"If I was trying to sweet talk you ..." Jeremiah huffed and leaned back while Algie wrapped his leg up. People only knew about the slashes that had happened to him; very few knew about the pain that came with the scarring on his back. He was getting too used to being cold. "Edwards was there and I couldn't get out of there until he was satisfied with everything." Chief George Edwards would not wait and he knew well enough that Jeremiah would power through just about anything - including things that could kill him. His cup of tea was emptied and set aside, a hand held out for the other bandages to put back onto his hip. "I would have much preferred coming home with you, precious," he said quietly, shoulders rolling. The warmth of the shower had already faded and he was, moment by moment, just wanting to be in bed.

Alg handed over the other bandage but didn't say anything else. It was more of a grump, just mild annoyance, the sort of 'not fair' that was only affecting him because he wanted to be in bed. Wanted Jeremiah where he could see him and keep him warm. When the leg was wrapped he stood up and moved Jeremiah, pressing his warm front against the other's back and smoothing his hands along his shoulders. Alg was just waiting for the go ahead for bed at this point.

Jeremiah huffed at the being moved. Mostly because Algie could get away with manhandling him like that in the first place. His skin was chill, his back more so, but his spouse was warm and it made him want to stretch out and soak it up. His fingers applied the bandage to his hip as he was walked towards the bed. "Warm me up, Alg?" It was a rhetorical question and meant more to say that they could move to bed and talk, as necessary, in the morning. Tomorrow. Whatever.

"Of course love.." This time said with relief. Alg always kept a warm hand on the other. He did pause to pull his t-shirt off, his own shoulder twinging and bandaged, and turn off a lamp or two. The cats were in designated spots which kept them out of the way of the men until real sleep hit. They'd always wake up being groomed or nested on. Algie stopped Jeremiah just short of the bed, embracing the man tightly, pressing a kiss to his jaw, and just taking a moment to tuck his head under his the other. He murmured against chilly skin, "We need a break.."

Jeremiah's arms came up and wrapped around Algie. His fingers rested lightly against the bandaged shoulder - and the resulting flash of Alg dying shoved away immediately - before he was pressing a kiss to silvering brown hair. "I don't think we get breaks, precious." A sigh followed the words. He started to walk a little backwards, pulling them towards the bed. "... but the idea has merit. Maybe we could plan to visit my mother and Bob." Mostly because it was about time that his mother would be wanting to come to Ashdown again for a visit. With everything that was going on he was not sure he wanted her to do so.

"Dad wants to visit.." Alg murmured, "But I've been blowing him off. I don't want him to come here." If something happened to his father he wouldn't know how to live with himself. He wanted to say he didn't sign up for this, scream and rage that he hadn't asked for any of it. It was tiring and ugly and difficult, for all the wonder of magic and mystery. Algie was already tired and something unpleasant in his gut told him they'd only scratched the surface. "I'd like to go home and visit if nothing else." The professor sighed again and finally pulled a bit away, enough to urge Jeremiah to the bed again. "Lay down. Warm and sleep. And scotch if need be." Before Alg had his showered he'd pounded one back. No regrets. He needed it.

"I've been putting mother off as well." Jeremiah did not want either of their parents coming to Ashdown. Not with the way things were going, not with the idea that something could happen to them. It would be terrifying. His fingers came up and cradled Algie's face, thumb rubbing along the faint line of stubble. "Let's plan on that then, alright?" It was better than nothing. It would probably help them both to get it into their heads that they could - if they wanted - leave and go back for a vacation. Even if it was not permanent. (It was back again, that flare of guilt that he had dragged Algie into something. That this was something neither of them had expected or wanted but now it was part of their lives. Like the scarring along his back or Algie's hands that could warm him with a single touch of his finger.) "Pour me a glass, I'll drink it and then I'll lay down." Algie was given a tired smile, a kiss pressed to his forehead as he went to sit on the bed.

Alg did so, pouring a reasonable size glass and taking a sip of it before he handed it over and settled himself on the bed beside Jeremiah. One hand rubbed across the man's back, lower back first and then slowly upward, letting the soothing warmth sink into Jeremiah's chilled skin. His head tilted to rest on the other's shoulder, eyes closing again as he rubbed his back. Apparently given any second to sit still, Alg was going to drift off.

Jeremiah took the glass, sipping at it while Algie's fingers smoothed along his back. The warmth seeped into slowly, easing away the chill. It would not go away completely, that would take time, but at least it helped ease it. He leaned his head against Alg's a moment, finishing off the glass. Right as it was emptied was when he noticed his spouse's fingers slowing and then stilling. Carefully putting an arm around the other man's middle, he leaned to set the glass down on the bedside table. "Come on, Alg. Let's lay down." His nose nudged against his temple. "You're on big spoon duty," he teased lightly.

"Mm.." Alg stirred again, standing slowly to flip the sheets back enough for them both to crawl under. He scooted his way across the bed, waiting for Jeremiah to get in and stopping him to kiss him, a serious of lazy slow kisses, before he released the other to lay down and get comfortable. The heavier man tucked himself against Jeremiah's back. He could feel the chilly line of his spine pressed against his chest and stomach, and wound his arm around his lover to hold him close. He nuzzled the back of his neck and pressed a kiss there. They could talk about things in the morning. Process slowly, parse it out, Alg could compartmentalize, and they could plan for the future. For now he didn't even want to entertain it all with a single thought. "G'dnight," Another press of lips to a shoulder, "I love you."

Jeremiah's stomach fluttered, that last bit of tension easing away with each sleepy, lazy kiss. They were returned as he slid under the covers and only stopped when he rolled onto his side. It took a moment of shifting to get comfortable, it always did, but by the time Algie was pressed to his back he was fine. Talking would come in the morning, along with processing everything. There were more worries and fears that would have to be addressed but they did not matter. Not when they were in bed like this and it was just them. The rest of the world could bugger off for a few hours. His fingers tangled with Algie's, the hand dragged up and held against the steady thump of his heartbeat. "Night, snowflake," he murmured, shifting and pressing back, "love you." He would easily fall asleep curled up like this. Even if his dreams would not be easy, there would likely be more nightmares of people he cared for dying, but like this ... Like this he could handle it.
