While Lucas might be smiling, Shun still was not. His expression remained neutral throughout this conversation. "I am uncertain how the law on this side will do much good for what happens over there. Other than help clean up the messes that happen should things spill over."It wasn't quite good enough, in his opinion. He let out a breath and looked around the coffeeshop idly. When he was sure no one was paying them any mind, he let go of his cup of tea. However, it didn't drop. It remained floating over the table, just an inch or two out of his physical grasp. He let it linger there for a few seconds before he took it back into his hand. "My exposure to magic just from that incident has already left its mark on me in more ways than one apparently. I am not certain what that says about my chances of staying on this side or being pulled over. But... regardless. Having reliable allies is always a good thing."Friends weren't really something he made, but he still understood the value of allies. "For what it is worth, you have an ally here as well."

"You're the barricade of normalcy between here and there," Lucas replied simply. "People will look to you for that affirmation, and you're in a unique position to offer it. I'd hardly call that useless." He didn't notice, not immediately, what was going on. His brows lofted in a perplexed manner, glancing out over the shop and then back to him and down to his hand when it moved -- and only then did he see. Lucas stared for a long moment and after the trick had ended, he uttered a low, faint sound. "Sergeant, I don't have a lick of magic in me, so I think it's safe to say you're going to end up Otherside at some point." Pale eyes lifted to Shun, conflicted between amusement, uncertainty and dismay. "You think you're useless but you can do more than I can, other than looking like I belong at a cosplay convention." He was not happy about it - that Shun, too, would be subjected to that place - but there was nothing to do for it, now. It set its sight on him and it would only be a matter of time. Lucas sighed deeply, pursing his lips and shaking his head before he managed another small smile. "It's worth a hell of a lot more than you think, Sarge. Knowing there's some understanding to our condition and what's happening is worth its weight in gold."

Well great. This of course meant that Chel was probably going to find herself on the other side at some point as well, given how they were both in the same position, more or less. That was not going to go well with her at all, but he didn't really care. He was still rather unhappy with the way she had acted that night. "I would not say I can do more than you. While your monthly shift may not all be practical on this side... I imagine those claws and whatnot may come in handy should danger arise on the other. Am I wrong to assume that you gain heightened senses from the animal you take properties from?" he asked. He still didn't envy Lucas for being a moonwalker, but there had to be some way to turn a curse into a boon. "...But we are not here to go over who can do more or less than the other," he shook his head, "If I find out more about what is coming in August... I will let you know. Keep this on the down low, but I do know it has something to do with one of the 'missing' teens."

"No, unfortunately. You saw my claws in action, I can do no more than any other." Lucas laughed softly at the next part, subtly shaking his head. "There was a while I could hear what seemed like my entire complex fornicating, but that's it. Some territorial tiffs, but I hardly find that a boon." Shun's words made the werewolf flinch a little, biting his bottom lip. If he was going to be of any use as an ally, he couldn't withhold information important to the detective. "Look, uh, one of those kids -- was named Michael, right?" Lucas exhaled sharply, his chest tight. "The rogue? The one that hit me? That -- that was Michael." Another pause, a wince tugging at the corners of his eyes. "He didn't make it, Sarge. You'll...find his body at the breaker by the beach any day now."

Shun lifted his head at that, staring at Lucas. He had already been aware that Michael was the alpha were, but he didn't know that the kid was dead now. "What? How? Who told you this?" he asked, furrowing his brow. The detective got his phone out, getting ready to text Mercer to relay this information. But he didn't send anything just yet.

"Sunny," he said quietly. "She offered the information, I'd have never thought to ask." Lucas looked down at his coffee; he still hadn't come to terms with it. "She said his name was Michael Mitchell and I did some research and...he was one of the missing teens. He was also the one who was supposed to help the Moonwalkers know our purpose." His pale eyes turned up to Shun, unhappy. "I don't know how. I only know he didn't survive on the Otherside."

