Levi couldn't help the small smirk on his lips as she whined at him and not-so-gently declared that he hold her hand.
"That's fine, no objections here."
The laugh was concealed with his smile as he watched her glide forward to open the door to his office. It gave him one last, lingering stare at her swaying hips before she opened his office onto the semi-trafficked hallway and he was forced to look back up at her head out of respect. He might still feel like s**t, but he was definitely in a better mood when she was around. It was hard for him to feel guilty over his decision to leave the office when faced with that, especially when he knew it wasn't all going to be wasted time.
A small nod accompanied his smile as she glanced back at him, but he motioned her forward and fell into step behind her as they went. Walking was a slow process for him when the world felt tiled on its axis, but he managed to pull his office door shut behind him with minimal effort and even acknowledged the receptionist as they passed on their way to the elevator.
"I'm heading home to work from my office there, Julie, I just can't kick this migraine today. Tell Robert that he can reach me on my cell and that I'll be back first thing in the morning."
The middle-aged woman cooed something protective and motherly at him, but he ignored it in favor of stepping into the elevator at Jade's side. The last view he got of his office was just beyond the elevator doors as they closed but for once, he found it easier to let the work go.
It was just he and Jade, now.
