I Think You Dropped ThisHis head shot up and his eyes shot open. Of all the things Jamie expected to see, this wasn't one of them.
"Oh," was his belated and eloquent response in return, followed by the most automatic of reaches to return her phone to her. Lots of questions plagued him, but he settled for ignoring them (for now) as his hand lightly brushed against hers on accident. "You're... You're welcome," he bumbled, but despite his natural awkwardness, he was slow to return his hand to his side. "I'm, uh, Jamie... by the way..." He wasn't usually the type to introduce himself out of the blue, but for some reason he felt compelled to.

I Think You Dropped ThisLily's hand brushed against his and she knew, just like she'd known with Eve, and what had been a look of benign boredom flashed outwards to something resembling surprise. "Lily," she responded in kind, and lifted an arm back up to her perching branch to steady herself as she unwove her legs and hopped down to the ground below. "Did you just feel that? Because I felt that. Best buds at first sight." Or rather, furry friends at first touch, but she would get to that later. Such things needed to be discussed delicately, especially with how fragile he looked.

I Think You Dropped ThisWhile Jamie still wasn't quite sure what that was, he couldn't deny that there had been a that. Without much hesitation at all, he nodded his agreement, looking sheepish all the while. Lily was right about his delicate disposition. It was difficult for Jamie to face things like the that shared between them. Lady had assured him that he was still himself, though, and he'd done his best to remember that this whole time.
Even now as he looked up at his brand new bust bud at first sight, he felt a warm sort of reassurance, one he'd only ever experienced in those sudden and unexpected friendships he'd fostered with people like Shiloh. Now, he was sure, Lily would be one of those surprise friends, too.
"I think... you might be right," he said with a smile.
