He blinked and nodded toward the large hole in the tree. "An owl... I think." He sniffed again. He was pretty sure it was up there in that hole. He flicked his tail "I wonder if you can eat an owl..." He tipped his head. He nodded. "We probably should... Or we should chase it off." He flicked an ear and was looking to find the best way up the tree. He shifted from paw to paw and glanced at DappleFox. The queens would be a fright, and all lost star would do would be to send some warriors to scare off the bird. If they could scare it off... Or even catch it as freshkill. They would be heros in the clan. "Im gonna climb the tree and see if its in there!" He glanced to her, all his thoughts clear on his face as he launched himself up the tree, digging his claws into the bark to pull himself up.

She didn't know any other bird that left pellets. More than likely it was an owl. The female paced around the outside trying to see anything out of place, but nothing was immediately obvious. Oh, they definitely needed to inform the leader, or the deputy at least. Just the two of them? Chase off a big owl? Well the more they could find out about it the more information for Loststar they'd have.
"Not without me!" Anything Jokerface could do, so could she! He was foolish trying to go up there by himself. Owl had sharp beaks and claws. Dapplefox launched herself up the side of the tree. Her sharp claws digging into the bark to gain purchase to drive herself up. If this failed, oh man, where they going to be in deep trouble! That didn't stop her from joining her clanmate though. They were in this together.

He was already climbing when she hopped on the tree as well. He wasnt going to let a she-cat beat him. He reached the branch closest to the hole and cautiously moved out of the way so she would have a place too. He glanced up at the hole. "Ok..." He whispered as to not startle the bird out of the tree... "Ill look in the hole... If its in there... Then Ill scare it out... and then you bring it down..." He nodded. Sure this was a logical plan right? The two of them could take on one owl. With a twitch of his tail he took to the tree to scramble up so he could peek in. Oh man... It was huge. He glanced to DappleFox. She probably couldnt take it down alone. He glanced in the hole again. He could slip in behind it and attack it before it could get down. They would just ambush it in its home. He hesitated and went back down to here. "Its a huge brown one! I think we should attack it together in its hole... maybe... instead? What do you think?"

Dapplefox clawed her way up to take her place beside him on the branch. She panted a bit to catch her breath after the climb up. For a moment she peered over his head, trying to see inside, but it was too dark and her angle bad. She lashed her tail in anticipation and got her balance to pounce.
"Right." She'd do her best. She only hoped they'd both come out of this with fur and skins intact. Dapplefox waited as he took a look in. It was close to sundown, so the owl should just be starting to wake up. Hopefully he hadn't left yet. She was surprised to see him come back down to the branch. "What is it?" She hissed at this sudden change of plans.
The female narrowed her eyes. Big hu? Big enough that Jokerface wasn't sure just the two of them could take it on. She glanced at the opening. "There's no way we both can attack it from here." What could they do? She was remarked for her cunning; it was time to employ it. The opening was too small for both cats to charge in even if they could have, or big enough for one owl to come out. They'd have to go in one after the other. Then they'd be in the owl's domain. She couldn't be sure how big the inside was either. One or both could become trapped.
"Jokerface, I don't think we can attack it now. We should wait until it leaves for the night then see if we can block the entrance with debris like sticks. Then at sunup we come back and when it tries to fly in that's when we can attack." She looked at him to see if he followed it.

Jokerface shook his head and flicked his ear. Her cunning was one of the things that loststar had praised her for... but Jokerface was anything but patient. He twitched his tail unhappy with the lot. They would have to share the victory if they went back and got others. He followed but he didnt look happy as he was sitting and staring up at the hole. "If we go back to camp we need to tell Loststar..." As if that explained all his thoughts. He nodded though. "Yeah probably the best plan." And about that time there was movement above and a great horned owl took to the air on silent wings. He watched it go and sighed. "Come on... lets find some stuff to block its hole..." He moved to climb down the tree to the ground. He just hoped he would be put on the party to go back and chase out the owl. He wasnt sure if he would be, and Dapplefox was so new they would probably send out senior warriors...He picked up a good sized stick and headed back up the tree to place it in the hole. "Like this?"

