visiting motherHellbine only gave Autumn a perfunctory mew of acknowledgement before he was purring and pressing up against his mother. 'I am but Violetta's so lazy and so fat.' Hellbine preened under his mother's attention. 'Violetta is content to be a scarf and sleep in the sun.' Whereas he was always out and exploring and helping.

renewal"...Too late for that," She admitted, the exhaustion evident in the line of her shoulders and the bags under her eyes. "I could've... healed him. Tried something, I don't know. He deserved better, chief." She stared mutely into her cup.

Like mother, like child. Autumn rolled her eyes, smiling nonetheless as she stepped aside for the cat reunion.
'Tsk, tsk. I'll have to see to that,' Rosalinde chided, disapproval in her meow. Mind you, she was content to be lazy- but you had to exercise and move amongst that. Otherwise, you'd be a fat cat. And what a shame that was. 'But what of you, my little princess? How are YOU doing?'--- drain"So uh, chief. You know anything about people's magic and powers... kinda exhausting them? Cause lately, I've been. Really ******** tired," she laughed weakly, despite the beautiful summer sun from Jeremiah's garden.
"That ever happen to you? You stop using magic, but you're still just.. tired as hell?"

"We all could have but ..." Jeremiah shook his head. "We can bury ourselves under what ifs, Autumn, they'll kill us. We just have to try as hard as we can to not-" He let out a ragged breath, taking another drink of his tea afterwards.
"Not make the same mistakes that lead us to failure again." The older man looked over at her, smiling a little wearily. "Besides, the blame lays at my feet if anyone's so don't try."

"No," he replied, looking up from where he's transplanting one of the orchids into a new spot. Somewhere it'll grow better. It's a delicate process but he's got a soft touch with the flowers in his garden.
"I mean nothing that doesn't fade with a little rest." Jeremiah looked over his shoulder at Autumn. "It just wipes you for a little while, not a lasting period of time." Worry flashed briefly across his face. "... is that happening to you?"

visiting mother'Yes, talk to Violetta,' he agreed so very primly. Hellbine then of course started to preen a little. 'I have been helping to take things to the one in the forest! Books!There were footsteps not that far away now, Jeremiah clearly having caught up finally.

'Oh? What one in the forest, The Peaceful One? Or the human one?' Was he a messenger now? How proud she was of him! Rosalinde gave Hellbine an affectionate lick on the head, smiling. Doing good things, and yet keeping who he was! Oh! She had such wonderful children.
Autumn looked up at the steps, and waved. "I take it they planned this out, and not you, huh?" She called, gesturing to the two talking cats.--- drain"Uh. Yeah, it is." Autumn admitted, wincing. So clearly, it hadn't affected Jeremiah. That.. was kind of ******** up. She'd expected, of everyone involved in this mess, for him to understand. Or maybe kind of feel it? But apparently, it was only happening to her. Typical.
"Pax says I need to drink honey and apple cider vinegar, and ask around. So I figured you were the best place to start." She shot Jeremiah a cheeky grin, even if her words were genuine.
"Seeing how ancient and wise you clearly are!"

"So far as I know, I'm apparently more of an a*****e this time around." Jeremiah sighed, taking a sip of his tea. "... but that is the opinion of an immortal teenager who is very, very mad at me." That he had also possibly broken a promise with.
"I don't know if we've made the same mistakes but I'm doing my best." He gave her a smile, tired but trying to be reassuring. "It's the only thing we can do." The detective reached out with a hand and gently tapped her on the nose, as if admonishing. "Neither do I but I'm going to try and remind you not to do so regardless. We cannot let what has passed before us dictate our future. They never got it right and we've got the chance to do so."