Sunny knew. Just like how she knew that Heliodora's foot would show up. Or at least the circumstances made it seem like she knew that would happen. "So the one guy who could help you out ended up going crazy in our world... and ultimately died," he said. A dark tone was in his voice. Mercer did say something about Michael not belonging here, and that it seemed like something had ripped him from Other Ashdown. He couldn't help but think the line up of events was very... deliberate. If the moonwalkers were meant to be the bastion between realms, taking out the one that would train them would make things easier for who or whatever was trying to escape. "That is... unfortunate," he murmured before holding up a finger to request a moment. He activated the mic in his phone, then uttered quietly into it so it could transfer his words into text. He was completely unaware of what was already going on at the Precinct. azuredreams Text from Shun: I received a tip Michael is dead check beach

Lucas nodded grimly. "Sunny suspects he was put there." And he left it at that as Shun retrieved his phone, leaning back against his seat and drinking his coffee. What a morning. Blade Kuroda SHORT RESPONSE not sure if Em is gonna reply here or not XD

After firing off that text, he set his phone back down. He wasn't really expecting an immediate response. Mercer could be busy working right now. And so he turned his attention back to Lucas. "It seems that Mercer or I will have to speak with Sunny before too long, then. It is possible she knows the cause. Thank you for letting me know."Rubbing his head, he went on to take another drink of his tea. "Perhaps I am just paranoid, but I cannot help but feel that this was all a part of someone or something's plan."

"Just be careful with her," he advised, lightly. Of the things he wouldn't say, his pact was one, especially a pact that made her Pack. "She's not someone to take lightly or disrespectfully." Lucas shook his head, swirling the remains of his coffee in the cup. "It's not just you. The question is, why? It insinuates that there was something more important that we aren't told, and there has to be someone else that knows. I just don't get it." He sighed deeply, eyes searching the black liquid. "I don't get any of this."

"Well I cannot say that I trust Sunny, exactly, so caution is a given regardless. But I will keep that in mind should I be the one to see her."A sigh escaped his lips as he closed his eyes for a few moments. "The only thing I can remotely guess is that it has to do with the entity they call the Enemy. I barely know anything of it, though. But since the other realm is its prison... you may be one of its wardens. It could be a part of its plan to escape, or something else that wants it to be free. I do not know..."

Leaning forward onto the table, Lucas put his coffee aside and looked at Shun somberly. "From what I understand from Autumn, The Enemy is the bad guy. From what I understand from Lady, we're all tools to The Enemy, who is, in fact, the whole reason magic exists." He shook his head, slow and methodical. "I am not one of the wardens. Three teenagers are." And that was a whole different pot of s**t he had no way of knowing how to approach.

"Three teen-- the three missing ones?" he asked quietly. Lucas hadn't specified, but he couldn't think of another trio of teenagers that were connected to all of this. Mercer hadn't mentioned it, either. "If that is the case... then I am almost certain that taking out Michael is for the sake of releasing the Enemy."And it would make sense as to why the third teen was seemingly someone or something's quarry.

Shun was quiet, but there was something about the way he spoke that gave Lucas the impression that this was about the most the man would show in terms of emotion. "I don't know who they are," he admitted with an apologetic tone. "I never asked. That information seemed -- seemed like too much responsibility. The thing is, it may be released when they die, but that also means it can die. Their seal was two fold, both to keep it away and to kind of...make it impervious to being killed." That was another thing there was little detail with, and hell, that had only been over a text message. "That's why I said, either the thing is released or it isn't, but either way, people are going to die."

Shun tapped his fingers against his cup again, with his brow furrowed in thought. "Yes... seems that way. I do not know enough about any of this to really judge which way would be better. I am inclined to think that something that is that much of a threat should be eliminated, but just because something can be killed, it does not necessarily mean we have the means to do so. Or if that is even really the best course of action..."For all he knew, killing the Enemy could lead to far greater problems. It could create a power vacuum, allowing something potentially worse to take its place. Or maybe it'd fix things. He had no way of knowing. "As you said, there will be a cost, no matter what happens at this point."