She was pleased with her plan actually. Given the situation it was probably the smartest move. Cats weren't designed to really fight in the trees, although Thunderclan was probably the best at it. "We need to tell him either way. And we have to go back or they'll worry." Plus they could get into trouble for not telling. A little extra back up was a fine thing. Especially after Dapplefox saw the size of the owl that was nesting there. Her eyes went wide as it came out and flew off into the night. Someone would have lost a tail for sure! She didn't know about Jokerface, but she was partial to her fluffy tail.
The female slid easily out of the tree. A quick nose around and she'd gather several small branches together that she could carry back up. She evaluated his work, adjusting it slightly then added her additions. "C'mon lets get more. We need to really block it up so it can't get back inside." Shoving the sticks in she took a moment to look inside nest. Big is seemed, but with that owl there couldn't have been that much more room. Dapplefox went back down.

It wasnt a bad plan. JokerFace had just wanted the glory of bringing back the owl. Wouldnt that have made a mark. He gave a reluctant nod but then they were going against a very large owl. With a sharp beak and knife like talons. And yes, he very much liked her fluffy tail too. ((*shot*)) JokerFace watched her adjust and move things and he nodded before heading back down to get more. It took a few more adjustments and trips up and down but when the hole was filled he lashed his tail and headed back to the ground. "Alright all we can do is wait now... " So he flicked his tail. "Lets go back..."He gave one last look to the owl hole and trotted back toward camp.

Luckily she was unaware of his opinion on her very fluffy tail. Determinedly, Dapplefox carried her sticks and twigs up into the hole, doing her best to jam them in so the owl would have a hard time getting them out. After their last load, she eyed their work critically. "I think it'll do for now." With a thankful sigh she dropped back to the ground. Her claws were starting to ache, but she wasn't going to let that stop her from finishing this task.
She leveled a crimson gaze at the tom. "That's where you're wrong. Now we plan." Dapplefox emphasized the last word. She wasn't going to run into this head blind, hoping on luck. The young warrior nodded and helped him carry his catch back to the clan. When they got there she dropped the prey in the freshkill pile before turning toward the leader's den. She figured Loststar or Darkcall would be there if not both. She cleared her throat outside the entrance to announce her presence.

Luck had nothing to do with it. JokerFace liked a lot of she-cat tails, he didnt let it rule him though. He helped as much as he could. By the end he was wishing the wingshaped fur on his back would actually let him fly. He nodded and flicked an ear. "Whats to say this owl wont just fly away again?" That was a question that had popped to his mind on the 4th trip up and down the tree. He followed her down and twitched his tail. JokerFace frowned. Wait, plan, what was the difference? He picked up one of his prey and then they were back at camp in a blink. He went with The she-cat to the leaders den and he waited for the leader to call them in before he entered. He flicked his ear and sat down. LostStar questioned them why they were there. JokerFace glanced at DappleFox and then spoke. "We discovered an Owl." He flicked his tail at DappleFox. "She had a good idea..." He just waited to let her tell the leader

"Well, as long as it flies out of our territory I don't see a problem." She glanced at him. The whole purpose to this was to get rid of it. Dapplefox would be content to simply drive it away. If it wouldn't take a hint and leave, then she'd go for the kill. That was safest for the clan.
She padded inside when Loststar gave permission to enter. "Good evening Loststar," Dapplefox greeted before launching into her story. She told of what they'd found, the plan they'd made, and finally the actions they'd already taken to secure it into place. She waved her tail to show she still had energy to carry out the last stage of the plan if he would let her join the party.

He frowned but nodded. He didnt wish the owl on shadow or windclan. But it was better than in their territory he guessed. But yes, get rid of it, jokerface just wanted to kill it... afterall, he may be recognized for it or something. Always looking for fame.
When LostStar heard about the owl he called in DarkCall and they had to repeat everything. Though when the order came down LostStar listed off some names for the owl hunt and DappleFox and himself werent on it. JokerFace frowned and looked to the leader. "But, LostStar... DappleFox was the brains behind this... She... should go at the very least... and and I could go too!"
Loststar looked to him and then the shecat and frowned. "She was up all night... and now its nearly dark again! How does she keep going?! Better to let rested warriors get to it... You two should go warn the queens and apprentices to keep watch." JokerFace hesitated. He was kinda right, they should probably leave it to the older warriors... He glanced to DappleFox to see what she thought.
