His reply startles Chris - he hadn't been expecting anyone to stick around, much less Shiloh.
"Really, why? I heard they're uh. Vicious." He looks at him from his desk, packing forgotten to continue their conversation. He had some time and he was willing to reward Shiloh's attempts to talk.

"Sorta." he shuffled awkward, feet kicking the seat in front of his own. "All animals are vicious if you provoke them."
"But I guess technically, sliders are a lot more docile." a pause, "I dunno, there's so many kinds... we'd be here for hours."

"That's true," Chris agreed, dropping a notebook into his bag. "It's kind of funny to think that a turtle could even be a little more out there than others."
He leveled a gaze at Shiloh. "Are snapping turtles native here? I haven't seen many turtles around admittedly, but then I spend most my time indoors."

Trade"I told ya' we'd be here for hours if I started talkin' about turtles." he cracked a rare grin actually, finally standing with his things. This entire montage had been a start of sorts, only that Shiloh could vaguely start to appreciate.
Mr. Watts wasn't too bad.
"I'll just print out the wiki again. S'not worth explaining to you anyway." he stuck his tongue out before scampering out of the classroom.

RefugeThis s**t was great.
Actually, it really wasn't. It was a little nerve wracking if Shiloh was being totally honest. Skipping was something he wasn't new too, but skipping here of all places felt like a game of Russian roulette.
At least Mr. Watts didn't seem to be in his office, which meant Shiloh had peace and quiet and plants. Why the hell were there so many plants? Maybe he could hide behind one, just in case Mr. Watts did show up.
Yes, brilliant idea Beaumont. This was the s**t Nobel Prizes were made out of, or so he thought as he started building his potted plant fortress. PeanutButterpies shiloh..........................

"If you say so," Chris grinned back, laughing as Shiloh left.
For the rest of the day, he couldn't help but think back to their conversation and grin.

The line to use the copier had been like eight teachers long, which ended up eating a good chunk of his time. It was lucky enough that he had his phone on him and was able to pass the time with his phone games, otherwise he might've lost his mind.
Although with the way about half his plants had moved from their normal spots to this weird wall in his office, it might have happened without Chris knowing.
"Hello?" He said, closing the door to his office as he moved to dump the copies on his desk.

RefugePlant fortress? At this point, it was a potted plant kingdom. Behind the thickness of green, it would be hard to spot Shiloh, especially since his own jacket was a similar hue.
Still didn't stop his heart from leaping into his throat when the door opened. He pulled his hood over his blonde hair, crouching down behind the wall of leaves. s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t—
"WE DON'T WANT ANY." he shouted back, caught red handed. It didn't matter if he stayed silent or not.

Chris had a lot of plants, he was starting to realize. Maybe too many. Why the ******** couldn't he see through the foliage to figure out whoever was there? His mom's gardening habit had rubbed off on him.
He burst out laughing though at Shiloh's shout.
"We- We don't-" He wheezed, trying to talk through his laughter. He barely managed to drop his papers on his desk without trouble. He took a minute to compose himself. "Okay so uh. Who's the 'we', who have made an excellent hideout of all my plants?"

RefugeShiloh felt his cheeks burning when Chris laughed, "DON'T ********' LAUGH AT ME." he screeched, poking his head just above the plant wall he had constructed, "AND IF YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE YOUR OWN STUDENT'S VOICE, THEN IT'S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT."
...
Wait, s**t.

"Oh my god, Shiloh," Chris said, half alarmed, half amused that it was Shiloh of all people who had set up the plant kingdom. "s**t, I didn't think you'd be here."
He paused, then added "It was kind of funny though."
He wasn't letting on he didn't recognize Shiloh's voice in the first place since he hadn't expected him to even be in his office.
That would've probably screwed him over even worse.

RefugeShiloh huffed, waving his arms angrily before shooting back behind the wall of foliage.
"It's not funny." he mumbled. Chris probably wouldn't scold him and the school year was almost over, but he still didn't like the feeling of being caught. Then again, he probably shouldn't have hid in his teachers office. Not your brightest moment, Beaumont.
"You weren't supposed to come back yet." Shiloh refused to show his face, but his hands continued to reach out and grab more plants—or whatever he could find, really—to further construct the fort.

"Oh? Where was I supposed to be then?" Chris questioned, sitting down behind his desk and rifling through the papers he had printed.
"I don't have a class period to teach right now and I don't have any college classes, so I'm usually here." He looked up, surprised to see the wall was still growing. He didn't stop it though. Honestly, he was curious on how much it could be built up before Shiloh ran out of materials.
At the amount of plants and books and binders that were in the room, it would probably be a long time before Shiloh had to stop.

Refuge "I don't know." Shiloh snorted as he reached for (and found) yet another binder, carefully adding layers between him and Chris. "Just not here."
He was a kid with his hand caught in the proverbial cookie jar. At least it didn't seem like Mr. Watts was going to turn his a** in, so that was a plus.
"What I wanna know is," Shiloh grabbed a book, "Why the ******** do you have so many plants." Shiloh would have thought twice about swearing in front of a teacher (he had gotten in trouble so, so many times before for it), but he already had once today and the year was almost over so it was hard to care.

"Well, next time I'll think about where I should be instead of my office so I don't bother your fort making," Chris joked, a small pile of papers steadily growing as he kept on checking.
He hadn't checked all the way through last time and had ended up with a small pile of blank papers and had to fight the rest of the teachers for access to the printer.
He glanced up, putting his chin in his hand. "I really don't know why I have so many plants." He glanced around the little fortress. "My mom's gardening habit has rubbed off on me I guess. And people seem to think they're a good gift for me."
