Custom blades... "I would be honored to inspect them - who made them, may I ask?" She held out her hands to recieve them. She was always happy to inspect another's work. It was partially professional admiration, and partially learning from their work. "I see." she said. So the girl before her was blue skinned with green markings (speckles?) and a little on the short side. Fair enough. Height was variety, and variety was beautiful - it was also a handy way to tell her sisters apart, at times. If Aisha had given this young woman a shorter stature, then Aisha had her reasons and she was sure that she was beautiful. "All right. Another time, perhaps." She whistled to Peyla, who dipped in disappointment before putting the shiny stones away. She stated the price - in coin, since she was abroad. She'd worked with her sisters to set up the prices, as well as the discounts for sisters. And, in this case, an extra discount for hybrids - they had to deal with so much already, after all. Perhaps not these as much, though. Idly, she wondered how the Matorians felt about the hybrids in their midst, but from the sound of things, life had been good. Good. "Aisha is our Mother. She is a goddess in the form of a great and beautiful tree, guiding us with wisdom and love and grants children to parents she deems worthy - like your own." she smiled. Of course, in Dyakida's case, she had been brought forth through of Aisha's own voilition, but her parents had always told her that she was the answer to the plea they never made. "Her roots run deep under the isles - and even into Jauhar, where she cleanses the land and brings life to it. Her branches are vast and her leaves grow thick and deep purple - but sunlight still shines through, in spears of golden light... and there is a glow all around her..." her voice was wistful as she spoke. She missed being able to see Her. "She is... beautiful."

Seeing that Dyakida held out her hands she made sure to place the blade gently within her grasp. To make sure that her sister would know which side was the sharpened one she pressed the flat edge toward the butt of her palm. That meant the sharp end was at her fingertips. "I had them made by a weapons smith in Matori. Sirap." The man had taken time to construct exactly what she had wanted.
When her daughter asked about Aisha Dem instantly felt as though she had failed her child. Did she not explain about their Great Mother in enough detail? Was there something lacking in her description? V'demhe wasn't sure. However, she was pleased to at least see that her daughter was interested in learning more about her Alkidike side. Up until recently she had only really focused on the earthling side of things to make sure that it was full understood that they were not less than the Alks.
When Dyakida finished her description Dem could sense the longing. "Sister... how long has it been since you have seen our Mother?" The way she spoke told V'demhe that she had once been able to see clearly. Or at least that was what she got from it all. Details like what she described didn't come from someone else telling them, it was witnessed first hand.

Masika felt bad that she'd not given the little thing something to do to feel proud of. "I'm sorry, maybe when I need a new set I'll come find you." There was a nod of her head as she hoped that the creatures spirits would lift. Then began the telling of Aisha and she was captivated. While there were trees in Matori, and even some in Oba, none of them sounded as beautiful or as impressive as Aisha. To know that the root system alone was massive made her wonder if perhaps another tree was from the same roots. If that could at all happen. Her mother's mother cleansed the land. Brought it life. Leaves of a deep purple were tempting and paired up with golden spears of light made it irresistible. "I would love to see her some day. Everything you have said..." Masika was at a loss for words. The description closely matched what her mother had told her but this one just had that something extra. That emotion. "I want to see that beauty." Turning to look at her mother she gave a slightly pleading look.

Sirap... She would try to remember the name. A reason to visit Matori. she thought. Or, well, another reason besides the soft sand beaches and balmy weather. It was starting to look like one day she would have to go. Peyla didn't understand the words, but she did understand that the nice blue alkidike was being really nice to her and was trying to make her not sad. She didn't want the pretty lady to be sad, too, because that was mean, so she put on her bravest tiny sprite face and chimed. She was still a little put out that she couldn't be more helpful, though. "I was there at last year's festival." she said, automatically, and then she realized. See. As in sight. Right. "... But I have not been able to see those things for... a long time now." She had to think back - how long had it been since she'd lost that sense? Was it, truly, any of this Sister's business? "Years. Many years."It was not a subject she liked to speak of, even now that she was at peace with it. She inspected the blades, impressed with their craftsmanship. Yes. Definitely someone to visit. They were fine, slightly different than those in the Alkidike style but not by much. Certainly, not precisely in any earthling style she had experienced. Very likely, that was the custom aspect, unless the Matorian styles of dual bladecraft were similar to the Alkidikes. "What do the blades look like?" she asked, curious.

