Ahhh.... the Mozart effect. I find Mozart a little formulaic and boring. The other composers have a lot more to offer in my opinion.
I tend to agree, though his operas and clarinet concerto are fairly decent. I'm not a big fan of baroque or classical in general. Anything before 1600 and after 1800 is the best, really. Polyphony is greatly under-appriciated, as is most contemporary music. And to all of those who thing that
classical music is boring, I implore you to watch this!

As for my favorites: Dvorak, Bela Bartok, Zoltan Kodaly, John Coleridge Adams, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rachmoninov, Sibelius, Debussy, Faure, Steve Reich, Puccini, Copland, Samuel Barber, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, Brahms, Mahler, Stravinsky, Shostikovich, Rimsky-Korsokov, Bizet, Chopin, Benjamin Britten, Ralph Vaughn-Williams.
Another question: Does anyone have a favorite conductor?
Mine is Marin Alsop... the woman is brilliant with a baton!
