Rastin, though he wouldn't allow himself to give it away, was appalled. He understood that stealing was wrong, of course it was, but to go to such a violent extent against a small child felt very extensive. The mentioning of an older boss only made his blood boil further. He took a breath in.
"I will not being going anywhere, you vile little wretch." He sneered, his fists clenching. "Now, I've been very reasonable. I've tried to make you feeble minded mongrels see that violence isn't always a good option, but I see that neither of you can comprehend that. It's like some kind of rampant disease."
He leaned forward, his shoulders hunching up as his hands met the counter, and slid his hand toward one of the cans.
"I refuse to accept that a peaceful compromise cannot be reached in the future." He said, grasping the can and leering toward the greenblood. "For now, however..."
He showed a millisecond's worth of hesitation, before launching the can at the tealblood's head and lunging to scramble over the counter.
"I suppose this will have to do!"

The can clocked the tealblood with a dull, painful sound. "What the-! What the ********, man!?" The tealblood was supporting themselves on the nearest set of shelves as they tried to calm the raging dizziness the can had inflicted. They were too occupied to see Rastin make a break for the counter. The greenblood had just enough of a head-start to grab the mop. She was at least skilled enough with a long weapon to hold it in a defensive position between herself and Rastin. The bell on the door jangled with a dissonant cheeriness. "Security Drone #571 here on report of shoplifting."A hulking figure obscured head to toe in the rigid, black uniform of a drone. While it was impossible to read their concealed expression, there was enough of a pause upon entering the scene that it was clear they were taking their time to react. The floor was a slimy disaster, the tealblood was nursing a growing bruise, and the greenblood was defensively wielding a mop from behind the counter. And Rastin, a purpleblood of all trolls, was at the center of it all. The drone filled the doorway as it waited, expectantly, for an explanation. Bouquet of Diamonds oh whoops. pretend i'm on the mule.

Well, this had gone... Kinda like he'd hoped? His logic had been that, once the redblood was free, he would be able to grab them and run for the hills like some kind of obscure vigilante. However, while he floundered about in his attempt to climb the counter, the child had taken their chance to escape by themselves. He was both satisfied and, increasingly, mortified.
He stood on the counter, his knees half-bent and stiffened, and leaned back slowly. Okay, he'd injured someone for the first time in his life, and was probably going to get his a** handed to him if he went forward. It was probably best that he stepped down, took a breath, and apologized.
However, the appearance of the drone ripped that plan in two.
"Y-you just missed them, I'm afraid!" He answered, looking between the tealblood and the greenblood. "They took off on foot while we were... Having our altercation."
He paused, his lips pursing and curling, and sighed.
"... I'll have a guilty conscious if I keep this to myself." He said, straightening his posture. "I aided in their escape, but only because they were a very small child, visibly starving, and I believed that they needed help more than they would need imprisonment and punishment. You can do with me as you will and I will pay for the damages caused." seekingCylem (I quoted you and the mule because I wasn't sure which you wanted to continue with! Also, I'm having so much fun with this. He's acting like such a moron, it's perfect)