'The human one!' Hellbine chirped back. 'She is lonely and likes books and I can take them to her! Violetta sometimes helps me get them off the bookshelf.' Since he was so small but that did not matter. Under his mother's attention, he felt like he was a panther.
"Not entirely?" Jeremiah laughed as he finally caught up. His hand was lifted up in greeting. "I was going to come by today just not now. Hellbine's been making a habit of roaming the entire city lately and I caught sight of him coming this way." Blue-green eyes looked a little less tired than the last time she had seen him. "Besides that it is time for us to have a bite to eat together again this week."
Which meant that Jeremiah actually had some containers of food with him just for Autumn.

drainJeremiah gave the earth one final pat before he seemed satisfied that the orchid would be alright. They were temperamental, just like the person who liked them so much, and he had always managed to make sure they bloomed at the right time of year. It was a rather involved process. "If Pax says to do so, then I would do so." His hands were dusted off and he walked over to her with an amused twitch to his lips (and still a touch worried). "I'm going to let the ancient and wise thing pass for now as clearly you're talking about someone else." With the things he had done? Wise was sometimes far from who he was even if he tried to pretend otherwise. "I've only moved myself to exhaustion by overdoing it but, as I said, it always fades. Given myself a headache or two because of straining my eyes to look for magic. "Is it something particular that's causing the drain? Just practicing magic in other ashdown or the use of one of your powers?" Moonstone Dazzle life ate me/hates me but I HAVE FINALLY TAGGED. tho prob should have another in here with how autumn is gonna be not happy he's having seizures and s**t now XD;

renewal"Believe it or not, I've heard about that. Sunny was not thrilled there." And that was putting it lightly. That had been a meltdown and a half, and Autumn sympathetically looked back to it with a sigh. For all of their s**t, Sunny seemed to be dealing with just as much s**t, if not moreso.
"For what it counts... I think you're doing pretty great," Autumn replied, earnesty in her tone.
"I hope we do get it right, this time. The future freaks me the ******** out, chief."visiting mother'Just don't wear yourself out for the humans, my love. They are kind, but they are very involved in these happenings. I want to know my little princess is safe,' she purred, brushing up against Hellbine. All of her children were good, but it filled Rosalinde with delight to know Hellbine was doing so well. Her lady had picked good humans after all, it seemed. All of them visited, and took care of her babies. Autumn grinned from ear to ear, almost comedically so when she caught sight of the food. "Well, I'm never gonna say no to a cat that comes bearing food. They're so weird, though. All of them." She sighed in complete amusement, shaking her head as she stepped aside to let them in. "Glad he's not giving you too much trouble, though." drain"Yeah, yeah, I'm listening to them. It just tastes nasty-a**," she fake-wretched, sticking her tongue out. In reality, she did not doubt Pax- would never do so- but it didn't mean she enjoyed the drink, at all. She had to shotgun several glasses of tea to get the taste out of her mouth, afterwards. Sometimes, she'd wake up in a cold sweat, tasting it. "Oh and stuff it, Gandalf. You've been at this s**t longer than I have, you're totally ancient and wise. It's a compliment. It means you get to be the cool old man who mentors everyone, then dies, then comes back even ******** cooler." A teasing grin, because hey. She'd read Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the White was totally an amazing comparison to aspire for, even if it meant she was likely one of the Hobbits. "It's... my healing magic. The more I use it, the more tired I am. Pax said something about it getting at my core...?"

Jeremiah looked up sharply at the fact that Autumn had heard about it. "No, she is not. However, had I been aware of what the deal was going to cost me I would have never made it. She is a young girl and deserves far, far better than what life has thrown at her." He sighed. "Even if she's over nineteen thousand years old and essentially an immortal teenager."
A hand raked through his hair, Autumn given a tired smile. "I would submit that you are doing great yourself, Autumn. As well as can be expected and, to be quite frank and steal from you, the future freaks me the ******** out too."
As it was always special to hear Jeremiah speak like that.

"No, he's no trouble aside from the wandering about." Jeremiah chuckled, stepping inside as Autumn let him. "Hopefully you're in the mood for fried rice, as that's what I made up." With all the goodies included and hand-made fortune cookies because Jeremiah was that nerd.
Hellbine nosed at the air because shrimp but then preened more under his mother's attention. 'I do not. I enjoy exploring the city and seeing where I can get too.' Then, very quietly, he was nuzzling his mother and licking at her chin. 'I make sure I am safe.'

"I certainly don't mind the comparison but I can do without some of the steps required to follow his lead." He shook his head but gave her a quick twitch upwards of his lips. If Pax had provided them something then that meant they had some idea but not the entire thing. Which was not that surprising. Hearing that it was her healing magic got him to look up at her sharply. "You mean-" he paused, mind picking apart what she said and then- There was a moment of realization (or at least how he was looking at it because core). "It's taking from you?
