Aspara felt much pride in herself: she was doing relatively well for her first date ever, considering Owen was asking for contact information and wasn't attempting to make some silly excuse to get away. She was grateful, considering she hadn't been able to stop smiling since he'd invited her on the impromptu date. Even now, she felt butterflies in her belly as he explained that he kept the letters sent to him. Part of her wondered, dare even hoped, that if she wrote to him they would join the numbers. Oh, she shouldn't be thinking silly thoughts like that, they'd only just met! Be realistic, Aspara!
"May I please have a glass of the Iced Spiced Tea with a splash of cream in it?" She gave the waitress a bright smile, then turned back to Owen to see him fishing out a note book to write on a page and pass it to her. Oh wow, he had such nice handwriting.
"So mysterious, your job. It must do well with the ladies, that air of mystery." she teased him lightly as she picked up the pen and pulled the notebook closer. She wrote down her own fully name, the address she had at the school dorms, and finally her own number. closing the notebook, she slid it back to him. "There, that should do it. I'm usually here on campus, unless there's a field trip of some sort or it's a family event."
She took the piece of paper with his information and folded it in half, then slid it into her bag into the pages of her textbook for safe keeping. "Well, you've learned a little about Nixie. Tell me a bit about the culture of Imps?"

Aspara even seemed to have a good taste in drinks, Owen certain had to approve of the delicious sounding tea she had ordered. His tail curled around his chair, in an attempt to keep it front wiggling around happily. He was a little worried he might scare the lovely Nixie away if he seemed to excited. He did laugh a bit at the mention of his mysterious job. He would love more than anything to be able to tell people about his work. Oh the real stories that he could tell.
"I wish I could be less mysterious about it. It's...hard honestly. But it is very rewarding in the long run. It's my own curiosity that got me stuck in it anyway." It was basically join or...well, worst case scenario die once he found out about it. He liked to think that it wouldn't have come to that, but he did think of the people he worked with as heroes. Somehow it had all worked out in the end at least. He picked up the notebook once it was slid back across the table and inspected the delicate handwriting within. It wouldn't take him long to have that memorized...
His ears perked up when she asked about Imps. Well, he didn't have the typical Imp family in a lot of ways, but at least he knew a lot about his culture. "The most important thing to know about Imps is that we're an extremely affectionate race. We also tend to be....hoarders. I do tend to save a lot of things; pictures, letters, and various trinkets. Oh, and a there are a lot of big families called Cartels. They're not officially in charge...but they can have a big influence regardless." Her dug around in one of his pockets, looking for his wallet then. It was really sort of comical how big it was when he pulled it out. But it wasn't full of money, oh no he had a lot of pictures stuck in there.
"But I'm not really in your typical Imp family. Wanna see some pictures?" He loved nothing more than showing off pictures of his family! And it had been even longer since he'd shown them off to someone who had never seen them before!

It was taking Aspara everything to keep from her ear frills from wiggling hard core. She didn't want him to think she was nearly as excited as she very obviously was. She... hadn't expected to like someone as quickly as she was growing to like him.
"I don't mind that you can't talk much about it. I think it's really brave that you do that work to begin with." She felt her cheeks grow warm again and she nervously twirled a small section of her hair. She immediately perked up as he began telling her things about the Imps, and it was obvious she was hanging onto his every word.
The second he started pulling out photos she was immediately shifting her seat to sit next to him. "Oh yes! Please show me!" She glanced up as the waitress arrived with their drinks and thanked her as she picked up the drink. "Oh oh, who's that?" she asked as she pointed to one of the pictures.

Someone had to do the kind of work he was doing. In a way it was sort of unfortunate that the whole point of his job was to make sure a certain member of his own team didn't go berserk, but he'd rather do it than someone who couldn't control their temper. There were days he thought of quitting, taking on some kind of curse so he couldn't talk about it anymore. He could get a comfortable desk job after all of his other work. That would be nice...but he was still young. He could still work hard and so he kept to it. He just smiled at her praise for the time being.
He scooted a bit closer to her as well, happy to have closed the space between them. The waitress came by to drop of their drinks then. While she was there he figured they might as well order their food as well. "Are you ready to order Aspara?" he waited for her confirmation before giving the waitress his own order, he was feeling a large bowl of potato soup, to come out when Aspara's food was ready as well. He waited for Aspara to order next and the waitress to leave before flipping through his pictures.
"This one is of me and Daniel! The resemblance is insane right? he always insisted on the glasses, but I wear contacts. And this one is me with both of my brothers. Tom is younger than us by around 8 years, but he still got taller than us both. He's a police officer! And this one is my little sister and my Mom! They took this picture the day my Mom went to adopt her! My mom had empty house syndrome pretty bad. Haha. These are my parents..." There were a lot of other picture, some with him and other family members, some with friends from work. It was obvious they were all treasured though.

"Ah, yes, I think I'm ready to order." Aspara smiled to Owen, then waited for her turn to order. "Can I have that walnut apple salad?" There was always something about those sweet apples and glazed walnuts she couldn't say no to, plus she knew she'd need to leave in the next half hour if she was going to make it to class so having food that wasn't needing much prep would be good.
Her attention was turned back to the photos, loving each and every glimps into his life. She hung onto every word of each story, pointing at individuals and asking questions about what they'd seen, where they'd been, and what they'd done. Their food came, and she shifted herself back to sitting across from him, still asking questions, and then telling stories of her own family life as. She wished she'd had pictures to show him as well.
As they finished eating, glance to the clock on the wall in the restaurant stopped her in mid sentence. "Oh no, I'm going to be late! I'm so sorry to do this!" She lept from her chair and quickly slung her bag over her shoulder. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if this would be too forward, then decided that with how large the campus was he could easily avoid her if he wanted to. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as she leaned over the table and gave him a quick kiss. "Thank you for our date." She smiled brightly, then turned and left, breaking into a jog as soon as she was out on the street.

Aspara seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say which was very exciting for him. He loved nothing more than talking about and praising his family and friends. It was nice to be talking about them to non-deaf ears for a change. Not that he blamed his comrades. He only had so many stories to tell and they all had too much time to share during long missions. And unfortunately many of them weren't the sharing types to begin with, which means he ended up talking a lot...
They continued to share stories as they ate their meals from across the table again. He found her life to be just as interesting as his own, albeit in a completely different way than his own. He honestly enjoyed himself and the end came way too soon, but he had known their time was limited for now, he couldn't ask her to miss class for him, an Imp she had just met today.
"No problem! May we do it again sometime soon." He smiled and waved her off. When the waitress came back around he paid their bill and he left with a skip in his step. He couldn't wait for Dan to be done with classes so he could tell him all about the girl he had met that day!
