"I..." That was fair. He fidgeted with the rim of his helmet. "Okay, better question, how did you know I had dead things showing up on my windowsill?" His gaze went to the little dog, suddenly animated as he hadn't been before. "I don't know I'm doing it? So why would I suddenly be doing it if I haven't been doing it my whole life? What exactly is it?" And how did one stop doing it - if, indeed, he was doing any such thing.

Lara points to Cerberus. "I started doing it a month ago," she says. "Cerby can tell when he sees someone who's doing it, and he saw the mouse for you when we were out on a walk, and... I just sort of... arrangedtowalkpastthefirehouseandsee." She lets her shoulders drop. "I didn't know I was doing it either until I couldn't stop doing it."

"He saw the mouse for me?" WHAT DID THAT MEAN. Rylan stared at the little dog, so tiny but suddenly so much less cute. The dog was involved? "Wouldn't my dog be able to see then? And what do you mean you can't stop doing it?" Okay. Okay. This was not the time to be alarmed. Rylan took a breath. "I need... explain," he said finally. "Start from the beginning. You can dream things. You realized you could dream things. You... Learned to control the dreaming, I hope??" Dear god. This was not okay.

Lara nods. "On your windowsill. There was one for several days in a row. I thought it was strange." She sighs, presses her hands to her temples. "I mean if I don't look, it starts to hurt," she says. "I wanted to know if you--if you knew, and if you did, if you knew anything more than I do, which, to be fair, is not much, they don't cover this in the literature."

"If you don't look at what?" He asked, feeling more unsettled by the minute. She couldn't possibly be right about this. It was a coincidence, just like the fog and the posters a few months back had most certainly been some kind of prankster running loose around town. "This is all... news to me," he added with a helpless shake of his head. "I take it you don't control it." He couldn't help but think there couldn't possibly be literature on something that wasn't real. Very not real, in fact. There had to be a logical explanation somewhere.

Lara looks down at Cerby. "Maybe you could. With practice. It gives me such a headache, though..."

Rylan stare skeptically at Lara. He didn't really want headaches. More accurately, he didn't really want to control whatever it was she was talking about and didn't want any headaches that might be involved. "How does one practice dreaming, exactly? And uh... what if I just. Didn't."

"I guess then you just wouldn't?" Lara shrugs. "In books, these things always come for you anyway. Wouldn't you rather be in control of it?" She rummages in her bag for something, and then holds out a business card: Lara Lupin, Associate Professor, Criminal Studies. There is a phone number, and on the back in a doctor-worthy hand, a date and time. May 24th, 7pm. "If you do decide to look into it, a bunch of us are meeting up in Blackfriar Hall's lobby to figure it out on the 24th," says Lara. "The library at Rider-Waite." She steps back. Cerby comes with her. "Sorry for bothering you."

"I... Well, I guess so..." He said. If it was, in fact, something he was doing, then she was right. He'd much rather know that he could control it that not. The trouble was figuring out how much of it was true, and how much of it was just an unhappy coincidence. "There's a bunch of us?" He said, a little dazed as he took the card and stared at it without quite processing the words. "No, not all... You..." Rylan looked at her again, the unsettled look on his face resting deep in his eyes. "Maybe I'll see you there." He hadn't quite decided yet.