Her smile was turned on her daughter, though it was a soft one. V'demhe wasn't so sure speaking of beauty in such a way was best since the sister before them couldn't see it. Still, her head gave a nod and she watched Masika's face light up. It seemed she would need to make a trip to Chibale sometime in the future. And here she had already promised to escort her son to Zena. Ah well, the exercise would do her good.
When Dyakida asked what the blades looked like she gave her attention back to the woman and thought about how she would be able to give an adequate description. So she reached out to take Dya's hands in hers so that she could guide them. Dem started at the handle. "There are some decorations hanging off the ends. Mostly some beads and a bit of fringe. The beads are a deep red." From the very end she guided the woman's fingers over the debits in the grip. "I wanted a touch of home in the handle so I asked for some vines and leaves to be etched into it. The main color is white pearl but the etching is a soft green." Since the guard was nothing special she didn't spare any words for it. Instead she went on the blade.
Making sure that Dyakida's fingers only touched the back of the blade. "The metal of the blade is Damascus and it too has etching into it. A tree." If it wasn't obvious by now there was a pattern to her weapons. She missed home. "The back arcs from the hilt then surges forward. The hook is there to cause more damage when it's pulled free." Dem intended her blades to be sharp and to penetrate clear to the guard.
"The edge has some arcs as well. Something akin to an over sized serrated blade but it is only near the tip." As she said all of this and guided her sister's hands she was viewing her weapons with pride. When her hands finally came away from Dya's she took a breath. "It was all as I requested. Sirap truly did a wonderful job in putting up with my demands."

She was delighted when her mother nodded her head and it showed on her face when she grinned from ear to ear. Then as her mother went into describing her blades Masika lost interest. Mostly because she wasn't a hands on fighter. However, she wasn't rude so she stayed and listened. The way her mother spoke about her weapons made her realize just how fearsome the woman could be. Despite the blades being very pretty to look at there were details about it that screamed deadly. It was odd for her to see a dangerous side of her mother. Sure, she knew it existed but.. Her mother had finished and said something about the man that had made the blades and she had to giggle. "He was probably afraid of you, Muma."

"It's beautiful." Dyakida said. The metal held the etchings well, and she could tell that it was sharp and well weighted. It told her something about this Sister, too - though she had half-water children and lived far from Chibale, and though her weapon was not made by Alkidike hands, she still carried something of her homeland and their mother with her in her heart and in her hands. She wished she could work with metal, but without a trainer to show her the way - and without sight - she dared not risk her precious hands. Dyakida chuckled. "It happens." she chuckled, "We are larger than the earthlings are, after all." and more imposing. And stronger. And very intense. Dyakida would not be surprised if earthlings were intimidated. Not at all. "From the feel of these, though, he respected you and wanted you to be fearsome. These are fine blades." she gestured to V'demhe to take them back and return them to their sheaths. "I'd like to meet this Sirap..." she smirked wryly, "If he is not too afraid of me to talk about weapons, that is."

Hearing what her daughter said she couldn't help but give the girl a look. Dem wasn't usually intimidating unless she wanted to be. Otherwise she tried to be as friendly to earthlings as she could. Though some truly didn't deserve it.
With Dyakida motioning for her to take her blades back she did so and put them safely away. "Oh, certainly. He might be a little intimidated to meet an Alkidike that makes weapons though." V'demhe laughed a little.

Masika giggled at Dya's answer. "Well that's true." Though she wasn't so sure that it was her mother's height that had done it. When her mother wanted something her demands came out grumpy like. With the woman saying that she wanted to meet the man that made her mother's blades she grinned. That would be something to see! Then again, Masika hadn't met the man yet herself. (( OMG I'm sorry for short crappy posts. ))

"If he is intimidated by me," she contemplated one of two answers "Then perhaps he shouldn't work for warriors." she chuckled. "Ah, so the blades. I take coin or goods, either works for me." she said, returning to the business at hand. She named a price, fully expecting to haggle. "They should serve her well, though obviously you will want something more customized for battle when she's older."

A smirk played at her lips and made her lip ring glint in the light. "I suppose you are right. Though I think it would be more the fact that you create such amazing weapons without your sight and he relies so heavily on his." Who wouldn't be intimidated by that? Someone who lacked a crucial sense could be better than someone who had it. If that didn't intimidate someone then they were truly the baddest of people.
With the price of the blades being stated she didn't bother trying to haggle. Had Dya been an earthling vendor she might have but there was a certain level of respect V'demhe had for her own. So she handed over the coin that had become common place for her to carry. "Here you go. And thank you. When my other daughter is ready for another set I shall eek you out."

Masika giggled and waited for her mother to hand over the coin that was needed to pay for the blades they had bought for her sister. Once that was done she held them close. She heard her mother say that she would seek the woman out for when Galene needed new blades and thought that was a good idea. "Maybe I can find you when I need new runes." She chimed in. Of course she would need to make sure that the woman wasn't hiding away on the island where Aisha herself resided. The hybrid didn't think she would be welcomed there since she was not taking the Alkidike path in life.

An interesting thought, though Dyakida tried not to boast about her skill like that. It was something to be proud of, but also not. Dyakida checked the payment with her fingers, eyebrows raising in some concern. This was more than she'd actually wanted to get. She couldn't exactly tell them that she'd overcharged a little bit out of habit, so she'd just have to remember for next time and lowball her prices to even the scales. Or just give the girl her new runes for free when the time came, like she did with many hybrids born of Aisha. Concience salved, she smiled. "Seek me out in Andile when you are ready - that is in Jauhar." she added, in case it wasn't clear.
