"A statement," He repeated, trying to think of the police here. Of anyone here but him and Jeremiah and Michael. It felt overwhelming, in a sense. Too much to add on to everything already.
"I.. I dropped my boots by Michael," He said quietly. It felt like a detail that had to be said, for whatever reason. Chris glanced up at Jeremiah when he pulled back, trying to focus on him. There was a second, then he glanced downward as he said, "Okay."
He didn't believe him, but he didn't want to push it right now.

"Don't worry about them." Jeremiah meant his boots because at this point it would be disturbing the scene more and- "I mean it. It's not. You did nothing but try to help and protect a student of yours. Don't put weight on your shoulders that you don't need." He went back to putting an arm around Chris, holding onto him and purposely turning him away from looking at Michael's body. (Even if this would haunt him, even if he would never forgive himself, even if it was not Chris's fault because it was absolutely Jeremiah's.)"... and if you have to," he continued on, "or that you don't believe me then know that it's not a burden you share alone. The blame lies with me more than it ever will with you."

"Did I though? Did I?" He turns, looking a little less calm. "I went for a walk on a beach I could've - I could've looked for him, asked Helidora done- done something in the library when we saw him. I didn't do anything though. If anything it's my fault."
His breath is all too fast, any sense of calm gone and he pressed the heels of his hands to his eyes to keep from crying. Not then and there. All he ends up feeling is woozy and lightheaded.
"I-I don't feel good and I don't know what to do," He says plaintively, meaning all too well everything after this. How did he just go home?

"He was berserk in the library. What happened- he was dragged here. We don't know what happened or why it happened, we just acted to try and fix something." Jeremiah did not relent his hold on Chris. The detective was thankful for the fact he was wearing gloves, it kept his hands from chilling the young man. "I could've done the same, Chris. You are not alone, you are not at fault." His gaze was intent and he meant it, absolutely, even if on the inside he was faulting himself every step of the way. "If you want, after all of this, I can call Alg and he can come sit with you or anyone you want." There were sirens now in the distance which meant people would be here soon and- "You don't need to be alone."

Chris went silent, only taking in Jeremiah's gaze before giving him a short brisk nod. It was all he could think, or do. He didn't entirely believe Jeremiah, but he wasn't going to get anywhere arguing with him. He just wanted to sit down and go home and just.
Feel better.
He wanted to feel better.
"I-If you could call Alg. I-I'd," He just stopped, didn't want to say anymore. He didn't want to be alone and he just wanted to sit down. Faintly he could hear the sirens and he pressed his hands to his eyes again.

"Deep breaths," he gave Chris another squeeze and then let go to pull his phone from his pocket. More than a few texts were sent out, Jeremiah having to contact Algie and send a response to Kuroda. There were several that- His eyes finally glanced over to the bloated body of Michael, purposely moving so that if Chris did turn back to look Jeremiah would be in his line of sight. "I'm going to walk you back to my car, Chris, and you can wait there for Alg, alright?" He was in work mode, it was the only way to handle this, and Chris looked as if he would collapse any moment. Statements and cordoning off and making sure that this was left alone as much as possible. Would they find out what the cause was? What had killed him? ... was it their fault because of the choices they had made? He had made his choices, now he had to own them. iloveyouDIE text to: alg come to the beach. chris found michael. cibarium leila will have gotten a text from jeremiah, eve as well. we can handwave what it was exactly but both of them would be getting pings. Blade Kuroda text to: shun kuroda body found. PeanutButterpies and we can expect that chris stays the night so that he is not alone. wherein there is lots of calming hands for chris and flowercats using him as a bed. can prob wrap up on your post <3

Chris just nodded once more, taking in a shuddering breath and pulling his hands from his eyes. Brushing them on his pants, staring at the sand and his feet before glancing back up at Jeremiah.
"I can... I can do that. Yeah," He mumbled, swallowing. Trying to not think about anything more except just sitting down and seeing Algie.
He wasn't going to sleep for awhile after this, or feel even remotely okay, but it was something.
