Leaning to the side, the general brought an arm up to rest her elbow on the arm of the chair, cheek falling into her upturned palm. A second later the general was gone, and Porsha was the one sitting across from him again. There was no reason to flaunt her rank at him, she'd announced herself, and that had been her intent. The rest of their conversation could carry on as close to level as was possible, all things considering.

At his question her chin dipped in a single nod, breath easing out in a small sigh. By his tone, his resignation, it was easy to see just how much he cared for Jade, and all of it would have been fine, if not for the tension that lingered between Levi and herself.

Not that she could blame him, of course. He'd have been a fool not to take her threats seriously. Granted, those threats only applied if he continued wasting his time and talent, and he clearly had no intention of doing that.

"She is my newest lieutenant, as well as a dear friend." And more, but that didn't need to be said. If Jade was as open and honest with him as she was with Porsha, then he knew the pretty blonde did not fall so easily into monogamy.

Watching him, dark lips pursed. "You're worried this will effect your relationship with her." Why wouldn't he be? He didn't know her well enough to know what she would or wouldn't do. "It won't, at least not by my doing." Jade was free to make her own choices on what to do or who to see, Po wasn't going to interfere, not so long as the other woman continued to also make time for her and her Negaverse duties, including training.

"Of course I am."

Jade being attached to Porsha meant that if he wanted to be involved with Marcesite at all as a soldier, and not just her sort-of manager slash some guy she liked to make out with, then he would probably have to be more involved with Xenotime as well. Not that he thought either woman would force him but knowing what he knew of the Negaverse, some of it learned through Xeno herself, he had discovered a new, gnawing fear of Marcesite's well being.

The shift back to Porsha seemed to dampen some of his anxiety and he was able to relax more believably back into his chair. It helped to lean his head back, even if it made him stare at her from a lazy angle.

"Pretending with her isn't fair, either." And he wouldn't lie to Jade about how he felt toward Xeno because he knew the fear wasn't a choice. It simply was. She stood for everything he feared about the army he had been roped into nearly five years ago and he couldn't act as if he was comfortable in her presence. Maybe he would be, eventually, but Jade was bound to notice long before that. "She'll ask, eventually, if I don't tell her first. We both know she's too perceptive."

Narrow shoulders drew up in a rolling shrug. "Tell her if you'd like, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise." It would have been pointless, because as Levi said, Jade would realize something was up long before the tension ever dissipated, if it ever did. She wasn't here to protect her image in the tall blonde's eyes, she didn't feel she needed to. Jade understood how the Negaverse operated.

"As a professional courtesy, and in the interest of full disclosure and honesty, I figured it was better to come to you before hand, rather than simply allowing you to figure it out on your own." Like pulling a bandaid off swiftly, as opposed to picking away at it a millimeter at a time.

The sooner the truth of their combined situation was acknowledged, the sooner steps could be made to insure a continued and mutually acceptable arrangement remained. What she'd done to Levi the first time they'd met hadn't been personal. She didn't dislike him as an individual, she'd been doing what was required of her.

In a way that made it easier, they didn't have to worry about rebuilding a shaky opinion on her end, only on his.

No, not easy. Uncomplicated.

The mossy-haired man nodded slowly at her words. He could see where she would want to come to him full disclosure. Honestly, he suspected it must have had more to do with how she felt about Jade than anything to do with the Negaverse. Her rank alone meant she owed him no apology, no courtesy, no anything. It wasn't even Xenotime that needed to remind him of that.

The long, skinny fingers of his hand drummed lightly on the desktop and he averted his eyes to his windows - only to realize the blinds had been closed hours before in an attempt to keep the sunlight from reaching his eyes.

"I appreciate the disclosure," he added, with a robotic tone, before he let his gaze settled on her again. She seemed at peace with herself in a way he had never managed - at least not since the first time he'd pulled his uniform over his skin.

"I'd rather know now than be surprised by it later. I have no intention of trying to ruin whatever it is that you have with her." Yet there was a tightness to his eyes as they narrowed on her. "But I can't pretend you haven't done something to me on an instinctual level, Porsha. It takes a lot out of me to even admit to that."

The hand around the starseed curled tighter and he brought it up between them, rolling it in his fingers as he used it as a distraction not to look into her eyes again. She made him nervous, which made him tense, and that ultimately made his headache a lot worse despite the energy pearl he had just consumed. There was no way around using the life force he held so easily between his fingers.

"I don't mean to be rude, but I think it would be better if you left now. There's no peace for me with you here." His gaze did flicker past the starseed, finally, to watch her.

Her head cocked just slightly to one side at the admission, as if she were doing more than simply considering his words. Looking through him, into him, perhaps. Then she was offering a small shrug, blinking as she lessened the intensity of her gaze back to that friendly neutrality she'd been aiming for since she'd arrived at his office. "We all have our orders." Which wasn't an apology for what had happened between them, but an explanation. Our's is not to question why, our's is but to do and die.

The request to leave was met with a small dip of her head, a slight widening of that soft smile. "That being the case," she conceded simply, smoothing her palms along her thighs before rising to her feet.

"You do have a lot a wonderful ideas regarding what we were originally talking about. It might be nice to pursue a few of them." Two birds-one stone. It wouldn't be a bad thing, promoting the league.

Fingers sinking into her back pockets, she looked down at him. "Things to discuss later, maybe." She'd like to do business with him, but she wasn't going to step on any toes. Forcing herself on him would only be counter productive to her goals.

"I hope your head feels better." Another bright smile, then she was letting herself out.