The drone was tall enough to watch Rastin talk without turning their head from the rest of the scene. The retail workers were gradually relaxing as they realized they weren't at further risk for harm. They had been about to interject with their own sides of the story when Rastin went ahead and admitted to the crime. The two of them were visibly shocked, the tealblood more so than the green. The drone's posture remained unchanged. "Understood," was the only indication they'd heard anything that had been said. There was a brief but uncomfortable pause as the trolls waited for the drone to continue. If it had been a robot, one could have probably heard the fans kicking on as the scene was reassessed. "Request to cover expenses acknowledged. Highblood, you are to exchange contact information with the establishment," the drone said, while turning their head to indicate the troll behind the register as the designated recipient. The greenblood at the counter was equal parts confused, relieved, and uncomfortable with being singled out by the drone. She seemed conflicted whether to turn her attention to Rastin or continue watching the drone. The drone continued, "The shoplifting charges have been raised to 'attempted theft and law enforcement evasion.' Requesting access to establishment security cameras for blood hue and symbol identification," The drone said the word "request," despite it being very much not the case. It was perhaps the closest the drone could have gotten to humor. This time it was the tealblood's turn to be put on the spot. "Of... Of course," They sputtered. They walked swiftly to the back of the store. The drone followed with slow, but long steps. Rastin was left with the greenblood. "As if getting caught by the drone before wasn't bad enough," she muttered while pulling out a pen and pad of paper. She pushed it across the counter top towards Rastin. "Least the punishment would've been over quickly. Bright side: she sure isn't going to be showing her face around this district anymore." The greenblood nodded at her own deduction. Even if the drones wouldn't bother putting on a manhunt for a (failed) shoplifter, her symbol would definitely be flagged by the local businesses. She would be forced to travel at least another district over to freely access amenities. "You should probably get out of here before the drone tries to make you file a report too. Drones get more resources when highbloods are involved."

Rastin was perpetually tense, but relaxed a smidgen when the drone disappeared along with the tealblood. He didn't seem to be getting into trouble with the law at least, probably because he was a highblood and nothing more, but it was still a relief. He turned to the greenblood as she shoved the paper over and snapped it up like it was the last package of tea on a shelf.
"Quick or not, I've never seen a need for savage lengths for small crimes." He quipped, jotting down his information and directions to his hive, if needed. "Things like stealing should be punished with servitude or labor. It would give them a chance to understand how much work goes into running a store and maybe help them find a new skill. Reacting with violence teaches them nothing and, in my opinion, solves nothing."
He clicked the pen when he was finished writing and glanced to the back of the store.
"Good to know, I don't have time for that." He grumbled, his gaze slowly turning back to her. "Please contact me at your leisure. I intend to make good on my word, so don't worry about me running off somewhere. ... All I ask is that you beware my lusus if you decide to visit. He has a bad habit of cuddling trolls to death."Hivestuck (I'm not sure if you really wanted him to start leaving or not, so I left it like this)

The greenblood stayed rigid behind the counter as she watched Rastin write down his contact information. Despite the bulk of the altercation being settled, she wasn't about to let her guard down just yet. "We're not savages, you know," she bit out at Rastin's scolding. "Just because she thought she was going to get a culling order doesn't mean that was what would've happened. Lowbloods need direction."The greenblood was agreeing with Rastin, but probably not in the way he had in mind. "Without proper subjugation of the masses, we get chaos," she gestured to the downed shelves that now had enormous boot prints in them from the drone. "Better to make a point now with an individual than wait for them to try something worse."Bouquet of Diamonds It's up to you! Rastin leaned away from the counter as he listened to the greenblood's reply and gave his head a shake. While he could understand the need for direction and keeping some people in line, he couldn't find it within him to think that using violence was the way things had to remain. He stepped toward the door and turned to look back just before heading outside.
"I happen to think that all trolls need direction." He replied. "Think of how easy it could have been for me to lie today and use my blood color against you and your co-worker. The drone had very little trouble skirting over the fact that I helped that redblood escape, who's to say that they wouldn't have taken anything I said as truth as well?"
He raised his hand and motioned toward his symbol.
"I recognize that my blood color gives me exemptions and privileges." He continued. "And the fact that a redblood like her has to suffer through life while I get to coast along for no reason other than our difference in blood color makes me want to use these privileges to bring some good into this world. If that happens to mean throwing a few cans around and getting dirty, so be it. I won't let such a trivial difference in us change my mind."
And with that said, he turned on his heel and scurried back across the street. However, when he went to retrieve the bags he'd been carrying prior to this performance, he was dismayed to find that they were gone. He sighed, pursed his lips, and rolled his eyes.
"I suppose that's what I deserve." He muttered, before turning to head back home. He'd come back to get a new teapot again some other day. Hivestuck Okay, I didn't realize that it was up to me for that! I think we're good here. Thank you for a really fun quest and I look forward to playing Rastin as a teen! ; w;
