I live in Canada, in the Thousand Islands, on the St. Lawrence River. My first poem reflects this, entitled
A River Rhyme, Midsummer
Go down to the river
And watch the sun sparkle-up the blue-jean waves.
Go down to the river
And make it your summer day.
St. Lawrence side,
River-edge wide
I dream of mermaids singing to me,
St. Lawrence side
Beacon-light's bride
And you will come back to me.
Go down to the river
And let the wind lift-kiss-catch your honey-blond hair
Go down to the river
And I'll be a-waiting there.
St. Lawrence side,
River-edge wide
I dream of mermaids singing to me,
St. Lawrence side
Beacon-light's bride
And you will come back to me.
A River Rhyme, Midsummer
Go down to the river
And watch the sun sparkle-up the blue-jean waves.
Go down to the river
And make it your summer day.
St. Lawrence side,
River-edge wide
I dream of mermaids singing to me,
St. Lawrence side
Beacon-light's bride
And you will come back to me.
Go down to the river
And let the wind lift-kiss-catch your honey-blond hair
Go down to the river
And I'll be a-waiting there.
St. Lawrence side,
River-edge wide
I dream of mermaids singing to me,
St. Lawrence side
Beacon-light's bride
And you will come back to me.
