"I thought he was a threat at first," he said, shaking his head. "It was so sudden." Instead, it seemed, he'd found a new friend. "I'd love bottled tea," he added. A little sugar to jolt his senses back to the present. "Do you think there's any danger to it? Have you ever felt like you might get stuck?" He asked. "And... Does it have anything to do with the dead mouse I dreamed I ate the other night?" Even now he scrunched up his nose just a hair at the thought.

Lara pulled a bottle of Tea's Tea out of the little rattling minifridge behind her desk and put it across the desk for Rylan. "Probably," she said. "I don't know for sure, but I do know I wake up spitting kibble sometimes. It's awful."

"That... sounds about right," he said, rubbing a hand across his face. The short trip had taken more out of him than he'd imagined, and he reached gratefully for the tea, untwisted it and chugged a third of it before coming up for air. "So, are you able to control Cerby while you're looking through his eyes?" He asked. "That's what the... Stark kids could do, right." As far as he could tell, the benefits of being able to to this outweighed the cons. Who didn't want to know what it was like to fly? To see colors the way a bird did. It was liberating, almost, which was the last thing Rylan had expected to feel. "Also important - have you ever been to Other Ashdown?"

Rylan allowed himself a tired, confused smile. "I'm not sure, to be honest," he said. "I've been hearing things lately that, given all the other weird things that have been happening, made me think maybe it's not just a story." Maybe. "But this sudden magical change, that couldn't have come from nowhere, right?"

Lara shrugged. "I don't know, Lieutenant," she said. "I really wish I did. And that's why I want to get us all together, so we can compare what we know, what we've discovered..." She brushed a hand through her hair, examines the color for a moment. "It must have an origin, but I'm not sure what it is," she said. "And I'm epileptic, I'm not very well-suited to go looking alone. Hopefully with all of us together we'll be able to learn something about where we come from."

"How many of us have you found?" he asked. "But you're right. More heads together will get us farther. I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this if we're all working for the same thing." And, frankly, why wouldn't they? He thought back to the little black ball of fluff that had sat so contentedly in Thorne's basket, thought of the flight he'd just experienced. If he was completely honest, he was almost excited to find out more. And he had no doubt they would.
