Melody leaned on the car door and gave the two a quizzical stare. She didn't realize Rodney and Mik were so close. It was cute, at least, and she slowly raised her phone to try and snap a photo of the couple.
Unfortunately, Lawr was faster than her shutter and the picture was ruined.

"He's doing the other side," Rodney explained, squeezing some into Mikael's hand and applying some carefully to Mikael's ears.
"I don't mind," he said, mostly meaning it.
Hearing the faint snap, he looked at Melody quizzically. "Um?" he asked.

Melody's phone was hiding behind her back. She seemed to be checking her nails now. Good. Still even.
She looked up at Rodney and seemed confused by his gaze, touching her face to see if anything was amiss.

"Well, you tried. It's his loss." He hadn't been sure how he felt with Horace tagging along, but this was Lawr's trip, his house, and his decision.
Melvin shut the trunk and moved over, unlocking the car for everyone He toyed with adjusting the seat settings to be comfortable, and then slid inside. Gripping the steering wheel, he turned the key in the ignition. Not exactly a roar or even a purr, and he pressed his lips thin as he stared at the steering wheel.
Leaning over, he set up the GPS and then reached for a MP3 player and aux cable as he started setting up for the trip.
As he fiddled inside, he turned to see Rodney lotioning up Mikael while Lawr and Melody watched.
He said nothing and went back to setting the GPS, shaking his head.

Mik smiled brightly at Lawrence as he was tended to, applying the lotion without any real problems to the other side and for a moment the older man was tempted to fasten the boy to the front of Melvin's car like a scene from a postapocalyptic movie.
"He can do it himself, he needs to learn to stop using people." he said, giving the boy a flat look.
Switching back to Swedish he added "Now hurry up and get in the car Mikael before I actually do need to murder you in front of all these very nice people."
Mikael just looked more concerned.

"Morda?" Rodney repeated, a little alarmed.

Melvin had to laugh outright when Lawr said "stop using people" and found it a bit hard to stop.

Melody strategically took this moment to steal the front passenger seat.

Lawrence just froze and gave Rodney the startled look of someone who had forgotten that there were certain words across languages which sounded quite similar to one another. The word mörda, meaning murder when snarled as he had to Mikael sounded quite a lot like murder, the english version. He hadn't considered this entirely.
"Oh no it's fine." he said to Rodney, attempting a swift recovery "You must have misheard me, I was simply telling Mikael to get a move on as everyone is ready to go."
Melvin's laughter earned the car he was in a glare.
"Especially Melvin."
When Melody headed over he pointed. "And now Melody, guess you need to sit in the back, that's what happens when you waste time." he shrugged and turned to saunter back to the other car.
Mikael watched him go with big deep blue eyes. "It means murder." he said quietly.

Melvin only smiled back at Lawr and stop laughing before leaning out to the group. "Lawr's right. We need to start heading out." And he wanted to start driving as soon as possible.

Melody excitedly looked out each window in turn and then back at the group. She was excited to see what all Lawr had planned. She smiled brightly at the man, completely oblivious to the discussion they were having.

A couch by any other name
When Lawr said this IKEA was big, he hadn't expected it to be a blue stadium of hard to pronounce goods. Parking wasn't hard to find, but they did have to wait for Rodney's car to finally catch up and park. The walk across the parking lot was accented with yellow flags that matched the massive IKEA written out on the blue bricks of the building. Entering, he looked out at what would be a long walk through everything from appliances to wicker chairs.
"This place is massive." He said in slight awe as he turned to them.

A couch by any other name
Melody was quick to shove the door open on Melvin's car as soon as it came to a complete stop. She stumbled out onto the pavement, her legs shaking like a newly born fawn. She grabbed a pillar and hugged it tightly until she re-gained her bearings. Which was about when Lawr and Rodney arrived.
She was quick to approach them, "May I please ride with you two on the way out?"

The quiet car
It did feel good to be driving again and Lawrence didn't doubt at all that he'd made the correct choice of car, his machinations playing out in such a way that Melvin got to enjoy a bit of risky driving and music of his choice while he got to enjoy feeling like an actual human being again. All around them were people going about their day and tourists visiting a new country. He found himself staring at a car next to them with a small child in the back seat and thinking how strange it was that after being on the island so long that a child would seem so strange and alien to his eyes.
Their music was certainly not rock music and that was good enough for him. "It is so strange to be back here." he said. "I did not live in Stockholm but I certainly visited a number of times."
He leaned back in his chair and leaned his left arm out of the window, completely indifferent to any glances it drew. "I don't know if it was a good idea bringing Mikael though." he said. "I want to try and repair my relationship with him but every time I look at him all I see are my failings."

The loud car
In the back seat of the car Melvin was driving Mikael was having a great time, a fan of loud music and emphatic sounds he wasn't remotely distressed by the erratic and speedy driving but instead had rolled down a back window and was letting his hair blow in the air that whipped around the vehicle.
"I am having fun!" he announced as if it wasn't self evident just looking at him. "Look at all the people! So many people!" And he waved at a man in the car next to him who gave him a concerned look but baffled waved back.
"You drive really fun!" he announced to Melvin, raising his voice over the music. "Doesn't he?"
