is that..." He couldn't bring himself to say the word- it was too good to be true.

Silence. It was frightening. He almost considered throwing the ring and claiming it was a joke, but he stayed there, holding it out like a fool as he awaited laughter. This was ridiculous. Of all the times and all the days, why now? And right after he fumbled and blurted bullshit about avocados. No one was going to take him seriously at this point.
Des shifted and Sirius spread the fingers of the hand over his face, a green eye peeking out and locking eye contact with Des. The expression of surprise was... rewarding, at least. It wasn't laughter, and that was a plus.
"A ring." He mumbled softly, the exposed eye flicking away nervously. "Wanted to ask you... I- I want to asked you if... you wanted to do the thing..." Mmmm, very good. His words were excellent.
"If you wanted to... marry..... me...." His eyes squeezed shut, a nervous shiver rushing through him as he cringed into himself slightly, the hand holding the ring shaking. Oh god. This was one of the most vulnerable moments of his ******** life. What if Des said no? What if this scared him? What if this ruined everything?
What if he was confusing everything?

He looked so nervous, clearly this was a Big Thing he'd been planning. He glanced over to the ring, still focused entirely on what Sirius was saying, though. He wanted to ask if he wanted to.... do the thing. What thing? Thankfully he didn't have to wait long to find out--
His eyes snapped back to Sirius's face as his own filled with heat. Marry?? Him?? Sirius was going to-- oh. Oh. He reached out to place his hand over the ring in Sirius's, then leaned in to gently press his lips against the other man's for a brief moment.
He pulled away, remaining quiet for a few seconds before speaking. "I... was going to... ask the same thing. Eventually." He squeezed his hand around Sirius's, chewing his lip for a moment. "...I didn't get a ring, though... I don't uh.. know how ring sizing works- I just.. um... h-hold on."
He released his hand, then slid off of Sirius's lap to go back to his bag. He fished out the locket, then came back over to sit down (again in his lap) before holding it out for him to take. "...Its kind of lame, I know.."

Sirius' head raised, just in time for Des to lean in and give a gentle kiss. This wasn't a refusal. Des wasn't horrified. He didn't take the ring, not yet, instead mentioning that..... He was going to ask about the same thing? His tendrils skipped, watching his boyfriend get up and wander to his bag before returning with a locket. Normally, Sirius didn't wear jewelry, but the second it was offered to him he reached out to accept the locket, head shaking.
"It's not!" He chirped, carefully palming the ring as he slipped the locket on. He looked absolutely thrilled, cheeks a bright blue and tail twitching happily. He directed his attention to Des, reaching out to take Des' hand. "Does that mean...?" He didn't place the ring on, not yet, instead holding Des' hand gently, eyes on him with hesitance. He didn't want to assume, the words hadn't been uttered that 100% confirmed it, but his mouth held a sly, restrained smile.

Des watched as he put the locket on, pleased that he liked the item even if it was kind of dumb in comparison to a ring - despite Sirius insisting that it wasn't. "I uh... put something inside." He allowed Sirius to take his hand, then... nodded slowly at the question, nerves humming to life with... excitement? Happiness? Such a huge shift from what he was feeling earlier that he honestly felt dizzy. "Y-yes."

He had? Carefully, he pried the locket open, revealing a personalized abstract painting. Deskri made art, that was his calling, and he had made Sirius.... special.... one of a kind art just for him. Now, Sirius wasn't a crying kind of man, but the tears forming in his eyes? Those were real.
So real.
"T-thank you." He gasped, leaning forward to give Des a quick kiss as he slid the ring onto Deskri's finger. A short and joyful laugh escaped him, body pressing lightly into Des' as he peppered kisses on the smaller mans cheek and jaw. Engaged. They were engaged. Deskri wanted to be with him, forever. Sirius did, too, even after what he had learned. They were going to be together. Get married. Stay together.
"I love my locket, fiancee." Oh man, he was pushing it, but he just wanted to say the word out loud!

He closed his hand into a loose fist, securing the ring in place once it was on. This was real, right? Not some extremely believable hallucination? He couldn't help but smile - really smile - as Sirius peppered him with kisses and affection. He did his best to return each one, though he was still reeling from the reality of the situation. He shifted to wrap his arms around Sirius's neck, pulling himself as close as he possibly could as he nuzzled up against his head.
"I love my ring, f-fiancee." Gods that felt so weird to say- weird but... good. This was really too good to be true.

Sirius was always one for the affection, snuggling into Des and wrapping his arms around Deskri's hips in acceptance. This was good! This was right! Sirius locked his fingers together, tendrils fluttering softly.
He said it back!!
Sirius laughed, tail curling gently around Des' as he tugged Des back for another kiss. This was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Sure, the evening had started a little frightening (he almost thought Des was saying goodbye for deities sake!), but now here he was, cuddling his fiancee. Aaaah s**t, what a ******** whirlwind of emotions.
"So, I'm ********' starving, and I have brownies to make. You in?" What better way to celebrate then brownies?
