im so afraid of the upkeep. How long does last? And what happens when it does go away??

It depends on the colour and brand of the hair dye. Some fade faster than others. Mine used to fade really quickly to a white-pink I didn't like as much. Usually when it goes away it just becomes lighter. Sometimes the faded look is good. Once again, depends on the brand, colour, and your own tastes

It's true. It also just depends on your hair growth, and oil.
My hair grows about 2inches a month (my whole family has fast hair/nail growth), but if I do a natural color, or deep red, it will stay for about 3-4months sometimes. But one of my friends who will do the same exact color as I did, it will last up to 2 months max.

I want to color my hair some outrageous color, but I can't right now. I'm growing it out to donate it first. Something I'm doing in honor of one of my aunts who has cancer, and because why not.

I dyed my hair a bold crimson red like 3 years ago, and it permanently changed my beautiful strawberry blonde into this weird blonde/brown/red mixture. Hard to describe, but this is an example I found online:

^Mine is a slightly lighter version of this

I've dyed the undersides of my hair black a few times before, it fades into a beautiful dark gradient that gives a little depth that I like. Next time I'll either try to dye lighter (nothing has worked since the red, even green/browns won't cancel it out), but really I just want a platinum blonde streak somewhere in the middle-back of my head so it makes a single, bold streak.

Right now I am currently growing my natural hair out. It is a dark ash blonde colour, and the ends are a lighter blonde. I'm lucky because it just looks ombre at the moment. sweatdrop

I've been thinking about dyeing my hair blue, to be honest. I dyed my hair pink once and it was so much fun, but other than that I've always had a natural colour.

My hair's super hot pink right now, and I'm finding that pretty fun. I like pretty much any unnatural hair colour though. I'm going to go purple next, then hopefully blue and then teal, which should take me to the end of the year I think.

Whatever you choose, just have fun with it. :3

I would love to go teal or pink!
But I can never commit to doing it lol

Haha, it's fun. Some colours only last like 3-4 weeks, so it's not a huge commitment. I just redyed mine last week because it was fading back to pastel pink and that was about 4 weeks. Unnatural colours are fun. :3

Do any of you ladies with unnatural hair colours find it acts as a hindrance in everyday life? Most of the places I have worked at have specifically said in their rules that unnatural hair colours are not allowed. I want to dye my hair blue but I am moving back to my hometown and I don't want to get turned down for jobs over something so silly.

I've heard of that.
