Another exhale. Jack leaned back against the couch.
"You want me to bring something over?"

"I could go for some food. You wanna get a burger or something?"

And in just as many minutes he was there, his car parked on the street, sunglasses on; it was a little too bright outside for his tastes.
"I'll let you pick," he said once he was let in, assessing Chel from the anonymity of his shades.

Chel looked ... as good as she could.
The scrapes along her face and arms were what stuck out firstly, but her injury was more noticeable by the way she sagged and slightly cradled her side. Every once in a while she would wince like something was piercing her side and then it would fade into her usual blithe smile.
She got in his car and said, "Whatever's closest and cheap. Seven Eleven don't pay five star."

He didn't stop her from getting in because there was no point, she was too stubborn. But Chel's money was stiffly refused once they had settled on a place to drive through; the bags of food were simply plopped on her lap.
"You look like s**t," he finally said as he turned them back towards her place.

Chel had already begun digging through the bag to eat some of the fries before they got home.

He couldn't help but scoff, one side of his lips tugging up. Car crash or not, Chel was still Chel. "Never going to understand how someone with your makeup skills can't even dress herself," he said as he turned, her house coming into view.

She raised an eyebrow at the backhanded compliment, but said nothing on the matter lest she appear like she was fishing for attention.
Instead she focused on the fact that they were approaching Chris' apartment with a bag full of food. "You know f'we go in there Chris' gonna be pissed I didn't bring him some." Had she been spending her own money she would have gotten him something, but since it was Jack's she hadn't wanted to spend his.
