Moving to grab the font samples from behind the counter, Naz wasn't really expecting any personal questions at this point but rolled with it. "I'm from Denmark! Tiny country in Scandinavia - we don't have a lot of people but we make up for it by being smug assholes," she grinned at him, getting out the laminated sample page from a drawer and holding it out towards him. "We have a pretty good selection - even comic sans, if that's your thing," she winked at him, "but also a few classier fonts and some simple ones."

"Heh- no comic sans." Wil smiled wider at that and rubbed his eyes a moment before pushing his curls from his eyes to get a look at what she was getting out. "Denmark is like the happiest place ever right?" Wil's brows lifted, "But weed's still illegal.. " He noted aloud. Why did he know every country's marijuana laws? "Why did you come here? It's pretty uh-" he was going to say BORING but after recent events, sort of stumbled on it, "-you know. College town America."

"If you believe the polls, I guess. And if you happen to like islamophobic racists, sure, we're pretty great," she quirked a sarcastic grin. "Weed's illegal yeah, but we've got free healthcare which is in understatement quite nice, so there's that at least. All in all I'd call it a mixed bag." Snorting, his words brought a brighter grin on her face as she shifted on her feet and put a relaxed hand on her hip, "hey, when you're from Europe 'college town America' is ~exotic~, okay?" Shaking her head, she continued slightly more seriously; "nah, I just needed a change of scenery and my aunt owns this store, so this seemed about as good a place as anywhere. Plus you know, I already spoke English so no need to learn a whole new language or anything like that. And you? Here for college like Nasir, or are you a lifetimer?"

Wil made a grimacey face at the racist part. At least Ashdown wasn't like that- at least not as he'd experienced. "College. I fell asleep in freshman orientation first year and Nasir was nice enough to wake me up." He scratched his head a bit with a smile, "Mostly because everyone had met their new room mates and left the assembly and I was the only person left- because I was his room mate." Wil went back to the fonts a moment, pointing out one of the plainer, block letter type fonts, "But since we just graduated I guess we're staying put for a while. Nasir has his job and I'm trying to go for more school." Mostly because he was delaying working as long as possible.

Naz gave a dreamy sigh, "that's so sweet! Well, sweet and fate, yeah?" It was always lovely to hear stories of how people met and connected, the little threads of fate that tied them together. "Ashdown doesn't seem the worst town to stay in for a while, I think. Been very nice and welcoming for me, at least so far - reckon you could do a lot worse, on the whole." Nodding at his choice of font, she took back the sampler and went to write down the specifics of his order, "and what would you like the engraving to say?"

"Yeah it's nice here." Or he wouldn't stay past school. Even with the house, there were houses everywhere. Maybe one day he'd travel. Nasir and he had always talked about it. "Let me write it down.." Wil nodded and rubbed his stained fingers together idly. It would probably seem weird, but those sorts of things were personal and Nasir would get it. After grabbing a pen Wil scribbled it down and passed it over. "You believe in fate?" Wil's brows lifted, kind of amused, "You should let me read your palm, or do some cards or runes for you sometime." ephebe keeping the message/engraving a mystery for now ;D

Naz attached the inscription to the order specifics, only cursorily checking it over to make sure it didn't exceed the letter limit. "You'll need to make a deposit, half the cost of the rings - plus engravings - upfront and then it'll be settled. You can pick up your order in three days," she finished with a smile. "Now you're making me feel a bit silly," even if that were true, there was still a grin on her face as she said it. "I believe.. you make your own fate, but that's still fate. There's fate in choices but they're still all yours?" She looked puzzled at her own explanation for a second before she sighed and waved a hand in the air, "hell, it doesn't even make sense to myself. But palm reading and such," the smile came back to her face, "that actually sounds kind of fun! It can never hurt to give it a go, right? Never tried anything like it before, honestly - you'll have the honour of being my first," she ended with a saucy wink.

"I'll be gentle," Wil teased, albeit in his detached, slow sort of manner. He smiled lightly, "And you've got to believe or none of it works." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a slightly impressive roll of cash. Whatever he was doing, he certainly wasn't as much of a starving artist as he appeared. He was counting out what had been laid down as his deposit amount before stashing the cash away again. "I also do magic 8-ball readings." Which no one ever took as seriously as he did.

She laughed, pleased that he was so affable. "That's a handy disclaimer!" Taking the cash, she rung up his purchase and prepared the voucher he'd need upon picking up the order. "And that's it," she said, handing over the voucher with a smile. "Isn't that like... something you can do yourself? Sorry, I'm not very familiar with magic 8-balls - never really caught on in Denmark."

"Well yeah-" Wil scratched his stubbled cheek with a finger, "-if you have one. But you said you don't have one." He grinned, "You'd be surprised how many people wouldn't mind sparing a dollar to know if they'll land their job interview according to the magic 8-ball." It was fun, wistful, something that made people feel silly and fun, and not nearly as spooky as a tarot card experience or tossing runes. "Besides, it's all about delivery." Wil accepted his receipt and voucher and folded them to stick inside a small bag inside his backpack pocket.

"Hmm, true! I guess I'll have to try it out sometime - you never know, I might end up an addict," she smiled and absentmindedly tapped her fingers on the counter. "Anyway, thanks for your business - you've been an exemplary first customer for me, that's for sure! And it's been great to meet you, I really hope you guys will be happy with the rings. It's going to be a fantastic anniversary gift, definitely." iloveyouDIE bless you for remembering that there should be a receipt when I didn't ksgksghkjsfgh

Exemplary customer? He'd never been called exemplary before. Wil smiled again. "Thanks for your help. I'm usually around-" He waved his hand randomly indicating to 'the outside', "Just hanging out. Stop for a fortune or something some time." Everything ended up stashed away, folded and tucked and put somewhere it wouldn't accidentally be lost but also not found by Nasir. "Oh and it's a surprise so if you see Nasir." He put a finger to his lips. "Shh."

"I will!" There was emphasis on the words because she really planned to; it sounded fun and now she was super curious about it. "And anytime, that's what I'm here for." Obligingly she made the motion of zipping her lips before putting a finger to her lips and winking. "You can count on me, captain."

"Thanks," Wil smiled more, yawned, and rubbed his face again, "You were a lot of help. I'll be sure to refer people here." Thumbs up. "Have a nice day alright? Good karma and all that." The lazy boy finally turned and headed out into the summer sun. ephebe *u* ty for rp it was a good'un
