Knowing that the root was used to make things taste sweet made her smile. That meant that she could definitely find good uses for it. Something that was naturally sweet was always welcome. Phaedra watched Bushi as he bartered. He was impressive. She knew from before that he could be persuasive when trying to sell things but she'd not seen him like this before. As he held the bark out for her to investigate she leaned close to sniff at it. Phae was sure that Bushi was right so she nodded. "Mhm, it's faint but that can be fixed with a day or two in the sun." And since they were in Oba there was plenty of sun to go around.

Bushi gave a smile, "I hope that you're able to use them effectively after the herbs are given the time in the sun that they need." He said, giving the woman a friendly smile before he turned back to the booth once more, looking things over again, before he got out the necessary coin to pay for the herbs that the merchant was currently wrapping up for Phaedra. Once the exchange was done he handed everything over to the pretty Leaf Tribeswoman. "Just let me know if there is anything else that you're interested in buying today, Sprite, and we can go searching for it if you like?" He was all for that, wanting nothing more then to spend a bit more time in the marketplace himself. He was a fan of shopping, trading, and making deals and if he could help out the sprite that was only that much better. He liked her well enough and getting her bargains was one thing that he could definitely do for her. Giving a thoughtful sound he said, "From what I heard while I was shopping the butcher got in some fresh trotter tails if that is something you're interested in trying to cook up? There is a lot of good, fatty meat on their tails and it's quite delicious on a regular day but I'm sure that someone with your skills can make it extraordinary."

Phaedra quickly nodded then took the wrapped herbs happily. "Thank you, Bear." As Bushi told her that he would help her to search for anything else she had been looking for she tried to think. Was there anything else that she wanted to shop for or was she finished? "Mm, well I only wanted a few spices and you. I found both so..." The leaf woman chuckled but was pleased to simply walk with the man. "Oh? Trotter tail? Is it like fish meat? I've never cooked it before." Of course he now had her attention with that. It was something different for her to try. Plus, she could have fun with it.

Bushi couldn't help but to give a little grin as the woman said that she'd only wanted the spices and Bushi himself. It was quite the compliment he thought to himself, especially given the fact that she was a good looking woman and he wasn't exactly what the ideal man might look like... not that he really cared. So he had a bit of extra weight around the middle, it just meant he could afford to be that way. With a happy smile on his face he said, "Careful, Sprite, I might end up thinking that you've become fond of me for more then just my bartering skills." As they walked, with him leading the way toward his favorite butcher, he said, "Trotter tails do actually have a slightly fishy taste to them despite them coming from large reptiles. They are also a creature that spends a lot of time in the ocean so they have naturally salty taste to them. Something you'll want to keep in mind while cooking them so that they don't end up too salty. That tends to be something that trips people up when they first start cooking the tails." Just thinking about the tails had his belly rumbling as he said, "My favorite trotter tails have to be the ones you find diced up in a sweet and spicy soup. There is a place in the city that serves it if you ever want to try it out."

"Your silver tongue is very useful, Bear, but not why I like you." Phaedra chuckled. Of course his bartering skills had come in handy when she'd needed them as well as when he had tried to sell her things, but she found he was more charming than that. "So perhaps I am more fond of you than you think." Such bold words for her since she'd never discovered a like for someone in such a way. Mano was a friend, of course, and one that she could be intimate with if it went to that level, but she had no romantic feelings there. Bushi on the other hand she seemed drawn to. There was something about him that made her want to seek out his company, something that made her want to show off her skills as a cook, and definitely something that made her feel girly. Phaedra wasn't sure if it was a romantic feeling just yet but it was close. "I shall keep that in mind when I try to make it." The knowledge that the trotter tail had a natural salty taste was useful. That meant any spices she used would have to be salt free. Maybe a bit on the spicy side? Or perhaps sweet? She would have to explore the best way to combine the herbs with the natural flavoring.

Bushi actually looked like he was blushing as she said that she was more fond of him then he'd think. They were kind words, ones that had no ties to his skills as a business man, and were enjoy to actually cause him a moment of shyness. Giving a bit of a laugh he said, "Is that so? Well, I must say I am fond of you as well, Sprite. I look forward to our chats." He didn't want to admit that he was seeking her out in the crowd when he wasn't busy, a little afraid that it might sound a bit foolish since he was a grown man acting like a prentice with his first crush. Giving a smile he said, "Well, when you're cooking up trotter tails, and well anything else, think about me and how much you'd love to share." He said, giving her a little wink before they continued on forward, seeking out the butcher for Phaedra. As she was a cook it would be important for her to know the location of the butcher and other such people that could help her as far as practicing her craft went. As they walked, and due to his own personal curiosity, he asked, "Do you plan on cooking in a restaurant in Oba? Or are you thinking of starting one of your own?" He asked, wondering exactly how far she meant to build up her skills as a cook.

Seeing a small spot of color made her chuckle. At least she knew the man wasn't immune to compliments. "Hm, well I can say that since meeting you.. you are who I think of when I am cooking." Phae wanted to know if her meals were good enough for his tastes. As he asked her if she was going to work in a restaurant or open up her own she cleared her throat a little. "Actually.. neither. Most of the meals I make are for those at home." It had been her father for the longest time but since learning of his betrayal she had left him and her home behind. Then it had been Mano and Kyrian, but after she had met Bushi she had lost focus and lost them. It also didn't help that trying to navigate the cities in Oba was like trying to solve a riddle. For her anyways. "Though I suppose that since I no longer have a home.. I only cook for those I care about."

Bushi gave a happy chuckle as she said that he was the one that she thought about while she was cooking. That had a rather nice sound, didn't it? It made him feel quite special, which put him in that much better of a mood then he was already in, which was saying something. He smiled, "That's nice of you to say, Sprite, thank you." As she said that she wasn't planning to get a restaurant he actually looked surprised. It might be his own personal drive to make money talking but the idea that she wouldn't even try to use her considerable skills to make some. It was a surprise. One had to appreciate the fact that she was willing to share her skills with only the people that she cared about. It was an admirable thing even if he felt that she could sell her food if she wanted to. "Well, if you ever do decide to make a restaurant I will be your number one customer. Until then I will happily take whatever you will make for me." He wasn't one that turned down free food, which his pudgy belly would attest to.
